H&A that's so miss moneypenny! i want one.

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 11:07

Take it easy Holly, don't bother too much the boys won't notice if its tidy or not!

Hello Brownsuga, have you just joined us? If so welcome to the thread!

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 11:14

Girls, the reality has just sunk in that I (and also all you lovelies too!) am soon to be having a baby again! I was in tescos this morning and I saw a very young new born screaming at the top of his lungs whilst his mother juggled shopping onto the conveyor and tried to deal with her toddler! Oh God! I forgot about those horrendous shopping trips with a baby! A more motherly looking memeber of staff offered to help - and held the baby! Peace!

My new mantra is "get organised" meals in freezer, shopping delivered etc. Am going to try monthly shops to be super prepared Wish me luck!

sleepychunky · 20/04/2007 12:05

Sorry all - not posted for absolutely ages and ages and ages. Just haven't had the time or the internet access (only have access at work and our office was closed for 10 days over Easter).

have tried to read through the threads to catch up with everyone, but not had much success. Too much going on

Anyway, just thought I'd send you all an update. I had m/w appt on Wednesday and baby is fine, measuring exactly right for dates and head down (but not engaged!) I am still at work until the end of May (when I'll be 37+5 on my last day) and so very very jealous of all of you who have already started mat leave. Midwife thinks I'm crazy to stay at work so long as I have to commute 50 miles to London from home, but I want to spend as much time at home afterwards as I can before financial restraints force me back to full time work, so all being well with baby I'm going to carry on for another 5 weeks. Just have to hope it doesn't come early!

Anyway, that's all I've got time to write but I will try and check back in again soon

annobal · 20/04/2007 12:17

Seansgirl - I think Piriton is safe but would double check before taking it. My hayfever isn't too bad at the moment so am avoiding all drugs.

Very scarey thought to think that within the next 10 weeks we'll all have newborns!

about the Spider MaryLou!

BrownSuga · 20/04/2007 12:20

Hi there, i was kiwinat (due 08June), but that was such a dull name.

long time lurker, infrequent poster

foxybrown · 20/04/2007 12:52

hello everyone, first day back at school today yayyy!

Seansgirl, am impressed by your motivation! i hit a bit of a plateau - one last push this weekend and next to do some painting, final Ikea trip on sunday (see you there Holly?) and then a John Lewis shop to finish off.

Do you do your supermarket shopping on the internet? if not I'd highly recommend getting that sorted. Itsone of those things you can do at 3 am when baby's got you up for not apparent reason.

Soon enough it'll be time to align the canned food lables and clean out the food cupboards!

foxybrown · 20/04/2007 12:53

that's next sunday Holly, not this one.

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 13:07

Yes, I should be there foxy! I'll let you know for def next week. Applied for an Ikea account card the other day as not sure our finances will stretch to all the 1001 things we need to get. The Ikea shopping list is endless!

Just tidied the house and it looks reasonable. No more housework for me today. Gonna have a nap now coz dd has just gone down for one.

Hi brownsuga (love the name ) and sleepychunky! Glad you are both well!

Seansgirl I am trying not to think about the fact I'll have an extremely stubborn and crazy 2 year and a newborn soon! I don't think it'll sink in until about a week after lo arrives! It's very exciting though, I can't wait to meet him!

foxybrown · 20/04/2007 13:40

I was absolutely terrified of having 2 children!

BrownSuga · 20/04/2007 13:50

I'm a bit terrified of having 1!

We took it in stages, get a dog, if I don't manage to kill it, try a baby, see how that goes, then (maybe) try another.

foxybrown · 20/04/2007 13:54

LOL Brownsuga

I never even managed to keep a spider-plant alive!

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 14:51

Hi Brownsuga aka Kiwinat! Didn't realise it ws you! Stop lurking and join in!

BrownSuga · 20/04/2007 15:00

I need a bit more MN confidence I think, you all seem to know each other very well so it feels like intruding!

re the plant killer, i'm useless with them too, i can recommend peace lily's, even when they're really wilted and on deaths door, you can water them and they magically spring back as good as new (well sometimes......)

BrownSuga · 20/04/2007 15:02

I'm off to meet the DH at the gym (7hr work days are great), have a good weekend all. I might lurk a bit on Monday and maybe post a bit too.

marylou23 · 20/04/2007 15:33

Hmm. I think I need a rebrand. What they don't tell you when you join Mumsnet (or what you fail to think about. Okay, what I failed to think about) is that once you've chosen a nickname, you're stuck wtih it. I tried three, all of which were already being used, and then came up with marylou because a friend's daughter had just called her doll that - and even marylou was gone. Hence marylou23. But now I'm hanging out with people called Foxy and Brown Suga and Bumperlicious (and all the rest of you with your fab names. Not going to list them all or someone will think we're doing another round of due dates), it's making me wonder whether I coudln't have tried just a bit harder.

Only now, I'm kind of stuck with it. I mean, if I suddenly became HotPantsGirl (in my dreams ), I might scare you all off...

Guess I'll stick with marylou. But for the record, I am not a cow girl and I don't wear my hair in bunches. The doll, on the other hand, is and does. Just wanted to clear that up.

And yes, I am blathering on to create a diversion from the work I promised myself I'd finish today...

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 15:37

Foxy, does that mean you'll be all sorted for the baby then? My motivation may sound good, but I have so much to do before its untrue! I won't bore you with the details just suffice to say that this is total the baby has so far - 1 pk nappies, 1 pk cotton wool, 3 babygros, 1 romper suit, 1 jacket (bought my DM!) and thats it!

On the shopping front I do have tescos but hate the quality of the fresh stuff. But it is also a buget thing with me I - we spend way too much on food!

The plan is:

  • get new feezer stock with 1 months supply of meat from local farm shop and fish from frozenfishdirect.com (+ anything else that will freeze)
-weekly veg box from local supplier (not fussed if organic as long as local -non perishables/toilet paper etc 1 month from tescos -still toying with bread maker

then all have to buy (hopefully) is yoghurt, cheese, etc
thus avoiding shop and therefore not tempted to buy non-essential items

That is the plan if I stick to it is another thing!!

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 15:39

blather away cowgirl, sorry Marylou! Nothing wrong with Marylou Seansgirl is hardly cool but I couldn't be bothered to think about it that much!

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 15:42

By the way, on the 5 a day think I'm winning today hands down....... i have had for lunch - houmous, olives, crudites (red pepper, carrot, cucumber and celery!) and pitta (but that doesn't count) also have drumnk large glass of raspberry & apple juice! [polishing halo emoticon]

marylou23 · 20/04/2007 15:42

Oh I don't know. Seansgirl makes me think of Sean himself and you kind of riding along with him, hair flowing behind you...

My baby has no nappies, nothing practical at all, but he does have a cot and a baby hammock. No one I've spoken to seems to be as enthusiastic about my baby hammock as I am, but then again I think they just can't see the potential. It's a hammock! For babies! It rocks them gently! It recreates the womb! Now I just need a mummy hammock and I'll be sorted...

marylou23 · 20/04/2007 15:44

Yeah... I've just had chocolate. WIth nuts...

But did have blueberries in my cereal this morning. Maybe next time I should get chocolate with nuts and raisins...

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 15:44

Right, am talking to myself so am off to entertain DD. We are painting our terracota plant pots this afternoon.

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 15:45

Marylou! I am not alone! Love the imagine of me and Sean! sigh!

Seansgirl · 20/04/2007 15:46

Whats a baby hammock BTW have heard of them on other threads but daren't ask! Have you got a link?

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 16:00

I had left over pizza for lunch and grapes! 5 a day used up right there! It's chocolate for tea then! Hooray!

Had a lovely nap, but dd woke me up way too soon so now I feel a bit rubbish!

I pretty much already have all the baby stuff left over from dd. Moses basket and crib, bath seat, towels, breast pump etc. All I need are more blue clothes and some steriliser bags and some bottles. It really has nothing to do with me being organised, more to do with being a horder and never throwing anything away. Shit I do need to buy a birth pool though quite urgently. Do you think it would be too late if I bought one next month?

I kill plants too! I managed to kill all the veg plants I lovingly grew from seed last year as soon as they went outside! Hopefully this year they will survive at least long enough to produce some actual veg!
