Hi to BrownSuga and Sleepychunky.....we were wondering where everyone had gone...glad you're back and don't be shy we want to know about as many babies in June as possible....

Had a lovely day today...saw MW this morning...everything just fine and Dandy...definately BH that I've been experiencing, she said not to worry about how sore they are, its common with subsequent babies. BP fine, iron levels fine, baby heartbeat fine...head down but not engaged...

Went into town for some shopping...bubba now has enough babygros and vests to last about four or fove days, so that should do for starters...bought a really cute first outfit in M&S which will fit for about five minutes, but I didn't want her drwning in 0-3mo stuff coming home form hospital...

Also bought myself a weekend bag which is lovely, lovely, great and fab, and I want to buy up the whole range.....can't tell DH how much it cost, but he might just guess by the label....but on the plus side, I also bought a suitcase reduced from £80 to £20....so in "lady speak"...as the two items together cost less than the case at full price, I have myself a bonafide bargain....do you agree????? Very excited as now I can get the bag packed, so I'll be ready to go at the drop of a hat

DKMA.....you'r gonna need one of these if you're going to express by hand . what planet is your HV on....don't know anyone who has successfully managed to do it...ask your MW for advice, but the medela ones (as used by HandA) are suppposed to be the best.

Bought Mother and Baby Magazine today and actually cried in JS cafe reading the birth stories or what....been feeling a bit over emotional all day really.

Had lovely girly lunch and then took my friend to the garden centre as her vehicle is off the road at the moment and dreamed up lots of lovely schemes for the garden...DH has forbidden me to buy anything until we (well he) have all the spadework completed...but nearly bought a lovely tree to plant over the cat....we need something there to remind us he's there and stop us (or more specifically DS) from trying to dig him over at any point in the future

How's the cervix Sputnik....is it closing up again or just that contractions have stopped?

ja9 · 20/04/2007 19:10

hi

just popped on to say

love your thread title!

Daisybump · 20/04/2007 19:13

Cheers Ja9....

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 19:14

Sounds like a lovely day shopping daisy! Glad bubs is well and head down!

Has anyone started thinking about their hosp bag? I'm not planning a hosp birth, but you have to have one packed just in case I think.

Seansgirl they love junk! It's gross! I never cook ready meals or junk food, so it's kinda nice not to have to cook once in a while!

Hi!
I think June must be the chattiest thread ever!!
Re Prams - just to say I nearly bought the Loola, but finally decided on Bebecar X plus, which I bought off Ebay for £199 inc p & P. It arrived this week, together with Changing bag and Cosy Toes. The seat can be reversed like the Loola and for when baby is small there is a "soft" carrycot lie down bit. It is quite heavy at 12kg, but as i'll be walking the dog, I didnt want something too light.
So Im happy!!! I was having sleepless nights going over different prams in my head!!

PS Any one else been getting period pain aches in between their legs/fanjo (either side- TMI!), especially if walking??

Daisybump · 20/04/2007 19:29

Three more babies for the April thread....and another very quick labour at home delivered by paramedics....what are they all taking I wonder?

It'll be May babies soon, and then (yikes) us!!!!

Daisybump · 20/04/2007 19:30

hi Justbeme...I've been getting pains like that on and off for days...think its Braxton Hicks as just after it starts my uterus hardens up for about 30 secs, then it all relaxes and pain goes away.....MW told me this morning it was nothing to worry about.

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 19:34

We are the fanjo pain experts on here! If I walk for a while or move in an odd way or sometimes just move at all my fanjo feels like it's been ripped open! I'm so classy!!

More babies!! Can't believe it's going to be our turn so soon! It's kinda scary!

justbeme - sounds like the dreaded SPD. Quite a few of us suffering. See yr GP for referral to physio if poss. Got to be careful walking, climbing stairs, getting in & out of bed etc. I have heavy duty support belt now which helps posture & supports bump. Good if have to be moving/walking about a lot.

annobal · 20/04/2007 19:37

Am also getting loads of BHs - they can be quite painful at times. Thought that, being my 3rd time, my uterus would have had enough practice.

Am currently watching Scrubs and cursing that there is nothing on tv tonight - badly need some escapism...

Daisybump · 20/04/2007 19:38

where did you get the belt tallulah? Its not SPD that's bothering me, but my sacro-iliac joint on the right hand side....some days its better than others so the tubi-grip is working mostly fine. Yesterday I had on the tubigrip and the support belt I got in mothercare and that worked a treat....only for use when the weather isn't too hot though

TALLULAHBELLE · 20/04/2007 19:38

Daisy - believe the April mums all on the raspberry tea. Have already stocked up but don't think u take it till 34 or 36 weks. Need to check. Apparently, it doesn't bring on labour but does make it speedier when it happens. Can't do any harm but like all good things I bet it tastes vile

Daisybump · 20/04/2007 19:39

Apparently they get more noticeable (and painful) with successive pregnancies, Annobal....I never felt them at all with DS.

annobal · 20/04/2007 19:39

Take it from about 36 weeks I think. It is vile and is available in tablet form

annobal · 20/04/2007 19:40

Daisy - I didn't realise that - I wonder why (not that much to google and find out tho)

TALLULAHBELLE · 20/04/2007 19:40

Got the support thing from fellow MNetter but think u can get them from physio. Helps lower back pain too. My physio gave me tubigrip but unbearably itchy to wear. Found the mothercare support belt I bought just too flimsy.

annobal · 20/04/2007 19:43

Do you know if any May mums given birth yet?

Daisybump · 20/04/2007 19:43

Ooooh too much cross-posting....apparently you can get the tea in tablet form (from Holland and Barrett???) which is obvioulsy not as vile. thought about taking it, but as DH may be in Lincolnshire (he works away through the week) or even in London (he has meetings there about twice a week) I don't know of it's such a great idea....don't want him missing the main event.

He's going to talk to his boss about working from home for the week before my due date...or if he has to go to the office, coming home each evening It's a three hour commute though, so bless him for suggesting it. After my horror birth with DS, he knows how worried I am about it all.

Oooh....no DS tonight so get to have a long lie in tomorrow...although his 6:00am start is good practice I suppose

bumperlicious · 20/04/2007 19:45

Hi all, big hellos to the lurkers as well, don't be shy, you just kind of have to read through the threads couple of times to get to grips with who's doing what. And on that note I'm afraid with my work addled brain I can't remember everything I just read so hope you've all had a good day, glad appointments with MWs going ok (btw should I be worried I've still heard nothing from MW about antenatal classes at 31 odd weeks?), sorry to hear about the car, I think that was Marylou? (not sure I could cope with any new names, especially since some of you have outed your rl selves by email!), bad luck and my sympathies to everyone who is still at work. I'm starting to wonder if I'm leaving too early. If this baby is 2 weeks late that'll be 7 weeks mat leave without the baby which I would probably appreciate more the other end, but tbh I don't think I could work a moment more than I've planned.

Any reply on the slings by the way Sputnik? If not I wonder if it would save money by having them all shipped to one of us then shipping them out from within the UK (and Italy of course!)?

hollyandalice · 20/04/2007 19:52

I never had bh's with my dd, but am having loads with this one. Hopefully it means my uterus will be nice and primed and this one won't be late!

I took RLT tablets every day from 36 weeks and although dd was late she did come out v quickly, so perhaps it did work.

I think there have been 3 May babies born. One single and one set of twins, though one died .

Bumper - was thinking like u re mat leave and at first said I'd finish 1 week b4 due date. Am now so relieved that have brought it fw to 4 wks. If I'm late cd be 6 weeks of twiddling thumbs but think that really will need the rest and time to organise without other stuff crowding in and demanding our time. Enjoy the rest, I think. It will be short-lived.

bumperlicious · 20/04/2007 19:54

So, this yoga move for heart burn:

you have to kneel back against a ouffe, firm bean bag or sofa (so sofa is behind you, you are on your knees - spread apart sitting on a cushion for comfort) . Your lower and middle spine must be well supported so that you remain upright. Place a cushion under your buttocks, keep your knees apart (sorry, already said that) rest your weight on your elbows and take 10 deep breaths.

So you are upright, but kind of leaning back onto your elbows so your spine kind of curves back onto the sofa/pouffe.

Advanced move: If you have a firm support under your shoulder blades and you enjoy relaxing your head back lean right back and breathe more deeply.

So in this bit you are still kneeling but lay right back on the sofa, hands look like they re placed lightly on your chest with your elbows out. Basically looks like these moves are to open your chest. Hope that makes sense, give it a go. Cant say whether it works at it seems HB is one of the few symptoms I'm not suffering from (famous last words...)
