I’m planning to tell work after 12 week scan (if all goes well) when we also tell our parents. I want to give work plenty of notice for resourcing and I’m friends with a lot of people at work so they’ll find out anyway.

I think my MIL is definitely on to us, she keeps saying ‘any other news?’ At the end of every phone call.

I’m really nervous about the 12 week scan as it will be the first one we’ve had.

kkmotts · 23/10/2017 13:43

Thanks @Poppy012 I'm so excited! Never had a scan before, I'm really hoping this will make me feel a bit more attached to the baby because right now I almost resent it for making me feel so crappy all the time. Once I actually see it I'm sure it'll feel more real! Will they test my blood pressure at the scan as well? The midwife never did it at my first appointment which I though was strange.

Doublechocolatetiffin · 23/10/2017 13:51

Sorry I've been absent for a few weeks - trying to avoid thinking about it so I can't worry!! Scan is tomorrow though so it's now all consuming and all I'm thinking (including dreaming) about.

Welcome PossibiliTea lovely to have you here. I'm at a similar stage and my symptoms are definitely improving.

kkmotts I'm in that area! Waves

MegsMog · 23/10/2017 15:16

Ergh my 12wk scan was booked for Thursday but I got a text saying they need to rebook it - called today and they said they don't actually run the clinic on Thursdays Hmm so are having to rebook everyone who had an appointment that day! The poor woman on the phone sounded quite stressed bless her. It's now on Monday, thankfully DHs job is flexible and my mum is able to come up to look after DD for us. I know it's only a few days later but it's annoying to have to wait!

Feeling bloody shattered today even though I'm sure I slept about 10 hours last night. Nearly fell asleep reading to DD on the sofa earlier Blush

cautiousoptimist1 · 23/10/2017 15:35

Welcome PossibiliTea.

Gyoza, I had a couple of episodes of feeling really faint last time and someone recommended more protein. It might be worth trying a protein rich breakfast before your train - eggs, yogurt or a crafty sausage sandwich! Or maybe some protein bars in your handbag.

I'm feeling a little bit better today. I still feel sick and it generally gets worse throughout the day anyway but it hasn't been as bad this morning and I've managed a cup of tea (the thought of which generally has been turning my stomach!) so I feel a little more normal! My DD is finally sleeping a little better too which I'm grateful for. She wants to walk everywhere at the moment so I'm wondering if I might get away with not getting a double pram! She also loves helping with little tasks (mainly involving washing!) so I'm a little happier that she might cope with a sibling if I can give her little jobs to do and am not about to ruin her life! Wink

Is anyone else still waiting for their scan date? I'm 10+2 and knew I'd be waiting as I only had booking in on Thursday.

Whatamuddleduck · 23/10/2017 17:11

Ohhh all these scans coming up! So exciting!
I told my manager and the response was lovely which was really reassuring. Although her noticing the bump made me laugh. I told her, she looked at me and said 'clearly, how did I not notice before!'. To be fair it's mostly bloat.

Hi all sorry been awol over the weekend! Other than sore nips and being tired in the evenings I really don’t feel that pregnant. It’s starting to worry me. Though I remember feeling pretty normal at this stage last time. And everything was healthy at 6 weeks so no reason not to be? My scan is next Friday, still feels an age away... hope you’re all ok good luck for those with scans soon!

LadyPug · 23/10/2017 17:53

My scan is still three weeks away!!! Whaaaaat?! So jealous of all of you who have scans soon! I’ve got a paranoid obsession that I’ve had a MMC. No reason to think so just freaking out and so long to wait isn’t helping! :-(

HerSymphonyAndSong · 23/10/2017 18:14

Ladypug my scan is a week away and I am so anxious about a MMC, especially after my Mum told me what hers was like (it was clearly very sad for her at the time, but four children and several decades later she says it is less painful) and I keep imagining the same is happening to me

Margo5 · 23/10/2017 18:22

@firework83 and @willisurvive so nice to meet other ladies expecting twins, Firework you are due on my 40th birthday - when are you due Willisurvive?

I have my first midwife appointment on Friday at 1pm - be nice to find out more about the whole process. I had twin sisters who are sadly no longer with us (one had cerebral palsy and the other was still born) so it is a bit frightening to be carrying twins! That was a long time ago though and everything has come on so much since then. My poor Mum had no idea she was expecting 2 babies until she went into labour! My husband is also a twin! So it definitely runs in both our families and we weren’t that shocked, although they say that embryos splitting is not a hereditary thing... hmmm!

Interesting that a lot of you are saying about the light headedness, etc. That and tiredness are my main 2 symptoms. I presume the midwife will check my BP at my appointment - it’s never been low before but it does seem it is at the moment! I spoke to a midwife on the phone and she said that I just need to make sure I drink plenty of water, not get up too quick and try to take it easy...

timeisnotaline · 23/10/2017 18:37

I'm so behind on the threads, congratulations all the twins! Three sets! And to all the dating scans! Mine is not for 3 weeks exactly. I keep changing my kind about telling work - I'd like to explain why I'm being so rubbish at everything but if the 12 week scan shows baby hasn't made it I don't really want them to know... I know the odds are pretty good once you get to 9-10 weeks but still...

LadyPug · 23/10/2017 18:44

Hey hersymphony oh I’m glad I’m not alone worrying about this, I know there’s nothing we can do but sit and wait. It’s so terrifying! At least your scan isn’t too far away!

LadyPug · 23/10/2017 18:45

Hi timeisnotaline yah! Someone with the same scan date as me! I thought I was last! Really don’t know how I’m going to wait three more weeks!!! I have an event in that time too so hopefully I can hide it. I want to tell family but am dreading potential MMC!

MooChops89 · 23/10/2017 18:47

Hi everyone - fell off the thread for a few weeks as been busy with work etc but I'm back, had my dating scan today and all is good! Only one baby for me Grin was so exciting to see it wriggling around and its little heart beating ❤ feels like a weight has been lifted, I'd been so anxious that something would go wrong or there wouldn't be anything there, which I guess we've all been feeling! I've also skipped ahead by 6 days which is great!

LadyPug · 23/10/2017 18:54

Hey MooChops ah hooray! So glad to hear! It’s so awesome that 12 week scans are coming through!

Aggy106 · 23/10/2017 18:58

ladypug and symphony I'm worrying about another mmc, I had an mmc at the start of the year and then a spontaneous miscarriage in April.

It's probably not much help but you are more likely to have a successful pregnancy than not. I'm just trying to remember that worrying isn't going to change anything, just try to remember that you've got this far. I know it's easy to say and hard to do, I'm just trying to appreciate every day that I'm still pregnant. ladypug is there any way you can get a private scan in the interim if you're really worrying and three weeks feels far away?

smu06set · 23/10/2017 19:04

I lost you all! How are we on thread 3 already??
My scan isn't til 8th November, will be 12+5 then. Saw baby last week as had some bright red bleeding and got sent for a scan. Thankfully all ok, and only one baby compared to all the twins on this thread!

LadyPug · 23/10/2017 19:06

Wow Aggy you are super brave to have been through all that and be in this situation again, I’m so torn about a private scan, it’s £60 here which is quite a bit and DH wants to wait as it’s only 3 weeks (it’ll fly by for him I’m sure!)

HerSymphonyAndSong · 23/10/2017 19:09

Aggy Flowers

Kirstipops · 23/10/2017 20:50

Smu06set we have the same scan date and due date!
I felt (mostly) pretty good today, really hoping it's a sign of things to come!
My friend's sister who lives in Norway got her scan today - they only get 1 there, at 16 weeks! Imagine waiting that long!

Alou88 · 23/10/2017 21:01

@kkmots I’m bucks too 😀 had 12 week scan today and all is good. Seems so much more real, hope the dates come round quickly for you all.

Estrele · 23/10/2017 21:04

Congratulations for all the twins!!
Scans and sounding so exciting .... I had a premature one but still feel completely disconnected so can't wait for my 12 week one .... though all my appointments have been late so I am still waiting for the letter with my appointment ....
Fingers crossed for everyone and to @aggy!

Is anyone else asides from exhaustion, nausea and stretching pains suffering from continual burping? I swear it is on the increase 😣

LadyPug · 23/10/2017 22:17

Guys, my scan is 3 weeks away and I’m worried sick about potential mmc plus the whole drama of a party I’m at in 2 weeks (can’t get out of) and I’m seriously showing already, I have no hope of hiding it for another full 2 weeks! But is it silly to get a private scan at 11+5 when my real scan is at 13 + 0? Private scans here cost £60 so not cheap but I’m worried sick and can’t hide it like this for much longer! What would you guys do?

Firework83 · 23/10/2017 22:47

Thanks for the heads up on the 12 week scan info and for the congrats.

Had our scan this morning and all is well! Hematoma that was picked up week 9 has gone without bleeding so that must’ve just absorbed back into my body and twins were flinging themselves around!

One twin was measuring a bit smaller than they’d like so have to go back for another look soon but anatomy all good and limbs all in place and wagging around! Told all my family and friends today too. So relieved that I can have a little more emotional support now!

So excited for everyone else having their 12wk scans and anyone else waiting hopefully we’re your light at the end of the first trimester tunnel!

Kirstipops · 23/10/2017 22:54

ladypug if it's really stressing you then I'd go for it, a friend just did the same and she doesn't regret it.
