Congrats on the 12 weeks scans muddle and poppy, glad all is well!

MotherOfBoy · 19/10/2017 15:34

aggy in first pregnancy I barely ate for first 12 weeks and lost 4 lbs. this time round I can’t stop eating!

Oh the constipation has hit... its horrendous. Think I will be downing lactulpse tonight had a pretty unpleasant experience at a restaurant when our woth work today. No,, I wasn’t able to go and yes I am still in agony 😫

MegsMog · 19/10/2017 16:59

aggy I am constantly eating too. Hoping I can stop eating quite so much soon. Blush

New thread already, wow!

Congrats on the happy scans. Can't believe we're already at / approaching 12 week scan time.

LadyPug · 19/10/2017 17:08

I reckon there will be a whole new thread before my scan rolls around! 😩

MilfordFound · 19/10/2017 17:57

Yay new thread!
Yay scans!
Yay two twin mummies!

Mumsnet has eaten my reply twice now this is the 3rd attempt at posting.
Thanks to those who reassured me regarding iron tablets. Hopefully they may help my poop situation rather than make it worse. I'm fed up of poop holding me hostage near a toilet. If it doesn't improve I'll see the gp.

I've got my scan on Monday. I'm not going to buy any maternity clothes until afterwards. Can't wait to get some comfy trousers!

Can't stop eating I must've put on loads of weight, haven't unpacked the scales yet so don't know how much. Have to keep eating so something's in my stomach at all times, otherwise the nausea and heartburn is unbearable. I'm going to be huge Sad

Firework83 · 19/10/2017 20:12

Thanks for the congrats @Aggy106
@Poppy012
@MegsMog
@LadyPug
@MilfordFound not sure I took the twin news too well to begin with but I'm getting there!!

@hairgician I have my scan Monday morning too! Feels like it's so soon now. Excited and nervous!

Congrats @Poppy012 and @muddle. Will you be telling loved ones the news now? So exciting! Can't believe they look like that in the scan at 12 weeks when 7 weeks ago they were pretty much nothing. Women are amazing!

Poppy012 · 19/10/2017 20:39

I know it really is amazing! I had my last scan at 8 weeks and the difference in 4 weeks is unbelievable. All my close friends and family already knew from about 6 weeks due to my stresses from constant spotting!
I bet it was a real shock for you but having twins is amazing best of luck to you! X

Aggy106 · 19/10/2017 20:45

Glad it's not just me with the eating thing, I find I have to have something in my stomach too as I feel sick when I get hungry. I am absolutely obsessed with carbs, nothing else seems to help with the sickness, I didn't used to eat many carbs but now I have them every meal Blush

Aggy106 · 19/10/2017 20:47

firework and poppy it's incredible isn't it? I can't believe how much they change in such a short space of time! I've been whinging that it feels like the time is dragging but it's amazing to think 10 or 12 weeks ago they didn't even exist!

SquashyMummy · 19/10/2017 21:55

How exciting for some of us to be at 12 week scan stage. What have you all been advised re full bladder? With DS I went with a really full bladder and was told I shouldn't have and it made it harder for them to do the scan. Bit confused.

Lorz80 · 19/10/2017 22:00

Hello All!

Just marking my place on the new thread! Took me til now to work out there was a new thread. I thought it was a bit odd that no one had said anything in such a long time! :-)

MotherOfBoy · 20/10/2017 06:17

squashy with DS I was told to have full bladder I remember being desperate for a wee and them running late and the health care assistant asking me if I could just let a little bit out! How strange they told you not to! Don’t know what guidance is these days, DS is 2 so my scan was about 3 years ago now

Clickypenguin02 · 20/10/2017 06:44

Hi Ladies! I'm due on 21st and still waiting by the letterbox for my 12 week scan date. Smile

I've had a few scans already due to the pains I've been having BlushBlushBlush and had to have a ridiculously full bladder with all of them.

I can't wait for the 12 week one and finally seeing the back of the first trimester!!

Margo5 · 20/10/2017 08:03

Hi ladies - can I join?
Our TWINS are due 28 May - eek! Grin We had IVF after several years of trying and 1 very early miscarriage 18 months ago. It was our first IVF attempt and our twins are from the same embryo (although we had 2 put back!) so they are in one gestational sac but have their own placentas and amniotic sacs. This is apparently very unusual!
We found out at an early viability scan a week ago - I am now 8 weeks and 4 days pregnant. It was so amazing to see 2 good sized babies and heartbeats! My husband is happy but still in shock, I am very excited and we feel blessed and so lucky! They will be our first children and we are both 39 - my 40th is in early May so it could be a very memorable birthday!
Firework I see you are expecting twins, is anyone else? It's very overwhelming!
xx

Dorotha · 20/10/2017 08:16

@Margo5 welcome and congratulations! My friend used to run a fertility clinic and once they had a case where a woman was implanted with two embryos and ended up having triplets for the same reason as you! :)

Margo5 · 20/10/2017 08:25

Dorotha yes, there was a scary moment where they were looking for a third from the second embryo Shock

cautiousoptimist1 · 20/10/2017 08:40

Thank you for the new thread muddle.

Congratulations on the lovely scans!

3 sets of twins! Welcome margo and congratulations.

I had my booking in appointment yesterday at 9+5 so I'm waiting for my scan date now. I lost 800ml of blood last time and was told before I left the delivery room that I'd be consultant led this time, that didn't bother me until all the hospital downgrades meant that I'd have to travel to the big hospital to give birth but thankfully I was told yesterday that they now only refer to consultant led for over a litre loss. So I've named the lovely spa like MLU as my primary choice hoping to get another water birth. The midwife still has to review my notes from last time with a consultant midwife to confirm what happened and ensure they can keep me safe but I'm so relieved that I have options.

Firework83 · 20/10/2017 09:11

Yes @Margo5 congrats. That's 3 of us now expecting twins! Glad we're not alone. They are my first too. Due 4th May I think so have my 12 week scan on Monday! x

Kirstipops · 20/10/2017 09:16

Wow 3 sets of twins! Welcome margo and clicky Brew !
I'm 10 weeks today, fx'd the sickness, lethargy and moods will start to fade soon. I also feel sick when I begin to feel hungry but once the nausea faded with my first baby my appetite calmed down a bit. Plus as you get bigger you find you have less room to stuff yourself anywayGrin
My scan is 2 weeks, last time I had to go pee a little "but not too much" because my crazy large bladder was full and squishing the baby Blush It wasn't that easy to stop midflow, it'd be harder this time round I bet 🙈

LadyPug · 20/10/2017 09:31

Welcome clicky we’re due date twins! And welcome Margo - eeeek! Three sets of twins! How exciting!

Dorotha · 20/10/2017 10:26

I don’t know how I’m going to maintain a full bladder because I seem to pee every 15 minutes 😳 Had to go to the toilet TWICE last night and I’m only 11 weeks!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 20/10/2017 10:34

I'm worried about that too Dorotha. My scan appt is at 9.10 though so I am hopeful that they won't have got delayed at that time yet at least!

PhoenixDown · 20/10/2017 11:30

My scan letter says to drink 2 PINTS of water an hour before! LMAO, I certainly will not be doing that. Nearly wet myself the first time. Second time I drank a small bottle of water beforehand and that was enough. Honestly, 2 pints will overfill the bladder, WTF are they thinking??

Welcome clicky and margo!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 20/10/2017 12:51

I used to drink two pints of water after waking up (over the course of an hour or so) and would need the loo when I got to work. I can't do it now because the volume of water makes me vomit and I can't hang on until I get to work!

kkmotts · 20/10/2017 16:28

Hey guys, I've not posted since thread 1 then I lost track! I have my first scan on Tuesday 24th next week. I think I'm 13 weeks on that day, but it still doesn't seem real! This is my first pregnancy, I've been really nauseous and been sick most morning and some evenings since about week 6. Really hoping it goes away soon! I read today that folic acid can make you feel more sick so thinking of stopping that soon, is it right that once you're past 12 weeks it doesn't really do much for you anyway? I'm taking vitD as well. Starting to get a bit of a belly so will be a relief to finally tell people!
People at work keep making me tea and I just let them stack up on the desk, nobody has noticed yet!
Going to buy some maternity clothes this weekend to get a bit more comfortable. I've not put on any weight since I found out, is this normal?! I've not lost anything either though. The midwife I had my first meeting with has now left for a new trust and I don't have the details for the one replacing her yet so feel like I have nobody to call with these sorts of questions! I enjoy reading your stories and comments :)
