How exciting that all the scans are coming up. Can’t believe how quickly it is going.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 20/10/2017 18:12

Weeks 5 to 9 draaaaaagged, but things do feel like they are moving quicker now!

borthy · 20/10/2017 18:35

Clickypenguin02 and LadyPug, I am also due on 21st. I'm 36 and it's my first pregnancy after two years trying. First scan is on Nov 14th (when I'll be 13 weeks, 2 days). The long wait is testing my patience a bit. Have told a few friends but not work or family yet.

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 20/10/2017 19:52

Right, am going to get better at keeping up with this new thread! Congrats to all of those with 12 week scans and extra to those expecting twins! Mine is on Tuesday when I'll be exactly 12 weeks

scoutcat · 20/10/2017 20:20

Somebody at work noticed my bloated belly and got suspicious. I’m only 8 weeks! 😳
Congratulations to everyone having their 12 week scans! I can’t wait for mine. ☺️

HerSymphonyAndSong · 20/10/2017 20:35

Cheeky bugger scoutcat - they should keep their suspicions to themselves!

willisurvive2under2 · 20/10/2017 22:40

Hi @Margo5 and @Firework83, I’m the other twin pregnancy! I already have a 14 month old DS, I was NOT expecting twins! I think it’s started to sink in and I’m feeling slightly more positive. I cried for 2 days after the scan. I’m due on 15th but I’m guessing we won’t get to May?!

Mine are in two different sacks. No twins at all in either family, it’s quite a big surprise for everyone!

willisurvive2under2 · 21/10/2017 00:17

And congratulations of course!!

Noredwine · 21/10/2017 08:36

Hi all - penny has only just dropped that there must be a new thread!! Kept thinking there was a problem with Mumsnet or my phone! Duh.
Congratulations to willisurvive fireworks and Margo for twins!! So exciting! My younger brother and sister are twins and I was 2.5 years when they were born and I apparently loved it and was really good at helping and the twins were great at entertaining themselves together when they got to toddler stage so I reckon you will be fine willisurvive!
Have my 12 week scan in an hour and despite seeing pip squeak at 10.5 weeks I am still convinced he/she won't be there today! Hoping all will be well and then I can perhaps start to relax and enjoy first pregnancy! X

Aggy106 · 21/10/2017 08:47

Congratulations on the three sets of twins! Glad things are starting to settle in.

kk I'm not sure about how long you have to take folic acid and vitamin d, can you check with your midwife? The multivitamins I'm taking definately make me feel more sick though too.

scoutcat that's so rude! They should keep their thoughts to themselves!

Hope the scan goes well nored!

HerSymphonyAndSong · 21/10/2017 08:59

I think it is vit d throughout but you can stop folic acid at 12 weeks

The all-in-one pregnancy multivitamin is the thing that has made me actually vomit

willisurvive2under2 · 21/10/2017 09:46

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

@Noredwine Keep us posted, very exciting!

LadyPug · 21/10/2017 09:54

Good luck noredwine let us know how it goes!

Small drama at my end - a child at dds nursery has slapped cheek. Although he hasn’t come into contact with dd that I know of, if she catches it I won’t know and it can harm baby (by the time her symptoms show it’s past contagious point) so think I’m going to have to have bloods taken to check if I’m immune and see what’s going on. I’m phobic about blood being taken! :-(

MotherOfBoy · 21/10/2017 11:47

kkmotts yes no weight gain v normal for first trimester. You aren’t expected to gain wait til trimester 2 really. I have put on half a pound so far (10 weeks) but my weight fluctuates quite a lot anyway so really haven’t put on any!

Got my scan letter today. It tells me if I park at hospital to all ONE HOUR to find a car park space, that roadworks are causing severe delays getting into the hospital and to use their means of transport if necessary. Fuck me?! I have to drive as we live in the middle of nowhere! I’m basically going to need to whole day out of work as scan is at 11.40, it says to allow at least an hour for the appt (that’s if they are running to time!) and the hospital is an hour away. So that would mean leaving Home at about 9.30 and not getting back til about 2pm :O at the earliest! This sounds like madness to me, had none of this with DS but then was at a different hospital

MotherOfBoy · 21/10/2017 11:48

That should say other means of transport

LadyPug · 21/10/2017 11:55

That’s crazy mother is it soon? Could you book it as holiday? I know that would suck but then you could relax.

How are you noredwine are you back yet?

LadyPug · 21/10/2017 18:28

Where is everyone? I’m so rough, just lying down feeling like poo. Are you all off having lives as you’re weeks ahead? Lol

cautiousoptimist1 · 21/10/2017 18:44

That's crazy mother, it's not JR is it?

Hope your scan went well nored.

Ladypug, I'm also still feeling rubbish but I now also have a cold. We told my in laws today and they were very pleased which was nice.

Noredwine · 21/10/2017 19:40

Weird - posted earlier but not showing! 12 week scan was fine! So pleased and now finally can start feeling excited instead of anxious!

LadyPug · 21/10/2017 20:06

Oh cautious sorry you’re feeling crap too! It’s rubbish isn’t it?! Hooray nored was thinking of you! I’m living through everyone else’s scan experiences!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 21/10/2017 22:23

Still here ladypug - finally got to officially tell someone as my parents came over today. They are very excited for us, they already adore DS and will love having another grandchild

Firework83 · 21/10/2017 22:44

@willisurvive yeah I believe full term for twins is 37 weeks if you make it that far fingers crossed so that would actually put me in April (current DD 5th May). We can do this! Mine are in different placentas / sacks too but I have 1 set of non-identical cousins on my Mum's side so does run in the family.

Those of you who have had your 12wk scan... is it just scan and out or do you get the chance to sit down and have a chat again? I feel like I have more questions this time!

Noredwine · 21/10/2017 23:31

Thanks ladypug! Hope you feel better soon. I have been out at a 40th house party with DH and it is sooooo dull when you can't drink and everyone else is!! 😂 but was lovely to share my news finally with my sisters in law

willisurvive2under2 · 22/10/2017 07:11

@Firework83 I have been told at the private scan to inform the hospital that it’s twins as I will need a double appointment for my 12 week scan. Apparently it takes double as long to do all the measurements. They also take bloods for your trisomies tests (if you decide to have them) and at my hospital offer you a flu jab. Not sure if it’s the same everywhere.

LadyPug · 22/10/2017 10:13

Ah hey Tiramisu that’s good! Nice to tell ppl isn’t it??
