Hi all, hope everybody is doing well!

I have been following along silently for a while but have just mustered the courage to post! Bit late at 18 weeks tomorrow but have been really struggling with anxiety. Only just starting to accept that I might actually have a baby in May next year!! Shock

Could somebody point me in the direction of who I should message to join the Facebook group please?

PhoenixDown · 19/12/2017 16:38

Hi ladies, I keep forgetting to post with real life getting in the way, but I'm checking in now and again! I'm 17+4 today :o 20 week scan on 5th Jan. Also I feel bloody huge, I'm sure my bump is massive for 17 weeks, I honestly feel like the size I was at 28 ish weeks with my first!

hello amateurcynic, welcome :) I suffer with anxiety and depression and have actually been signed off work with it for a while, am hoping to be back next month. Hope it gets better for you Flowers Sounds like we are due similar time, I'm 24th May.

cautiousoptimist1 · 19/12/2017 17:46

I'm the same Phoenix, feels much more obvious this time around! I was in normal jeans until 6 months last time but I'm in maternity jeans already and I'm 18+3. We're scan date buddies!

Elvi1 · 19/12/2017 22:17

Hi amateurcynic - I think Doublechocolatetiffin can add you to the fb group. PM her.

Noredwine · 19/12/2017 23:34

Anyone else suddenly feeling really nauseous again? I'm 21 weeks now and feel shattered and like sick stuck in my throat (TMI sorry!) I can't wait for a few days break at Christmas!
Still not feeling pip squeak either- had what I think was a tiny twitch/flutter a couple of times a week or two ago now but nothing more! Really want to start feeling him/her so can really know they are in there and all ok!

Piewraith · 20/12/2017 00:23

Yep still sick here. Vomited the last few mornings and felt sick in the evenings.

Noredwine · 20/12/2017 08:13

Ugh Pie at least I am not actually being sick - sorry you are still so rough! I have woken up this morning with really strong hunger pains! Definitely think pip squeak must be having a growth spurt as don't usually feel so hungry when I get up! Had a proper dinner last night too! Double breakfast for me I think!

Blueberry1 · 20/12/2017 12:40

@PhoenixDown - since I was about 14 weeks people have been saying I look big for my stage of development (including a retired midwife!) and asking if it's twins Blush (three scans confirm just 1 baby!).

I think some of it is down to body shape as I have long legs and a short body and look quite big, whereas my friend who is approaching 30 weeks who has a long body, doesn't look very big. I've gained 5 kilos, which feels like a lot, but it's almost all on the bump, so from behind, I still look normally slim.

Sympathy to @amateurcynic & @PhoenixDown on feeling anxious. I was a bit anxious in 1st trimester as being over 40, the chances of something going wrong were higher, but since then I've felt fine. I've also been madly busy at work the last 2 months, which gave me lots of other things to worry about...

@NoRedWine & @PieWrath - sorry to hear nausea has come back. Mine hasn't touch wood but maybe there is still time?

amateurcynic · 20/12/2017 21:29

Evening all, just been the only sober one in the room at another Christmas party! Had to make my excuses and slip away, it's not quite the same when can't join in!

@PhoenixDown, thanks so much for your message! I feel like everyone is expecting me to be entirely happy and excited, which of course I am, but also so paranoid and anxious! It helps to know I'm not the only one struggling. Really sorry to hear you've been feeling bad though - how are you getting on at the moment? And yes I'm 22nd May! Smile

@Elvi1, cheers for that! Have sent a PM. Smile

@Noredwine, I've been feeling much better for the last few weeks but then last week randomly had my worst day of sickness yet. No idea why. I also haven't felt anything I'd class as a definite movement, just flutters which may or may not be indigestion. Hmm

@Blueberry1, thank you! Yes I almost feel like I've had too much time on my hands to worry over the last few weeks. But I'm going to be really busy over the next few months with various things so hopefully that coupled with the 20 week scan should help!

MilfordFound · 22/12/2017 13:01

Had first consultant appt today because I'm high risk due to pph last time. Except consultant wasn't there, so saw a trainee who then reported to a registrar in another room while we waited.

Not much info given or discussed, I don't think he was very experienced in obstetrics as he couldn't answer the questions I had. I know this is how trainees learn, but it's a bit frustrating!

They're going to request my notes from the last birth to see why I had such a big blood loss and see me again at 28 weeks. I asked about c section and he said that would be decided later but he talked about all the risks and tried to put me off a bit.

Oh well, I'll see what they say in 2 months time!

Noredwine · 23/12/2017 11:00

Felt first proper kicks or twists last night whilst in bed lying on my side next to hubbie and he felt some too! 22 weeks tomorrow! Have another scan on Friday too! Feeling really happy and excited now! Haven't bought anything yet but might be brave and order a cot bundle soon! Smile

cautiousoptimist1 · 23/12/2017 13:09

That's annoying Milford, must feel like a waste of time. Surely the trainee could have led the discussion but had a supervisor or mentor there to enable your questions to be answered.

Nored, I seem to recall some January sales being pretty good for cots and furniture. It was still a bit early for me last time but other people have commented on it.

MilfordFound · 26/12/2017 06:42

Merry Christmas mamas! Hope you've all had a lovely time!

I sat on the floor all day playing with my daughter and her new presents. I am paying for it now, my pelvis, hips and back are so sore I'm hobbling around.

Looking forward to a day of leftovers, mmm food.

I did have a little image of this time next year with new baby, double the fun, double the chaos, double the mess. Double the love :-)

Wishing you all a restful day xx

Noredwine · 26/12/2017 09:47

Merry Christmas all! Hope you all had a lovely Christmas Day and manage to get a bit of a break from work/usual routine! Pip squeak now squirming around a bit more frequently which is lovely- had a bit of a panic on Cmas Eve as went out to garage over our slippy decking in garden and on way back to house slipped badly and fell awkwardly with a right thump onto decking - crashing into all Xmas booze that was outside backdoor to keep cold - luckily I managed to twist sideways and get one hand down so landed on side and cracked one knee and hip and twisted other ankle but managed to avoid landing on bump! Properly shocked and cried like a baby and stomach felt all tight and painful for a bit afterwards but think it was just because I tensed hard when landing and twisted! Pip squeak seems ok and no bleeding whatsoever so reckon I avoided squashing him/her! Gave me a proper fright though! Glad I have another scan on 29th anyway so can check all still ok! X

MilfordFound · 27/12/2017 21:04

@noredwine yikes, hope you're feeling better! Horrible to have a fall when you're pregnant.

Needmorehands · 27/12/2017 21:34

Hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas :)

Noredwine · 29/12/2017 20:51

Had another scan today - to do the checks they couldn't do last time. Amazing how much pip squeak has grown in 3 weeks! All fine with final checks including base of spine and pip squeak was wriggling around a lot. 😍 great reassurance after my fall on Xmas eve. Ordered travel system from mothercare yesterday as was on offer and after scan today I have ordered cot too! Feeling really real now!

2ashamed2Bnamed · 30/12/2017 22:22

Bit late to the party but can I join you all here?

Found the link on another "due May" post. Found out a week ago I'm due our fourth on May 15th and could do with some company at similar stages.

Wineandpyjamas · 01/01/2018 11:56

Hi everyone, I've been lurking awhile but am still quite new to mumsnet so just got up nerve to post. I'm 21 weeks today and due 14th May. Would be great to chat to others who are in same position!

Needmorehands · 01/01/2018 20:15

Hi 2ashamed, we're due date twins! I'm expecting our 5th!
Welcome wine, love your title! Its a pretty quiet thread, but definitely not scary :)
Yay for the good news Noredwine, loving you getting your sale bargains :) Which travel system have you decided on? They've changed so much since I bought one for DS1 11yrs ago. DH and I were going to look at pushchairs after the scan on 27th but we decided to wallpaper the lounge instead :D Have to say, it looks fab!

Wineandpyjamas · 01/01/2018 20:23

Wow @needmorehands having your 5th! How old are your dc? My dd is 3 so luckily we still have the travel system we got for her along with the car seat that goes with it. Yeah the title is 2 of my fave things! Although now it's fake wine Grin
Quiet threads are quite nice I think as some of them go so quickly with so many people it's difficult to keep track!

Needmorehands · 02/01/2018 08:48

Number 5 is a surprise. There is a bigger age difference between 4+5 than between 1+4! I thought I was getting my life back a bit, all 4 in school and started my own business, big birthday this summer... its taken quite a lot of readjustment. But we told the kids about bump yesterday and they are excited which was nice, I wasn't sure the youngest would be happy to give up her position as family baby. Their name suggestions include Elsa and Spartacus!

Wineandpyjamas · 02/01/2018 14:36

Haha they would be bang on trend with Elsa! Not so sure about Spartacus Confused Apparently I wanted to call my little brother France. Sounds like they're all excited about new baby brother or sister - do you know the sex yet?

MilfordFound · 02/01/2018 21:44

Had the second attempt at a 20 week scan this afternoon (22 weeks) and they still couldn't get the right pictures of the baby's heart. Last time the sonographer was very upbeat about it and said baby was being awkward and in the wrong position. This time the sonographer looked concerned.

Have to go back tomorrow morning for a 4d scan done by the consultant. I'm a bit scared! My partner will have to stay at home to look after our toddler so I'll be on my own.

Keep you fingers crossed for me!

HandbagFan · 02/01/2018 22:17

Welcome to 2ashamed and WineandPyjamas, lovely to have you on the thread.

MilfordFound try not to read too much into the sonography looking worried - I had problems with the heart checks when pregnant with DS and they were fretting about getting me seen in time, not about anything they’d seen. He was absolutely fine. It’s just they want the anomaly checks completed by 22 weeks in case you have to make the decision to tmfr which needs to be decided and auctioned by 24 weeks. I’m sure you’ll be absolutely fine.

I’m 19+5 today, scan happening on thursday. Hoping this will make it all a bit more real even though I have a bump and have felt movements for weeks now. Can’t believe I’m half way through already!
