hello just to let you know I have my phone glued to me and am not going anywhere today so will update as soon as Eddas texts me (it'll be online blog od eddas contractions!)

My dd2(eddas goddaughter) kindly had me up at 5.45 this morning so I was able to text eddas (think dd2 getting excited about her new friend arriving)before she left for hospital and I have neigbours on stand by to look after dd1 and dd2 in case she needs me God I am so excited!!!!

maveta · 12/04/2007 08:49

Congrats LesleyR!!!! Can´t wait to hear more whenever you are up for it xxxx

GOOD LUCK - Eddas / Doghouse / Claricebean - what a lot of possible arrivals for today! All really picking up now, how fabulous. Just dawned on me that feeling excited about more and more arrivals may, within the next couple of weeks, push me from excitement about my own to complete fear of being the last one standing!!! Don´t leave me behind girls!!!

Rainy grey day here but that´s just fine by me, going to do a bit of cleaning and a lot of lazing around, no need to go out...

IsabellyMoi · 12/04/2007 08:52

Well done Lesley! Fantastic news and a wonderful name.

Very exciting on here last night - I was up and online 'til just before CB posted so managed to just miss the excitement.

Good luck to Eddas and Doghouse, too. Come on babies!

Nutty - sorry about the sore throat and unsypathetic DH. My goodness! Hope you feel better soon and can get some much-needed rest.

Discovered at MW app't yesterday that baby's head is still free...so I'm now officially "High Head at Term"....burrow down little bean!

Emmymummy - I know you've mentioned swollen ankles. I had no puffiness 'til 39 weeks but now look a little like the elephant man. Ho hum.

Thanks, again, EllieK for all the wonderful updates. We're all very lucky to have you on this thread! Hope you see some action soon (for your sake - not for ours...we need you around!).

EllieKthePA · 12/04/2007 08:58

i was sleeping, but poor Lesley, bless her, must have known what news-hungry crazy women you all are and wanted to let you know her news asap, 1.5 hours after the birth

these new ladies only joined us in the last few weeks and we've done this to them already

Just nipping off to work, but remembered Birdie too - All the Best - hon - If they monitor you and check you etc and all is ok with bubs DON'T let them induce you - It is ok to go a little longer than 48 hrs - so STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS!!!!!!! [hugs]

Gotta buzz .... sure Ellie will keep me informed with any exciting developments ....

EllieKthePA · 12/04/2007 09:04

Well ladies, i'm back

zazas · 12/04/2007 09:31

Congratulations LesleyR - well done, look forward to hearing how it went
And good luck for - Eddas / Doghouse / Claricebean - labour vibes all the way!

I should have come on here last night up since 4am due to DP's snoring something he normally never does! I swear he has woken me up more through this pregnancy than mebeing pregnant. What with his leg cramps / sore back / bad dreams - PITA! Anyway got to watch HomeBirth on TV at 5.30am - not sure if I find it inspiring or not...

Well another day passes here, nothing happening, no contractions / waters breaking - I am destined to do the school run on Monday with no baby

We now have DP's kids with us - so the thought of going into labour with 4 kids around is probably going to keep it from happening. I have a vision of me in the birthing pool and they running past through to the garden, leaving the door open and asking for DP to play football or to get the bikes out and telling all the neighbours' kids what is happening

weeonion · 12/04/2007 09:42

eddas ???!!!! what is the news?????

congrats lesley - cant wait to hear more!!

anyone heard anything from hotlips - was she not getting some action last night? doghouse - hope you are ok, tens working fine and you are on your way.
claricebean - things shoudl really be underway now???

nutty - hope the throat is better - tho' i must admit i lol at vision of yr dh standing outside quietly knocking the window after posting throat pastilles through. did you ever let him in??

MIAMT - hope the email to phil worked. maybe a bit of you two time is needed?
liath - meant to say - great to see you back and great as well that you are feeling a bit more up. have a grand time with dh off work

i really dont think this bean is for budging - she is way too comfy in there and i am not in too much discomfort, able to move/ beetle around and still out trekking round. shuold i be concerend??? there is chuff all signs of any early / impending labour - no shows etc etc..

sopl - didnt you have a show days ago?? no further updates from you??

Eddas · 12/04/2007 09:59

Congrats to Runny, whywhywhy and Lesley!!!

And all the best to everyone with imminent labour action!

Rant alert - had a blah day yesterday - got call from Dr's surgery saying I needed to re-take a blood test as my blood sugar was high but they couldn't fit me in until Monday (to take one sample of blood?). Then got another call saying there was a prescription for iron tablets left for me as my iron levels were too low. V. mad as these tests should have been done by m/w about a month ago but she had said since all my others had been fine there was no need to re-do them. Was only because Dr insisted when I saw her on the 2nd that they got done at all. Also mad at myself as I should have insisted they were re-done by m/w.

So I picked up the prescription and it was dated a week ago - had taken them a week to phone me after getting the results!! Was v. . Then started panicking about the high blood sugar and of course that was when our 'perfect' friend (who is also pregnant) dropped in and the first words out of her mouth were 'Look at the size of you!! I've only got a tiny bump' (Because you're only 23 weeks pregnant!!!!!!!) Which made me panic even more that I have developed diabetes (runs in family) and baby is too big.

Anyway, after no sleep, did what I should have done yesterday and got on phone this morning to Dr and she fit me in to re-do blood tomorrow so I don't have to wait until Monday and re-assured me result was only slightly high and she wasn't worried, just wanted to be sure.

Sorry for rant! In good news had my hair cut & colour sorted yesterday and was fussed over by everyone in salon which was lovely, have never been offered so many cups of tea or magazines!

EllieKthePA · 12/04/2007 10:08

aww bumble, it'll be fine i'm sure

EllieKthePA · 12/04/2007 10:08

Ellieandhattie???????????? if Eddas won't tell us, you'll have to

OP posts:
Eddas · 12/04/2007 10:08

Ok then, well here's my day so far:

Got up at 5.30am, got ready left at 6.30am.

Got to hospital at about 6.45am. MW says we've had a busy night. Just about to change shifts to the day staff and i'm not sure they'll induce you today.

Day staff come on. We won't do it today because we are very busy

They check me over and tell me to ring tomorrow morning at 5.30am to see if they can fit me in, lol

So we are home. Baby still where it was. No induction. No nothing. Just tired and f**in pissed off with the crappy NHS!!! If they'd not shut the other maternity ward they'd have been able to fit me in!!!

Anyway, not sure what happens if they can't fit me in tomorrow because mw said they won't do it at the weekend and they have their 3 inductions booked in for monday already!!!!

F*in joke really

bumble75 · 12/04/2007 10:10

Thanks Ellie! Think I was just on super over-react mode yesterday!

Congrats to Birdie - love the name!

Eddas - please tell!

EllieKthePA · 12/04/2007 10:10

oh Eddas

does make you wonder, if it's so dangerous to our babies to go overdue, why can they postpone induction when it suits them?

OP posts:
EllieKthePA · 12/04/2007 10:11

Birdie, if you're reading this, Captain Dippy sends her congratulations and says it's a beautiful name

and me too of course

OP posts:
bumble75 · 12/04/2007 10:13

x-post sorry - Eddas, that is so shit! So frustrating...

Eddas · 12/04/2007 10:15

The hospital mw checked my notes and said are you being induced just because you're overdue. Which is right, had no complications, nice simple pg. Just can't go into labour by myself, both pg's have been straight forward!!

She was very matter of fact when i asked what if they can't do it tomorrow,'well we don't normally induced til 14 days overdue' To which i replied well why did my mw book me in today then

You'll have to ask her said the smirked face!! God if she's sarky after being at work about half hour can you imagine her at the end of her shift!!!

Anyway, some good news as my book now says the baby is 3/5th so obviously has engaged again! And it is not breech.

muminamassivetummy · 12/04/2007 10:15

Eddas - that is disgusting - I am so cross for you!!!!
God I hope they don't do that to me on Monday!!!

Congratulations to Birdiebump too - a water birth - was that the first water birth??

Morning Weeonion! and everyone else - I am just off now for last antenatal appointment and they are taking lots of blood they need in case Ihave to have a transfusion during my section (how reassuring )

catch you later

more babies please!
x

EllieKthePA · 12/04/2007 10:17

Eddas - message from Dippy -
maybe you should try elsewhere? did they check baby or anything? so frustrating. was similar when i had S x

OP posts:
weeonion · 12/04/2007 10:20

congrats birdie - pink news for today!!

eddas - bloodyhell - that is so maddening. all the mental prep you go through to get ready for a time / date they set and then they are too busy. what woudl happen if you went into labour naturally?? they woudl surely have to fit you in then??
a nct friend went naturally, pretty much laboured ll at home, went in - labour suite ull so they had her sit in waiting room - full of people heading to early preg unit and day careunit. she couldnt get gas and air there and ended up delivering in the bathroom of one of the postnatal wards. she actually had a really good birth and enjoyed it but FFS - close down units / beds and then women cant get the minimum level of service!

and we are all meant to be gettign the choice of a home birth in 2 yrs. [hmmm]

sorry eddas - that didnt really help you. hope you are now takign it easier hon. xoxo
