I got my sleep all sorted but this week has all gone haywire again and cannot get to sleep at all - too much in head I think!

Good luck again - thinking of you xxxx

Please send real labour vibes asap

claricebean · 12/04/2007 01:25

DD2 was the fastest. Woke up at 4am with mild contractions and she was born at 7.23am. Thought DS (3rd) would be the same and hence rushed into hospital on first contraction and then failed to get anywhere. Spent the day fighting of the syntocinon drip and finally succumbed early evening. He was born an hour later, but it was all a bit OTT for me. Hoping to feel more in control of this one.

claricebean · 12/04/2007 01:26

Promise to send all my labour vibes to you, octo, as soon as I've finished with them

Pesha · 12/04/2007 01:28

Help with dc sounds great! Am looking after my sisters nearly 2yr old for a couple of hours fri but noone wants to take mine Was saying to dp earlier if the hospital kick me out soon after having baby I may have to lie to my mum and pretend Im still there so we can get a little break before they come back

You do really deserve it tho CB, I know you've had to manage quite alot till now havent you

Pesha · 12/04/2007 01:30

Sorry taking too long to post again, brain is running abit slow tonight so please ignore anything stupid i say

I know what you mean about feeling out of control, it makes such a difference doesnt it?

claricebean · 12/04/2007 01:30

Good plan, Pesha. Put the answerphone on, keep the curtains drawn and pretend you're still in hospital. I like it.

Yes, it's been a trying few months with DH away, chicken pox, DH getting ill, DS's broken leg and - the piece de la resistance - my lovely haemorrhoids and the four trips to surgery. I can laugh about it now. So I reckon I'm owed an easy labour. Fingers crossed.

Pesha · 12/04/2007 01:35

At least the babys waited the extra bit longer to give jim and gemma (was that it?!) time to recover a little!

So how does it feel knowing its all nearly over now and the next stage is about to begin? Or is that a really stupid question

claricebean · 12/04/2007 01:39

YEs, Jim and Gemma. Good memory. Bless them. Am hoping we don't meet again in the aftermath, so to speak.

I feel excited at the thought of metting her at last and of never being pg again. But very apprehensive about the birth (more so than with any other birth). With DD1 I didn't know what to expect, but it was a good first labour. That gave me confidence with DD2. And then I expected DS's to be a breeze, which it wasn't. So we'll see.

Oh, another contraction. Painful but can still type through it, so not bad.

Pesha · 12/04/2007 01:47

Oh dont say that, this is my 3rd and im expecting it to be a breeze!

Actually keep trying to make myself think about worse possible scenarios and what could go wrong and how ill deal with it so that if it isnt a breeze i will hopefully be mentally prepared and better able to cope with it. I thibk alot of it is about how you feel. First labour was a nightmare and I felt out of control from the moment I lay on the hospital bed, determined not to feel like that again!

I know they say when you're having contractions mws place alot of significance on if you can talk through them or not, do you think the same goes for typing through them

So how long was that gap, getting any closer? And tell me if thats one of those annoying things to ask cos if so ill stop

claricebean · 12/04/2007 01:53

Gap is still about 20 mins. Earlier in the evening they were 15, then slowed to 30 /40, so am happy they've picked up again. Not an annoying question at all!!

Sorry for scaring you about no. 3. I think it's just that it was my first in Spain and I wasn't really prepared for the difference in attitude. Here it's very much a medical procedure to get the baby out rather than a natural process. So from the moment I arrived, at only 3cm dilated and having been in labour for all of about half an hour, they wanted to speed things up artificially. I held off for a while, but I never really felt in control. At one point they told me I was in their ward and they were in charge of what happened when. Nice gesture to a labouring woman!!

This time I know what to expect so feel a lot more positive in that sense.

Pesha · 12/04/2007 02:02

I notice that attitude in the american birth programmes it drives me mad, I cant watch them anymore. Like in friends when rachel is in labour for hours and hours, im sat here screaming at the telly 'get up and fucking walk about then you stupid woman' Well I dont actually scream at the telly but it does bug me!

But if you know what to expect this time thats got to be a huge help. And you have your mum and your dh with you and your tens so can manage as long as you feel able to at home and then when you get to hospital there wont be much for them to interfere with And seems like things are progressing quite nicely for you now

claricebean · 12/04/2007 02:02

Well, it's 3am here. Not sure whether to try and nap between contractions before they get too strong. May give it a go. Hope you have a good night's sleep, Pesha.

Pesha · 12/04/2007 02:08

Was just about to say i have to go to bed now, dont anyone tell my dp how late ive stayed up!

Good luck with it all CB, im sure it will all be fine now you know what to expect. Hope you get some sleep and look forward to hearing all about your lovely baby tomorrow

(or later today I should say!)

Night night

You're having a baby

nuttygirl · 12/04/2007 03:09

Good Luck CB.

Well I can't sleep. My sore throat is just too sore. I've had paracetamol and it's not helped and fucking useless husband won't go for any lockets (they're ok in pregnancy but the ones I had were 3 years out of date and were minging). He's told me I'll have to wait til he gets up this morning. I'm so and . I've had about 2 nights of decent sleep in the past month, one of them being last night. Was hoping to sleep well tonight but I can't cos he won't go to the fucking supermarket. I've got a sweep tomorrow and, if it were to work, I could theoretically be in labour tomorrow...exactly how does he think I'm gonna manage that with no fucking sleep.

nuttygirl · 12/04/2007 03:52

Sorry for my rants...just ignore me!!!

H has now come downstairs and stopped me taking another paracetamol (apparently if the 1st one didn't work there's no point me having another ) oh yeah and the tv's on too loud...so apparently I have to sit here in silence and in pain. He's now gone to Asda (cos I've told him how fucking selfish he is) so I've bloody well locked him out.

Have you taken anything for your sore throat? I don't know what's set it off...it started all of a sudden this afternoon.
