Go Gimble! Well done girl!!

Nessalina · 12/10/2017 05:56

Ah wonderful news @GimbleInTheWabe !! FlowersSmile

mummabubs · 12/10/2017 06:12

Yay!!! Mahoosive congrats Gimble!!! 😊 You must be so utterly happy to finally have the wait over and done with and to have your precious baby out with you! So happy for you.

Yup, same with me @xflipflopx, mine aren't timed that well so I had my 38 week appointment at 38+6 and I've got my "40 week" appointment today when I'm actually 40+6. After you've gone overdue though if it's your first child you get appointments weekly- so technically this might as well be my 40 and my 41 week appointment in one!

boxesoffrogs · 12/10/2017 06:52

Yay! Congrats!!!!! 9lbs!!! Whoop, you did it xx

TippetyTapWriter · 12/10/2017 07:52

Congratulations gimble! What lovely news! Hope you're all doing well x

asilikeit · 12/10/2017 08:18

Congratulations @GimbleInTheWabe !

I had some painful cramping yesterday afternoon that lasted maybe an hour or so and then tailed off but now I think I may be loosing my plug- a browny discharge but could also be from sweep on Tuesday? Who knows! I have another booked in tomorrow if nothing has happened. Fingers crossed!

wapsmahoney · 12/10/2017 09:01

Yes gimble so happy for you!!
All the waiting was worth it!
Hope you guys are doing ok ... enjoy every minute of the amazing cuddles 😊

PingusMistress · 12/10/2017 10:23

Brilliant, congratulations @GimbleInTheWabe ! I did notice you had gone a bit quiet and hoped that meant good news! Well done you Smile

Congrats Gimble! I'm quite enjoying logging on every day to see the latest news! Feels like there's not many of us left now...

xflipflopx · 12/10/2017 13:04

Congratulations @GimbleInTheWabe. 9lb-er you go girl!
So exciting all these babies.
Whose next??
@PingusMistress sciatica is a Bitch! I've been suffering for a good 10 weeks now and by the end of the day I'm nearly on my knees with it. Hopefully not long to go now for everyone and it will just go after birth.
Good @mummabubs at your midwife appt hope alls well.
Friday 13th tomorrow...wonder how many will go into labour tonight not wanting too Grin

mummabubs · 12/10/2017 14:43

So I just had my midwife appointment which was slightly interesting... she wasn't even going to examine me and hadn't realised that we didn't have any additional appointments booked, so when she said "bye" to me after less than 3 minutes in the room I said "shouldn't I be offered a cervical exam and possibly a membrane sweep?" She replied "I can't do that until you're overdue"... 🙄 Once I'd reiterated for the third time that I'm very much overdue she had a mild panic and immediately gave me a stretch and sweep, booked two more and an induction date for next week as she panicked and realised I'm getting close to the "maximum" my trust allows you to go over by. Pretty much every appointment I've been to she completely forgets how far along I am and asks multiple times so I am used to it but it does scare me a bit to think that had I not said anything I'd have had no further appointments arranged/nothing done!

On a happier note the stretch and sweep didn't hurt a bit, and apparently I'm already soft and 1cm dilated. But my cervix is still quite thick and posterior so it could literally go either way now! Fingers crossed for everyone else who are due v soon xx

boxesoffrogs · 12/10/2017 17:21

Ugh mamabubs that does sound so frustrating and really disorganised. Mind you, fingers crossed things will get going soon.

Last day of work tomorrow... what was I thinking? Due in ten days!!! I just haven't got the energy or the motivation. On the plus side, people keep bringing me snacks which is nice...

pollybythesea · 12/10/2017 17:48

Hey congrats gimbleinthewabe! Look forward to hearing your story

I'm totally bedbound with migraines (getting 2-3 a week now) which seem to be brought on by walking/pelvic pain. Not how I imagined the end of this pregnancy to be at all!

Due Sunday so let's see what happens....

Bobbiepin · 12/10/2017 17:51

@mummabubbs that sounds so irritating. Well done for standing your ground. You'll have baby bubs here before you know it.

@boxes you're insane! Hopefully you get some time before baby arrives. Hope you're taking it easy at work too.

mummabubs · 12/10/2017 18:15

Thanks @Bobbiepin, I hope so. Wouldn't surprise me if I still need the next S&S I've got booked for Saturday mind! Since the sweep I've had some spotting (which I'd completely expected) but so far nothing new. Will have to just wait and see I guess!

@pollybythesea that sounds nasty, hope you're managing to get some rest and hope the migraines ease up soon. Xx

Bobbiepin · 12/10/2017 19:14

Vindaloo for you tonight @mummabubs. Long walk and a bit of hanky panky should do you. My NCT woman was a big advocate of nipple tweaking!

Cineraria · 12/10/2017 19:32

Great news Gimble! Hope you're feeling well and enjoying your little one being on the outside at last.

Can't believe your midwife mummabubs. Mine kept asking me the due date and how many weeks I was too even with my notes in front of her but at least did the right appointment when I told her!

Hope you feel better soon, Polly.

PingusMistress · 12/10/2017 20:11

@boxesoffrogs it is my last official day at work tomorrow too! Hope your colleagues give you a good send off. I’ll probably do a few bits of admin and tidying next week but I’ve had enough of eight hour days.

Sorry to hear you are suffering with migraines @pollybythesea , I get them occasionally but it must be horrific not to be able to take your usual medication for them. It must be hard to leave the house in case one strikes. Also sorry that you are suffering from sciatica too @pollybythesea . Mine is not too bad in the day when I’m active but gets worse at night, it makes me shout out loud sometimes!

Glad your sweep went well @mummabubs , sounds promising! Ditsy midwives are not good though. Will she be your midwife during labour too?

I’m going to write my birth plan this evening. Better late than never!

No idea what happened with the bold text there, sorry...

I had spicy pasta for tea @Bobbiepin and now feeling really, really sick. (Could be labour... could equally be the half a Terry's chocolate orange I polished off for pudding! 🙈)

My midwife is a lovely person @Cineraria but I have to say I've found her quite disorganised as a midwife. My 36 week appointment was cancelled so I went a whole month without seeing her and she was on A/L the week either side, so I had some questions written down when I saw her for my 38 week appointment and she was quite impatient with answering my Qs... and my 36 week appointment stuff was never done, so no discussion re birth plan or labour so I've researched and done it myself. Also every time I see her she tells me I need to be less anxious and stay calm... Which boggles me as I'm very calm and don't feel stressed or anxious apart from when she forgets things and tells me not to be anxious! 😂😂 No-one's perfect I suppose but I have to say I've realised I had quite high expectations of what the midwife journey would be like!

mummabubs · 12/10/2017 21:18

@PingusMistress don't think she will be. The final scatiness was she booked to see me next week, then 2 minutes later said "so I won't see you again", I said "oh, I thought we just made an appointment for next week" and she just replied that there's no point now that she's booked the induction for later in the week?! I was thinking how the heck am I supposed to know that if you don't tell me?! 😂😂

GimbleInTheWabe · 12/10/2017 22:22

Hi everyone, thanks for all the well wishes. Still in hospital now and felt a bit very teary when DP just left to go home so that one of us could get a good night sleep. He slept on the floor last night bless him.

So here’s my labour story, not my waterbirth that I’d hoped for but a positive experience nonetheless!

My waters broke on Tuesday night (after bake off- thanks boy!) and then after a full nights sleep I woke up with contractions and the labour ward telling me to come in to get checked out. Went in and was only 1cm but waters had broken and was sent home. Then had 6ish hours of contractions ramping up and getting closer together but the pain was manageable with breathing. I Lay down for a little rest and then all of a sudden pop! And a huge gush of water came out! Then things went from 0-100 with very painful contractions. Anyway went in to hospital at this point and had to wait about 50 mins to be seen in the triage by the mw who disappeared ! By this point I was pushing and not being able to stop and I was thinking ‘how am I going to do this for hours more?!’. Another mw came in and checked me and said that babies head was showing and I was fully dilated Shock anyway I was rushed to a room and after an hour of pushing (which is so much better than just contraction pain I promise!) our little boy was born. Couldn’t believe how quickly it all ramped up! 2 hrs before I was at home! Sadly I had a 3rd degree tear so had to go straight in to theatre (I was totally numbed for this and it wasn’t painful at all) and then came out and was able to get skin to skin and feed our little boy, who still has no name but is totally perfect and healthy. Pic attached of my squishy faced boob loving baby

You can do this ladies! My labour started from nowhere really and I had very few signs or symptoms before so try not to send yourself too crazy like I did. Also it was dtd with DP that did the trick Wink

@gimble he is absolutely perfect, what a beautiful little boy. Those lips are scrumptious!! Sounds like you did an amazing job, you should be very proud.

@mummabubs half a chocolate orange is a perfectly reasonable dessert. Maybe have a rennie or something to calm your stomach. I'd guess you'd wanna avoid chucking up through labour!

TheLegendOfBeans · 12/10/2017 22:51

Hello! My turn: our baby arrived at 1645 today, 39+1.

He's ok; bit struggly with breathing but fighting back.

I'm in love all over again

boxesoffrogs · 13/10/2017 07:17

legend congrats! And glad to hear he is a little fighter! Hope you are feeling well.

gimble he is adorable!!! Congrats again.

Off to my last day of work - finally!!
