Hi everyone, thanks for all the well wishes. Still in hospital now and felt a bit very teary when DP just left to go home so that one of us could get a good night sleep. He slept on the floor last night bless him.
So here’s my labour story, not my waterbirth that I’d hoped for but a positive experience nonetheless!
My waters broke on Tuesday night (after bake off- thanks boy!) and then after a full nights sleep I woke up with contractions and the labour ward telling me to come in to get checked out. Went in and was only 1cm but waters had broken and was sent home. Then had 6ish hours of contractions ramping up and getting closer together but the pain was manageable with breathing. I Lay down for a little rest and then all of a sudden pop! And a huge gush of water came out! Then things went from 0-100 with very painful contractions. Anyway went in to hospital at this point and had to wait about 50 mins to be seen in the triage by the mw who disappeared ! By this point I was pushing and not being able to stop and I was thinking ‘how am I going to do this for hours more?!’. Another mw came in and checked me and said that babies head was showing and I was fully dilated
anyway I was rushed to a room and after an hour of pushing (which is so much better than just contraction pain I promise!) our little boy was born. Couldn’t believe how quickly it all ramped up! 2 hrs before I was at home! Sadly I had a 3rd degree tear so had to go straight in to theatre (I was totally numbed for this and it wasn’t painful at all) and then came out and was able to get skin to skin and feed our little boy, who still has no name but is totally perfect and healthy. You can do this ladies! My labour started from nowhere really and I had very few signs or symptoms before so try not to send yourself too crazy like I did. Also it was dtd with DP that did the trick
