GimbleInTheWabe · 10/10/2017 18:03

Thanks @Nessalina! Just got home- looooong wait!. Luckily waters hadn’t broken, as otherwise I think they would have definitely induced me tomorrow. She did an internal exam and I’m not dilated or effaced at all. But I def think things are going the right way- have had lots of CM, cramping, back ache, twinges, so compared to having no signs or symptoms I feel like things are starting naturally and can progress over the next day or so. She also said things look positive for delivering in the midwife led unit so FX they stay that way. She’s booked me in for an induction for Thursday however so I’m really hoping things move along enough before then. And I get to stay home and watch bake off - woo!

How’s everyone else getting along?

mummabubs · 10/10/2017 18:08

Oooo sounds like things are definitely moving for you Gimble! I swing between believing that labour might occur naturally and then moments of despair thinking that I'm clearly destined to go way overdue and need an induction, which takes away my MLU waterbirth dream. Today I had a few strong tightenings within an hour that lasted 30 seconds and were more painful than my usual BHs, but no surprise they've disappeared 😩

PingusMistress · 10/10/2017 20:23

Hope baby is on their way @GimbleInTheWabe , sounds very hopeful!

I'm also trying to chill out watching Bake Off. At my consultant appointment today my blood pressure was borderline high again, and there was lots of talk of induction (which didn't help to get it any lower!). They let me go home after a couple of hours as I don't have any other symptoms, but I have to go and have it measured again tomorrow with the midwife and then twice a week after that. I'm starting to think it's very unlikely that I'll get to my due date of 28th! I'll be happy to get to the end of the week when my maternity leave starts. It's a vicious circle as I'm stressed about getting all my work done before baby arrives, which raises my blood pressure, which makes baby more likely to arrive early... aargh! Grin

Hope bake off is chilling you out too! Are you still heading in to work then @PingusMistress? Or do you wfh?

Had an epic nap when I got back home (fell asleep listening to the hypnobirthing cd!) then DP woke me up for gbbo, felt soooo sick but luckily wasn’t. Still feel crampy and lots of cm so hoping things don’t just suddenly come to an abrupt end!

How are things post sweep @asilikeit?

PingusMistress · 10/10/2017 21:52

Bake off helped, although I want to eat pizza and pastries now! I WFH freelance and need to finish a project for a client or I won't get paid for it, despite the fact that they faffed about for ages deciding what they wanted. Angry Should be done by end of the week if baby doesn't throw a spanner in the works!

pollybythesea · 10/10/2017 22:11

Thanks for starting the new thread! 39+3 here, and not really any new symptoms except loads more BH, hot all the time and mild cramps at night time. My NCT ladies are all having their babies now I will deffo be the last of that crew to pop! Walking is really difficult right now so I just feel a bit housebound and unsettled as normally super active Confused

pollybythesea · 10/10/2017 22:13

Hey pingusmistress I also work freelance from home and just took on another job this week since I was stuck indoors anyway - but I totally know the feeling of wanting to get it done fast!

asilikeit · 11/10/2017 04:32

@GimbleInTheWabe I have been fairly crampy on and off all day but not enough to get too excited about I don't think. Just a huge relief that body was doing something and getting itself ready. And now I can't sleep! So uncomfortable now of a night time. Baby may as well be here!
Hoping a walk along the beach tomorrow might push the little one a little further down too!

mrsbumblebees · 11/10/2017 06:57

asilikeit I'm another that can't sleep at the moment, and I can't even work out why. Some nights I'm uncomfortable but last night I was awake 2-4pm for no reason at all that I could tell, and I'm wide awake again now, urgh. Everyone keeps telling me to make the most of sleep now before baby gets here, and I'm sleeping worse than I ever have before!

mummabubs · 11/10/2017 07:43

I've been the same asilikeit and bumble- last 3 weeks or so I've literally had between 3-4 hours broken sleep a night and apart from the last couple of days where I've managed to get up at 7 I've had to get up between 5:30-6 as I'm just so uncomfortable! On the plus I'm surviving on this amount of sleep so when I get the many comments of "get all the sleep you can now" I just tell myself I'm having the best heads up practice that I can before baby comes along so maybe the sleep deprivation won't seem as bad? Hope you're both able to get some rest/sleep x

asilikeit · 11/10/2017 09:10

Lack of sleep has had its effect this morning- I've managed to fall down the stairs - newly painted and carpeted Angry- and chuck a whole cup of coffee all over. Feeling very crampy now and hospital want to see me. Grrrr

TippetyTapWriter · 11/10/2017 09:17

Good luck gimble and asilikeit. Hopefully things keep progressing!

I'm having a grumpy morning so far but I know it's really because I'm getting nervous. If my growth scan was right this baby is already about 9lbs and I can't understand why she's not ready to come out yet! I feel like I'm doing the right things, staying active, not that I have any choice as I have ds to look after. I walk about 4-6 miles a day taking him to groups, park, shops. I never sit down except for an hour or two when he goes to bed. Surely that must be shifting baby down! I'm just scared I'm going to go overdue and give birth to a monster 10lb+ baby! And though the consultant dismissed it I've read in a couple of places that big babies are a risk for vbac. Grumble grumble etc.

Another one who watched bake off and ended up with a mad craving for pizza! In the spirit of moaning though I wish they'd do more cake. I miss the cake.

SophieGiroux · 11/10/2017 09:39

@asilikeit OMG! That would be enough to put anyone in a grumpy mood! I need to get my stairs carpeted but don't fancy having strangers in the house now.

SophieGiroux · 11/10/2017 09:40

@TippetyTapWriter I agree about bake off, it's gone too savoury, I like seeing the cakes but looks like next week will be quite good for that. Felt sorry for them this week, it looked boiling in that tent!

TippetyTapWriter · 11/10/2017 09:47

X-posted with you asilikeit. Yikes poor you!! Hope you're ok? It's the law of sod isn't it.

TheLegendOfBeans · 11/10/2017 10:10

Oh man, feeling it with the fellow insomniacs at present. I'm awake every night between 4 and 5am just basically going "argh I am away to have a baby".

Am desperate for the next wee while to pass fast, I just want to meet my baby x

xflipflopx · 11/10/2017 10:58

Morning ladies...
@asilikeit that sucks but I LOVE the colour of your carpet by the way. Wink
Off to my 38 weeks midwife appt today so let's see what problems they give me today. I've had baby's heartrate too fast, caught slapped cheek early on so had regular scans for months. thrush throughout, pgp, sciatica, insomnia, low blood pressure, blurred vision...the list is endless!
And breathe...
Hopefully they say go home and eat cake your absolutely fine! Then my waters will go Grin
Anyway now I've cheered you all up I'll be off Grin

asilikeit · 11/10/2017 11:47

I am very thankful I went for dark grey carpet! 😂

Hospital checked me over- baby happy and I'm ok- having some tightenings and back and lower bump is very crampy so I'm hoping a combination of sweep yesterday and a bump this morning will get baby moving!

It's my birthday on Friday and I'm determined I'm not sharing it but I feel like the universe has other plans! Smile

Nessalina · 11/10/2017 13:02

Glad you're ok @asilikeit that must have been a bit scary! When I scrolled down the thread quickly I was a bit shocked coz I thought that was your 'look my waters have gone' picture GrinGrinGrin

Cineraria · 11/10/2017 17:00

So glad you are ok, asilikeit! Hope the mark comes off the wall too. I felt like that about DS's birthday, which was while I was being induced and luckily his brother didn't fancy sharing either! Fingers crossed your baby also wants his/her own special day.

Hope today's appointment was uneventful, flipflop

Bobbiepin · 11/10/2017 18:03

@asilikeit ouch! Hope you're both ok. Try one of those magic sponges for getting the coffee out the wall, they remove anything!

xflipflopx · 11/10/2017 20:56

Yes I had a great check up today thank you
First time I've come away with no problems Smile
Can I ask when do you all have check ups like how often?
Mine have been two weekly for the last 6 weeks and today I'm 38+2 and midwife won't see me again now till 40+2.
I thought they went to weekly appts at this stage. She said they won't do a sweep until 41 weeks (not that I'll push for that) so maybe I won't see my midwife pregnant again as may of had baby by then.

PingusMistress · 11/10/2017 22:27

Good to hear that you and baby are okay @asilikeit . I find it very scary how easy it would be to do that when carrying a newborn.

Glad you had a good midwife appointment @xflipflopx . Mine was fine too, blood pressure still high but not too high. I have to go back every Tuesday and Friday to have it measured until baby arrives, so I can't be much help on what the normal patten of midwife visits should be! She also diagnosed me with sciatica in my left hip after I got beached on the examination table and couldn't get up cos of the shooting pains. It was extremely inelegant!

GimbleInTheWabe · 12/10/2017 03:06

He’s here! Smile born at 10:16pm yesterday and is a 9lb-er!

Will return with labour story soon.

He’s so perfect and I can’t believe I did it!

TheLegendOfBeans · 12/10/2017 04:12
