Just catching up after a crazy few first baby days. I feel like I’m in some kind of weird alternative time zone, no idea what day or time it is! Apart from I know it is the day of the massive boobies as my milk has just come in.
Massive congratulations on all the new arrivals @mummabubs @TippetyTapWriter @Bobbiepin , see you on the grads thread! Those of you still waiting, it really won’t be long now. Good luck to you all!
So to add a bit more detail to what happened with baby Pingu (now called Lewis), I had a feeling on Saturday that something might be starting as I’d had the runs in the morning and a show in the afternoon. I woke up at midnight with mild contractions every six minutes, they only lasted ten seconds and were quite bearable. But being second baby I knew what they were. Then at 2.30am I had a really strong one and my waters broke, and strong contractions started coming every 2minutes - luckily our child care had just arrived so we went straight to the hospital. I was 4cm dilated but progressing rapidly so they ran the pool, and by the time I got in i was nearly ready to push. I started gas and air at that point too - pool + gas and air was awesome and I wanted to have him in the pool. Unfortunately his heart rate started dropping though and I had to get out, ending up with a ventouse delivery again to whip him out quick (just like with DD), which wasn’t fun (no pain relief) but it was over quickly. So five hours from first contraction to delivery, although my official labour time in my notes is only 1 hour 54 minutes! I had some second degree tearing but the stitches were nothing compared to the birth, I hardly noticed them being done as I was too busy having cuddles. It was much more intense than my first birth but definitely better, I just feel like I’ve been hit by a small car this time instead of a freight train!
Lewis is just gorgeous and such a good baby, so far he is sleeping in his crib and Moses basket for a couple of hours at a time and feeding well. He doesn’t cry much apart from at nappy changes. His big sister loves him.
I will stay around here to offer moral support to those of you still waiting, come on babies!
