Congratulations on the recent arrivals! I was booked in for Induction today but I’ve delayed it To Saturday in the Hope little dude comes along of his own accord. Symptom spotting all over the place which is driving me crazy. 41 weeks today can’t believe he isn’t here

TippetyTapWriter · 23/10/2017 19:46

She's here! Zoe Jane, 9lb 6! Section went ok though she had a lot of mucus and they took her off to the resuss room for a worrying few mins. She's fine though and so far has either fed or cried so I think I might have another lively one on my hands!

Hope you're all well x

asilikeit · 23/10/2017 20:06

Congratulations on all the new arrivals! I've spent the last few days getting my head around breast feeding ! Hard work!

Those that have had sections, get plenty of rest, keep on tout of your pain med and don't be afraid to ask for anything stronger the day after etc , Smile

TheLegendOfBeans · 23/10/2017 20:08

Same start as DS had...it's a scary thing isn't it @TippetyTapWriter but at a whopping 9lb plus she'll be on the road to recovery soon - congrats to you xx

Bobbiepin · 23/10/2017 20:24

@tippety congratulations!! Glad little Zoe is doing ok now.

leannejade · 23/10/2017 22:02

39+5 today!
Went to triage yesterday as thought my waters may have leaked. Started losing my plug on Saturday morning, and then after they tested to see if my waters had gone (they hadn’t) with the speculum, my bloody show started!
Apparently the midwife said she wouldn’t be surprised if it all starts within 48 hours, but I’ve had nothing today! Bleeding stopped this morning and now it’s just a waiting game.

Midwives in the morning (40w exactly!) and will be offered a sweep but am going to turn it down this time to see if things progress naturally (what I’m hoping for) - would love it if he arrived on his due date!

leannejade · 23/10/2017 22:03

I mean I’m 39+6 today - silly me!

xflipflopx · 23/10/2017 23:26

Congrats @TippetyTapWriter
So end of the due date day and nothing nada zero signs baby is coming.
I hope in writing that I’ve just tempted fate and my waters go tonight. Grin

boxesoffrogs · 24/10/2017 07:24

Congrats everyone!!! Hope you are all enjoying lovely baby snuggles and are recovering well!

Still here... obviously. should probably fill in my birth plan... 😂 getting a bit scared now. Sweep booked for Thursday if nothing has happened by then, will be 40+4. Not sure how successful it will be.

xflipflopx due date been and gone? Remember you aren't allowed to have yours before I have mine! Joke. Sort of.

I am off to get some final things for my hospital bag. Anyone got any good recommendations for snacks and things to keep you sane during labour? I am guessing vodka is out...

xflipflopx · 24/10/2017 07:57

@boxesoffrogs this is a race to the end Wink
Although fairly certain you’ll win.
I have in my bag some lucozade tablets/sweets Midwife said will be good for energy levels in labour.
Oh and I am partial to a Kriss Kross puzzle book so one of them is essential just incase labour gets boring Grin
I see Midwife tomorrow when I’ll be 40+2 and she said if I REALLY persist she will sweep me but wouldn’t normally until 41 weeks.
Think I’m gona ask for the sweep...its half term where I am so would like to bring baby home with my dc off so we can be together for a few days. That would be ideal but of course nothing is ideal in pregnancy.

butterybean · 24/10/2017 10:28

41 weeks today and no sign of anything...tried sex, seriously hot curry, pineapple.... midwife tomorrow to see what she suggests....Confused

Bobbiepin · 25/10/2017 02:37

Baby girl Bobbiepin arrived on 24th October at 9.23pm weighing 7lbs 12oz. Fairly straightforward labour except for a little muconium. I couldn't switch off so DH has gone home to get some sleep - bless him, he'd not got to bed yet when my waters went at 2am and only had a little nap when we were sent home. He was a great support. Me and my little girl are having a cuddle so she doesnt scream down the whole postnatal ward!

xflipflopx · 25/10/2017 07:23

Aww congratulations @Bobbiepin!
Another baby has arrived.

Not many of us left now... we can do this

TippetyTapWriter · 25/10/2017 08:14

Congrats bobbiepin! She timed it well with the wedding! Enjoy the cuddles.

Good luck to everyone else still waiting. It won't be much longer! And honestly, do get what rest you can. Baby has woken up every 10-20mins the two nights since being born. The last time I slept was Sunday night! Hoping to go home from hospital today. Fingers crossed she sleeps better at home where it's quieter.

boxesoffrogs · 25/10/2017 08:44

Yay bobbiepin!! Congrats!!!

Who is actually still waiting apart from me and xflipflopx???

Keep getting messages asking where the baby is, and then getting replies like 'oh don't worry I was 300 weeks late, plenty of time' !!!! Aargh!

TheLegendOfBeans · 25/10/2017 08:46

Aw congrats @bobbiepin xxx

PingusMistress · 25/10/2017 08:56

Just catching up after a crazy few first baby days. I feel like I’m in some kind of weird alternative time zone, no idea what day or time it is! Apart from I know it is the day of the massive boobies as my milk has just come in.

Massive congratulations on all the new arrivals @mummabubs @TippetyTapWriter @Bobbiepin , see you on the grads thread! Those of you still waiting, it really won’t be long now. Good luck to you all!

So to add a bit more detail to what happened with baby Pingu (now called Lewis), I had a feeling on Saturday that something might be starting as I’d had the runs in the morning and a show in the afternoon. I woke up at midnight with mild contractions every six minutes, they only lasted ten seconds and were quite bearable. But being second baby I knew what they were. Then at 2.30am I had a really strong one and my waters broke, and strong contractions started coming every 2minutes - luckily our child care had just arrived so we went straight to the hospital. I was 4cm dilated but progressing rapidly so they ran the pool, and by the time I got in i was nearly ready to push. I started gas and air at that point too - pool + gas and air was awesome and I wanted to have him in the pool. Unfortunately his heart rate started dropping though and I had to get out, ending up with a ventouse delivery again to whip him out quick (just like with DD), which wasn’t fun (no pain relief) but it was over quickly. So five hours from first contraction to delivery, although my official labour time in my notes is only 1 hour 54 minutes! I had some second degree tearing but the stitches were nothing compared to the birth, I hardly noticed them being done as I was too busy having cuddles. It was much more intense than my first birth but definitely better, I just feel like I’ve been hit by a small car this time instead of a freight train!

Lewis is just gorgeous and such a good baby, so far he is sleeping in his crib and Moses basket for a couple of hours at a time and feeding well. He doesn’t cry much apart from at nappy changes. His big sister loves him.

I will stay around here to offer moral support to those of you still waiting, come on babies!

xflipflopx · 25/10/2017 17:56

So 40+2 and had my first sweep today wasn’t too bad actually.
Cervix short 50% effaced she could feel completely round baby’s head.
Fingers crossed something happens.
I feel slightly tender but I just want to get on with things.
How is everybody else???

boxesoffrogs · 25/10/2017 18:55

Got my sweep tomorrow... glad to hear yours wasn't too bad... not sure what to expect, apart from the obvious! My friend today comfortingly told me that she found it worse than actual labour - oh goodo! Guessing there is no reason for dp to come as well...

Weather was beautiful here today so took the dog for a long walk, then had a cup of tea outside at the garden centre with my mum. Apart from that, I am just ridiculously hungry!

pollybythesea · 25/10/2017 20:52

Still waiting here @boxesoffrogs ! 41+3

xflipflopx · 25/10/2017 21:11

Feeling a few aches and pains now but no different to be honest from what I’ve been getting anyway at night.
@pollybythesea I don’t know how you’ve stayed sane! I’m going mad already and honestly could throw my phone away right now with every Tom dick and Harry asking how are you? Anything happened yet? I’m getting cross thinking your just nosey you don’t actually care! (Overdue baby anger kicking in)
@boxesoffrogs just remember to stay calm and deep breaths when it gets painful. She said to me tell me to stop if it’s too much but it never got too much.
I know it’s not long to wait and the days are going pretty fast actually but COME ON!
Everyone seems to be having their babies around me Angry

xflipflopx · 25/10/2017 21:18

@boxesoffrogs I wouldn’t waste dp’s time unless you really want him there as it takes 5 mins and there’s nothing for them to do apart from watch.
I find im tougher on my own I go into wimp mode if there’s someone to moan to.

boxesoffrogs · 26/10/2017 09:45

Any news polly and flipflop???

Just preparing myself for this sweep thing... ugh I am such a wimp, and if I am honest, not keen on the idea of someone having a good old poke around down there. Guess I had better man up and get used to it eh??

xflipflopx · 26/10/2017 14:58

Hi all my baby girl came into the world this morning at 9:49am weighing 7lb 9oz.
Four hours after first contraction
She’s so worth being torn apart for.
@boxesoffrogs sweep defo worked for me. Fingers crossed for you. Xxx

mummabubs · 26/10/2017 15:14

Congrats @xflipflopx! Hope you aren't too torn apart (says me following an episiotomy!)

@boxesoffrogs I hope your sweep goes ok, I honestly didn't feel the first one at all. Xx
