@mummabubs congratulations on your little arrival! I’m so excited for you!! Hopefully you’ll have a quick recovery and on your way home soon!
@pollybythesea I’m still pregnant too
that’s me bang on 41 weeks today. Had a MW appointment today and I’ve been booked in for an induced for Saturday evening unless I go before then. Had a sweep today and feeing a little crampy since so hopefully things will start moving along.
Not sure if I’ve said before but because we’re on an island the only equipment we have on the island is the same you’d get at a home birth as it’s a cottage hospital here, inflatable birth pool and a Doppler. So in order to be induced means I have to travel to the mainland.
I can refuse the pessary on Saturday night but will have to stay overnight to be monitored. And once I get to 42 weeks, unless I’ve already been induced, I have to travel to the mainland twice a week for monitoring and the usual testing (a cost of £50 a trip to take the car) and I can only come back home in between monitoring sessions if they allow the midwife cover to be extended as there’s only 1 midwife on the island normally. So if I’m not in labour by 4pm Saturday or have given birth I’m off to the mainland until I’m induced or go into labour naturally.
I’ve always said I would refused to be induced again but DD1 (21 months) has never been away from me over night so I can see myself agreeing to be induced purely so I can get home to be with my DD and not being stuck on the mainland indefinitely. All in all I’m feeling very deflated / upset about it and on the birthing ball giving it laldy
