Riss · 04/04/2007 14:23

Thanks - that could work but then I've got to buy all the drinks !

lissielouwithbunnyears · 04/04/2007 14:26

just time your drinks so youre out of step with the round, or tell them you have a headache and had to take some nureofen before you went out!

Riss · 04/04/2007 14:44

Hey you're good at this lissie - thanks!

GemBean · 04/04/2007 14:47

Hi, have been a lurker on mumsnet for a while but this is my first post, looks like Im preggers again too! Due, I think, Dec 6th, have a DD who is 13 months, Oh My God. Went out last night and craftily got away with no drinking by saying DD is teetheing so would be up all night. Seemed to work.

lissielouwithbunnyears · 04/04/2007 14:49

lol, with ds i worked in a restaurant so after work id make 1 tonic last til everyone else had finished and got another drink then get another one so id be out of the round

lissielouwithbunnyears · 04/04/2007 14:51

lol, just been asked by MiL if im pg again coz ive been sick while here. said no but grinned like a loon!

BeansterMum · 04/04/2007 15:17

Hi to all they new mummies-to-be - more and more of us now.

Barrellrider - glad you mentioned period type pains - my last pg with DD 2 yrs ago was brilliant - no ms, no pains, nothing but feel all very different this time and was beginning to panic - just odd little twinges - but sounds like nothing to get overly worried about.

Riss - same dilema for me - off to IL's this weekend and they as weren't exactly over the moon and supportive last time, really don't want to tell them this early on. As they only drink Red wine and know I like white, I'm planning on decanting some alcohol free stuff into a couple of screw top normal wine bottles and fake it basically - one advantage of the screw top I suppose!

Still knackered and boobs aching a bit - and seem to have lost my appitite - not an overly bad thing as still 2 st heavier than pre-DD

Apologies for the long messages from me, but I only get to post one every so often so have to cover lots each time

lissielouwithbunnyears · 04/04/2007 15:22

lol, try to remember how much your body changes in the 1st few weeks. aches and pains are v natural!

Riss · 04/04/2007 15:31

Does anyone else wake up ridiculously early? 4am this morning! I'm knackered.

lissielouwithbunnyears · 04/04/2007 15:34

lol, its all preparation!

Riss · 04/04/2007 15:40

ha ha - yes true!

Also is it ok to fly - I'm going on an 8 hr flight tomorrow? Sorry for so many questions, I'm new to this pregnancy thing

lissielouwithbunnyears · 04/04/2007 15:43

you should be, but drink plenty of water and tell the steward/ess that you are pg on boarding. where are you going?

Riss · 04/04/2007 15:47

New York - can't wait! Thanks for the water advice - although I'm drinking like a very thirsty thing at the moment so it shouldn't be a problem!

JARM · 04/04/2007 15:51

Hi all!

How are we all?

Took the DD's to soft play this morning and am now SHATTERED! Have had a little kip on the sofa but am still so tired! Not helped by being awake at 5.30am today because of DD1! (Roll on winter when its dark again!)

Has anyone else thought about maternity clothes yet? im a short arse heffer anyway so struggle really badly for maternity clothes - anyone got any ideas for cheap stuff?!

Lissie - take it MIL didnt believe you! Huge congrats though hun and glad this one seems to be going well so far xxx

Im not feeling as rough as I did last week - its still the tiredness that is killing me.

Hope you are all doing well.

Hi JARM - short arses unite - why do all the fancy smart maternity shops only do up to 14 or 16????? And blooming Marvelous does to 20 but charges for it!! Still looking myself - wondering if this seasons smock tops may hide my addiction to Jaffa Cakes and also the bump when it grows? I bet New Look (which has a section which does proper womens sizes) will have loads in. Let me know if you find any jolly but not cost the earth places

thelady · 04/04/2007 17:11

Having had a quick look at maternity tops, I think the sewing machine may be getting a workout! I'm already having to make my own blouses - big D-cup with narrow shoulders means either I can do them up or the shoulders/sleeves fit. What is it with manufacturers anyway - my shoulders don't get any wider nor my arms longer when I'm a 16/18 as oppposed to a 12/14 (many years since!).

Maternity trousers I think I'll buy though!

lissielouwithbunnyears · 04/04/2007 18:28

shit, think MiLs caught on, just thrown up my shepherds pie and weed for the 100th time, she keeps smiling at me!

tombliboo · 04/04/2007 18:40

Hello all, gosh this thread is growing nicely - just like our little babies! Congrats to all the new joiners to this thread.

Jarm, glad to see I'm not the only one who's resorted to having afternoon naps! I'm just knackered all the time, sure I wasn't this bad 1st time round.

Riss, you should be ok to fly. Just be careful and take things easy.

Cazzybabs, that pain you describe might be your ovary/corpus luteum(sp?) working overtime to support baby til the placenta takes over? I remember getting twinges on one side of my pelvis with DD. Try not to worry (easier said than done I know).

Only 6 weeks and already my clothes are getting tight! Don't want to jinx things by wearing maternity clothes til I get my 12 scan (roll on 21st May!) Current fashion for long loose jumpers and smock tops should tide me over til then. Think I saw some nice stuff in Uniglo (plus its nice and cheap!)

Ambi · 04/04/2007 21:39

Ok the shock has subsided, and has now started to sink in. Hubby wasn't over excited, more wary as we have friends who've had mcs, esp with no1. Trying to do some research about it all as it's new to me, but have def felt different today, stomach a little unstable, boobs sore(but only from afternoon onwards) very tired, cannot stop yawning, swollen abdomen and a bit crampy. Think i might see if I can get to see my GP asap, oh EDD I think is 14th Dec

mad4girls · 04/04/2007 22:21
