Over here girls - sorry for the abuse on the last one, but this is the happy one!

Lets get started!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FurryFox · 16/04/2007 12:58

Ambi - My cycles are always 37 days but used several differen't calculators and they gave me two differen't dates. Oh well, will have to wait and see.

Congratulations fleacircus I know what you mean about expecting AF to appear. I only tested last Tuesday for the first four days after thought she would show up. I now believe I'm pg but still knicker watching 25th December - now that's a proper Christmas baby but when do they come on time anyway

skidaddle · 16/04/2007 13:12

Furry I just worked it out here (sorry don;t know how to do links)
www.askdramy.com/ovulationcalc.html
and it gave me a different date again!! never mind, as long as they come out eventually...

Welcome fleacircus - think the 25th is a GREAT day to have a baby - will get you off cooking the lunch and all those awful family stresses. you can just relax in your hospital bed with your baby while your dp/dh runs around after his inlaws

mrsdarcy · 16/04/2007 14:51

Hello everyone .

I have managed to speak to a community midwife who is arranging a prescription for high-dose folic acid for me.

She said to get myself booked in so I can speak to the consultant about a care plan. I want to keep things as un-medical as possible - ideally I wouldn't even be getting booked in just yet - but I guess once I am on their system I can have a bit more control over everything. Last time I was driven mad by millions of scans which were initially offered to reassure me, but ended up making my head spin!

So, I'm being booked in next Monday, by the lovely midwife who looked after me last time. We have lovely community midwives here and I'm looking forward to seeing her.

bambino1 · 16/04/2007 14:55

Hi all, Just thought i'd join all that are in the same boat as me! I'm due 15th dec 2007!!! All very exciting. this will be my 2nd and I can't wait although worried about getting through first few months.

skidaddle · 16/04/2007 15:29

Hi and congratulations bambino - is this your first?

bambino1 · 16/04/2007 15:36

No it will be my second, dd will be 3 in August. Glad I've left a bit of a gap but also worried as she is prob going to find it hard.
I have my first midwife on monday 23rd. can't remember what happens at this. anyone help?

BeansterMum · 16/04/2007 15:40

Blimey - a few days off and loads of newbies and messages.

As predicted, my Appt with the doc was unispiring to say the least. Actually not too bad - she confirmed that in Central Scotland I do get 2 scans but at 14 to 16 weeks then 20 ?! they dont' do the Nuchal Fold scan so we'll need to go privately if we go that route. trying to get an early appt to see the MW though as at 12 - 14 weeks would be too late for NFS.

All in things ok - knackered toady so skiving off work - I'd only shout at people for silly things anyway! was awake most of the night for no reason but then exhasuted during the day - anyone else getting that one?

Mad4it - am too a proper size (18) and found last time Next and good old Dotty P's good for work wear and mothercare ok for combats etc.

Glad to hear it's not just me feeling fatter already either - and I'vev gone off chocoloate so can't even blame that!

FurryFox · 16/04/2007 15:44

mrsdarcy - Glad you've got such great midwives and must be nice to have the same one again as she was so lovely to you last time

bambino - Welcome and congratulations I am too worried about getting through the first three months as are others on here so you're not alone. I don't even remember when I had my first midwife appointment when I was expecting dd or what she did

I'm hopefully going to the doctors next Monday just to get the ball rolling

FurryFox · 16/04/2007 15:47

Beanster - I know exactly what you mean about being awake at night then exhausted during the day. I'm usually quite a good sleeper and don't normally wake up but since I found out I'm pg I'm waking up up to 8 times a night, I can get back to sleep ok but just can't stop waking up - soooooo annoying.

skidaddle · 16/04/2007 15:51

Beanster, me too for waking up in the night - about 5am every morning and can't get back to sleep.

Am also getting fatter already

Bambino - think the first mw appt is an hour-long one when she takes your medical history and gives you all the books - probs won;t take as long second time round

bambino1 · 16/04/2007 16:06

I can't sleep at night and i'm going to the toilet at least 3 times.
Skidaddle your due 10th and already getting a bump?

skidaddle · 16/04/2007 16:15

No bump bambino, just getting fat!! It happened last time as well - my body getting all ready for breastfeeding maybe? Although why it needs to start this early I don't know

BornToBeAPrincess · 16/04/2007 16:23

Hi ,
I posted on the last thread but changed internet suppliers so was offline for a few weeks. Congratulations to everyone.
I have to keep reminding myself that I'm pregnant as I've had no symptoms at all.

Is anyone else still breastfeeding? I'm not sure if I'm doing the right thing carrying on.

skidaddle · 16/04/2007 16:29

Hi borntobe..

No I'm not bfeeding anymore but there are a few people with quite young babies on here so maybe someone else is. Don't really know about breasfeeding during pregnancy - think they used to say you should stop but now say it's OK to carry on? Not sure - hopefully someone else will know..

bambino1 · 16/04/2007 16:31

Never mind skiddadle. Its all for a good cause. I put on 4 stone with dd so i'm really going to try to not do the same. this time round. Eating really healthy and drinking tons and tons of water. Prob reason getting up loads in night!!

dundeemarmalade · 16/04/2007 16:31

i'm due on 14th dec. have added self to list - nice to have a place to go to where i can talk/read about being pg!
feeling soooo tired, and just generally a bit crappy but followed my mum's advice to eat some dry toast or a couple of water biscuits before getting verticle in the mornings, and that has prevented the worst ms so far - which means I'm worrying about not getting it badly enough. still getting AF-type cramps so serial knicker checker just about describes me at the moment.
About bras: am normally 32FF, and laws of physics mean underwires are essential. beastly lady in john lewis' yesterday had me in floods of tears as she produced hideosity after hideosity - these were not bras, but instruments of torture. surely i'm not going to have to spend the nextt ?? months of being pg then bf in hideous, ill-fitting, uncomfortable bras? advice appreciated!
As for unsympathetic drs, went to my gp last week, and locum gp was standing in. i think she was polish - her advice was:

  1. "avoid people with rash"
  2. do not take any medication, even for illness
  3. do not eat shellfish, not even from trusted fish-monger
  4. do not eat cheese with mould.
Hmmm. have visions of self having to check all people with whom i interact for rashes. could be embarassing. i know what she meant, but still... is anybody else finding it really hard to concentrate on anything? dundeemarmalade

bambino1 · 16/04/2007 16:43

Dundeemarmalade i can't concentrate on anything, I sit at work looking into space. I have been on MN all day although I have started about six house hold jobs just not finished them!! hehe! DH will be home soon and house is a tip! oh well just blame it on being pregnant and finding new friends on MN!!

Lucy1977 · 16/04/2007 16:45

Beanstermum - where abouts are you? I'm just by Hamilton and in our area you only get the one scan at 13wks. With DD (14months) we had a 23wk scan privately in Edinburgh.

Welcome to the new joiners, it's going to be one mightily busy December eh!

Furry - like you I have long cycles. With DD they didn't ask cycle length and gave me a EDD that was just over a wk earlier than when I had my 13wk scan. At 13wk scan they then changed my EDD (glad i was anticipating it or otherwise I'd have been really gutted!)

Skidaddle - [waves] another one getting fat too! I didn't show until 5months with DD but this time I've got a pot belly already!

Lucy

skidaddle · 16/04/2007 17:40

Hi dundee,

I am wearing sports bras at the mo as I find them so much more comfy than maternity bras - but I have very small boobs even when I'm pg so might not work for you...

Bambino - yes you're right - it's for a very good cause. I am also eating well, drinking water etc so feel slightly aggrieved at putting on weight already. Mind you I suppose I was a bit scrawny before

Didn't know you weren't supposed to eat prawns - had a load at the weekend but well-cooked - another thing to worry about, sigh

Hi Lucy, glad I am in company

dundeemarmalade · 16/04/2007 18:19

hi skidaddle. sports bras are okay for sport, when the constriction is bearable, but not so great for real life. i'm glad you've found something comfy tho.
as for prawns, i'm probably going to get completely lambasted for this but //hushed tones// you can take the caution thing too far...

mrsdarcy · 16/04/2007 18:59

Those with long/irregular cycles - I'm sure that at my booking appointments I've been asked about cycle length. I'm really irregular which is why I haven't posted a due date as I don't really have an idea, save that it's sometime in December!

When I arranged my booking-in appointment I was told to allow about 45 minutes for it even though it's not my 1st child. They have to ask if your husband beats you don't they?!

mad4girls · 16/04/2007 21:23

evening ladies congrats to all new comers

feeling v.tired and a bit sorry for myself today.

i also cant seem to concentrate keep staring into space then realise 45 mins gone, had more ms over weekend but none tosay feels horrible but great at the same time, to know i really am pregnant feel like going and buying more tests from chemist but dp already moaning saying everywhere he looks he finds pregnancy tests, justwant to keep seeing the result come up "pregnant" trouble is those ones fade.

hope everyone well at docs on thursday will probably be very disapointing but she normally nice and been seeing her since i came off depo, so hopefully be ok, take care all
