We're pretty early but thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is here already.

I'm 4+1, apparently due around 2 May. Would be great to have some company :). Already obsessing over every little thing. The next 8 weeks are going to drag!

Thanks all. No more bleeding but still having on and off cramps. I'm swinging from thinking everything will be fine to fearing the worst. Wish I could time travel to Monday so I don't have to wait through the next four days. Urgh.

sorry to hear about the spotting katiegd I had light red bleeding with my first and it was all ok. I know it's very common due to the increased blood supply. Plus everything has to stretch so cramping is expected.
fingers crossed everything will be ok.

I'm feeling so very tired, and a bit queasy too plus pretty bloated already. I also feel like I've done a load of situps. Plus it's all about the nap atm! This is gonna be a lot harder with a toddler to look after.

I'm a nurse and I've got 3 12 hour shifts this weekend and I'm dreading it. I've just been and bought loads of sugar cos my normal coffee is obviously off the menu.

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 31/08/2017 16:47

scaredofthecity wow that sounds tough! I'm feeling tired and nauseous and have my snotty grumpy toddler to look after today. Might have to start sleeping during his nap time!

AlexsMum89 · 31/08/2017 16:54

Hi can I join please?

oh wow sexlube that'll be so ace if you can share your pregnancy. It can be bloody lonely sometimes!

tiramisu embrace the nap! I wish mine still napped, I've been relying on CBeebies/ iPad for a 40 min doze Blush

Hummingbird15 · 31/08/2017 18:21

Aaagh this afternoon at work I just started to feel really angry about everything! Damn hormones!
I've not registered with anyone yet either - will self register with the hospital at 6 weeks if everything is looking good still then. Those of you seeing the go, remember to ask them to complete the paperwork for a maternity exemption card for you - stops you having to pay for prescriptions or dentistry during your pregnancy and a year after birth.

RedBlackberries · 31/08/2017 18:48

The tiredness! scared I remember doing those 12 hour stints when pregnant (msw) they were so tough especially trying to sleep on hard chairs at night. Good luck! I'm hormonal and tired and keep having really low pains behind my pubic bone like a period. It's funny how the pains don't scare me like they did first time around.

Fillybee · 31/08/2017 19:11

@scaredofthecity are you giving up caffeine completely then? Is anyone else? I'm trying to limit myself to one and a half cups of tea per day but it is hard especially when at work!!

Good luck everyone doing long and night shifts, I wouldn't fancy that right now!

Thunderwing · 31/08/2017 19:16

My dd is back at school (Scotland) and has of course immediately been struck down with a cold, which the little dear has kindly shared with me. I have felt tired and heavy all day, not helped by hideous nausea in the afternoons.

I have no idea how much is pregnancy related or is down to this cold! My amazing mil has taken my dd tonight for a sleepover tonight (and she doesn't even know about the bfp!) so I am currently just lying on the couch being looked after by DH!

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 31/08/2017 19:39

I don't have much caffeine anyway fillybee but I did try to minimise it last time round and will do again. I drink a bit too much diet coke, so will cut that back and only have the odd coffee. I'm off for a girlie weekend in Italy with my sister soon and I won't be able to resist being able to have decent coffee

Flumplet · 31/08/2017 20:00

Hi all, I got my faint second line yesterday and a BFP today! I'm not completely sure what my due date is as different apps are telling me different things. The first day of my last period was 25 July but I didn't ovulate until around 17th august ish ( i have quite long cycles - 32/33 days usually). Anyway, this will be our second child - ds has just turned 6 and is desperate for a sibling. We were ttc 6 months. My only concerns with this pregnancy are that a) i had HG with my first pregnancy and b) I'm very obese so I'm worried about the extra risk. Is anyone else here very overweight?

RedPanda25 · 31/08/2017 20:32

Welcome @AlexsMum89 and @Flumplet! I love that this is filling up nicely

Hope you're doing ok @katiegd, really hope the weekend can go fast for you. The fact that the spotting has stopped is a good sign and I'm thinking of you.

Gosh this tiredness has really hit me already. I'm sure this is earlier than with my DS, I just feel completely shattered and have no chance of a cheeky nap during the day with a toddler who refuses to nap unless in the car or at nursery!

Does anyone ever wonder if they're having twins?

RedPanda25 · 31/08/2017 20:33

I'm not going to give up caffeine completely but going to stick to the two cups a day rule (think that's it?)

Also wondered if the guidance has since changed on runny eggs - I heard mention that if they are lion stamped they are ok?

katiegd · 31/08/2017 20:38

Thanks all for your thoughts. Still no more spotting and boobs back to being sore so am feeling much more reassured. Monday still can't come quickly enough though!

scared and Red I'm a midwife and I've just got in from my 3rd 12 hour shift in a row 😴 it's been so busy as well, and I've not felt the pulling crampy feeling the last 2 days which is worrying me - hope it's just because I've been so busy I've not noticed.
I've cut down my caffeine intake to 1 can of coke a day - I was drinking whole big bottles before! I'm drinking lots of water too.
It's funny, the job I do but now I'm on the other side I have no idea what I'm doing Grin

Chipsahoy · 31/08/2017 21:12

I'm just drinking my third cup of tea today, with a chocolate bar Blush
No plans to cut down from two to three cups a day. I don't usually eat chocolate and I never drink carbonated drinks.

Welcome and congrats to @flumplet and @AlexsMum89

Flumplet · 31/08/2017 21:38

I gave up caffeine whilst ttc and my god I thought I was going to die!!! If you drink a lot of tea or Coke or coffee I recommend you cut down slowly rather than go cold turkey like I did!! 😖

tiramisualwaystiramisu · 31/08/2017 22:19

redpanda I think that's right. Tbh, my theory with avoiding stuff in pregnancy is there's stuff which is actively bad for the baby (which I avoid) and then stuff which would might make me ill, which would be bad for the baby ( which I'm less worried about).

When I found out I was pregnant with DS, I made carbonara that night! Everything was fine though. I also ate cured meat and rare steak during my pregnancy as well Hmm

RedPanda25 · 31/08/2017 22:23

Gosh you must be shattered @MooChops89! Hope you can have a good nights sleep tonight.

I think because of my miscarriage I'm just now very overly careful of food etc which is stupid because I know it's nothing I did which caused it. Just me being a stresshead! I've kinda gone of tea again though so expecting to not want to drink much of it for a while - I'll just stick to chocolate Grin

We go on holiday on Sunday for a week so really hoping that'll make time fly a little bit.

katiegd · 01/09/2017 06:53

Wow moochops and scared, being a nurse/midwife must be so hard at this time. On the flip side I'm struggling with my work being so quiet at the moment as it gives me too much time to worry. Something in the middle would be nice!

I am allowing myself one cup of normal tea per day (rooibos rest of the time) and trying to avoid coke/coffee completely, which then leaves me space for an emergency cuppa should I need it Grin. It's been hard though and think I've been getting caffeine withdrawal headaches as I used to have about 8 cups a day at work.

Lindyj0 · 01/09/2017 08:34

Hats off to people doing 12 hour shifts especially while pregnant. Why are the shifts that long I wonder? It doesn't seem humane. I'm struggling with 7 hour shifts at the moment 😆😴

Fillybee · 01/09/2017 09:14

@RedPanda25 yeh I'm being extra cautious cos of my miscarriages too... Mainly about the caffeine cos I read somewhere (after my miscarriages) that having more than the reccomended caffeine can have quite an effect. I am a bit sceptical as surely if the effect was that drastic then it would be more widely advised against... but anyway this time I'm sticking to it. The advice is to stay under the 200mg of caffeine which is fine but then most places say 20mg in a cup of tea but NHS website says 75mg per tea which is obviously quite different! I limit myself to 2 cups a day just incase it is 75mg xx

Fillybee · 01/09/2017 09:17

@Lindyj0 12 hour shifts mean you can do full time hours in 3 days rather than 5! So I can see the pros but think I'd struggle at the best of times, let alone when pregnant haha!

Brianpercival · 01/09/2017 09:18

Hi everyone and congratulations.

Hope it's ok for me to join, I got my first bfp on Monday and have done about 4 since then including a digi that put me at 2-3 weeks. I have no idea exactly how far I am as my cycles are normally a bit longer than average. The NHS calculater puts my due date at around 8th may.

This is our first and our first cycle of ttc. Totally unexpected as we always thought we were going to struggle so can't quite believe it.

My symptoms were sore boobs but get that anyway in lead up to AF. I got the sharp stabbing pain ive heard people talk about. And now I have pretty much permenant period style cramps in my uterus. Swing between been reassured when they're still there and terrified it means there's something wrong.

Think I'll drive myself mad the next 9 weeks or so
