We're pretty early but thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone else is here already.

I'm 4+1, apparently due around 2 May. Would be great to have some company :). Already obsessing over every little thing. The next 8 weeks are going to drag!

Hi all I hope everyone is getting on ok today. I just got back from docs appt to get the 5mg folic acid and I mentioned that I am anxious about the pregnancy because of my weight and the doctor has kinda knocked the wind out of my sails a bit by saying "Good. As you should be." I guess I was naive hoping for some reassurance from a GP 😑

Whatamuddleduck · 06/09/2017 19:08

Phew, I'm glad it's not only me waiting for the nausea to kick in!

Flumplet im sorry the GP lacked social skills! This is all worrying enough, practical advice welcome, anxiety raising less do! Hopefully the midwives will be a better support to you.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 06/09/2017 19:14

That is a hopeless response flumplet! What would be helpful would be evidence-based advice, not adding to worry 🙄

Flumplet · 06/09/2017 19:14

Well I'm doing all I can - eating sensibly and getting exercise so there's not a whole lot else I can do to please them. I need to grow a thicker skin about these things.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 06/09/2017 19:18

Expecting useful advice from your doctor isn't being thin-skinned though

I am sure you are doing all the right things

MooChops89 · 06/09/2017 19:19

It's not advised to lose weight when pregnant, only maintain. Your GP sounds like a bit of an arse! I used to see a stuffy old man who would attribute absolutely everything to my weight Hmm thankfully I've moved to a new surgery!

Flumplet · 06/09/2017 19:40

I'm planning to maintain. Last time I had hyperemesis and lost a load. I'm hoping I don't get that again because it was awful!

MammaBear18 · 06/09/2017 20:38

Sorry to hear about your app @Flumplet - so many doctors just don't have a very good 'bedside' manner!

Can I ask (if you don't mind) what's your BMI that you have to take higher dose? Maybe I should be taking it too (I'm 33.4)

MooChops89 · 06/09/2017 21:38

It's usually BMI over 35 MammaBear. Mines hovering around 37 Blush was hoping to be under 35 by the time I got pregnant but unfortunately I'm lazy and I love food haha. Have been eating well since the day I found out though

MammaBear18 · 06/09/2017 22:11

Thank you! I've been trying to lose weight too when we were ttcing and was getting into really good habits but then obviously got back on bread and chips and general stodge since we found out ooops!

I'm sure you'll be fine despite GP being a twatwaffle, you seem already in control of your diet Smile

Flumplet · 07/09/2017 14:42

My BMI is high 40s Blush

MooChops89 · 07/09/2017 15:44

But you're doing the right things @Flumplet so that's good! I've put in a prescription request for the folic acid today, hopefully have it from Monday. I was still taking tests every other day til this morning Blush good strong line so have decided to stop testing and just trust my body! I suggested a private early scan to my husband last night, he wasn't keen and thinks we should just wait til dating scan, spoilsport 😂

HerSymphonyAndSong · 07/09/2017 16:46

Hope everyone is ok today

I'm getting tingly "shock waves" in my breasts today - is that what they say is similar to let-down?

sophherts · 07/09/2017 17:02

Hi all!

Got my BFP today, I'm 4 wks tomorrow. Due 18th May 2018 if the NHS calculator is anything to go by.

Not really feeling any symptoms apart from a bit of pulling in my lower belly and an unnerving ability to smell the dog from wherever she is in the room...

How's everyone else getting along? x

RedPanda25 · 07/09/2017 17:34

Hi everyone, trying to keep catching up with you all but haven't got great internet on holiday. How is everyone holding up? I'm getting so bloated and swear people will start guessing at home soon. Not sure how early I'll actually start to show with my second.

Has anyone booked an early scan yet or thinking of doing so? I read another thread on mn the other day with people recommending to wait till 8 weeks at least so I may do that. Hard to know what to do!

JuniUmiZoomi · 07/09/2017 18:21

Evening. The admin went a bit mad when I phoned midwives yesterday and booked me in with the EPU tomorrow! I'll only be 7 weeks so guessing it may be inconclusive. I will keep you posted.

I was hugely bloated last week redpanda. I looked like I did at 5 months last time, but it seems to have gone down now, thank goodness!

Freshlysteamedfanjo · 07/09/2017 18:22

Reporting for duty... just got a BFP this evening!
I'm about 4 weeks, AF was due today.
Still in shock, we had planning to start next month or so anyway, except we've got a house move and holiday within the next 2 weeks!
Already have a DS who is 2.5.
I'm also worried about my BMI, I have been trying and failing to lose weight these last few months so my BMI is currently 35.

MammaBear18 · 07/09/2017 18:37

Welcome @sophherts and @Freshlysteamedfanjo Smile

I had the weirdest thing happen at night. At about 3am I suddenly woke up with a really intense burning/cramping sensation below my belly button - I guess that's bladder? I hope so anyway. The pain was awful! I looked at my Fitbit and heart rate jumped up to 145bpm at that point! I went for a wee, but not much came out. Today I'm having lower back pain. Anyone any ideas? I'm so scared 😞

JuniUmiZoomi · 07/09/2017 18:44

MammaBear are you drinking enough? A big drink usually helps with the cramps. I'm finding I'm hugely thirsty at the moment and definitely more crampy if I've dried up a bit in the night.

MotherofBoy · 07/09/2017 19:00

flumplet have you tried slimming world? Know it's not for everyone but it is safe in pregnancy and while breastfeeding - you get to eat loads extra cheese if pregnant Grin I do it, am sort of maintaining now (few pounds to lose as I fell off wagon) but did it when breastfeeding DS as put on loads of weight after birth. May be worth a shot? Lots of gps refer to slimming world so you might even get to go for free!

So 4 weeks today... loads of cm I am gushing gross! Have to keep checking there's no blood! Lots of crampy/pulling sensation too and boobs still tender behind nipples.

Community midwife rang me back today I can book without being registered with gp! But she told me to ring back in couple of weeks so all good.

HerSymphonyAndSong · 07/09/2017 19:25

Can't do Pilates as she's not insured for pregnant women :(

She can refer me to someone else, which I will do, but I'm gutted because I really like her

Dorotha · 07/09/2017 19:54

I lost lots of weight breastfeeding. Even went back to my wedding weight! Smile

Dorotha · 07/09/2017 19:54

Sorry about the Pilates, @HerSymphonyAndSong
