Hello to all the new joiners .

Forumusername I don't know about the fizz feeling but I would also describe it as a little thud. With DS the first movement certainly felt like a thud anyway.

I'm so tired today and DH is away for the weekend. Would anyone like a bored 2 year old?? I will happily loan him out for free.

I'm not very bad compared to others but how some of you are getting by with minding other dc I don't know

My level of patience with my team in work is so low! It's a constant struggle not to snap at their little and big mistakes.

All this talk of feeling movement reminds me - has anyone else got an anterior placenta? Can we console each other as everyone else starts feeling kicks and we're stuck waiting to 22+ weeks?!

Has anyone else had palpitations all the way through so far? I used to get them before pregnant on the run upto my period, I've had an ecg and a 24 hr ecg and been told everything is fine. Now im preg I've got them everyday lol, I thought its prob iron levels but they say the levels are great, I have been taking extra iron though as I was severely aneamic with DS, I mention them at every appointment and rang the doctor who told me to go to a&e!! But im not fainting or dizzy I just ignore them, anybody else have them as they are freaking me out now! Which I now only makes them worse but not being listened to is really making me feel like I've just been left to it if you get me xx

Sorry I had the ecg about 2 yrs ago. And 24hr heart monitor around 8 months ago? Not been offered any of these since pregnant x

Peachgreen* I've had an anterior placenta with both pregnancies and I felt movement way before 22 weeks with both. With DS I think it was around 18 weeks and this time just before 16.

@Emzwell Yes, I have! I got them before I was pregnant too but definitely worse since. One night it went on for 15 minutes or so and I was getting a bit freaked out as they usually don't last more than 30 seconds.

@Waitingonasmile That's interesting! My midwife said it would be most likely around 26 weeks! But maybe she was overestimating so that I wouldn't worry...

Peachgreen I googled it a lot with DS and 20/22 weeks seemed to be the very latest people felt movement. I found until about 28 weeks the movement is more sporadic than people with posterior, but I didn't have any problems feeling movement. My only worry with anterior is because I've had a previous c section.

Hello! Can I join you here? I'm 15+2, due 17th January with second child (fourth pregnancy). Feeling very anxious at the moment as I've been told I'm high risk for Downs, had private NIFTY test done yesterday and waiting for results which could take up to 14 days. Is anyone else in the same boat? Would appreciate some support (I did post in antenatal tests but no responses yet).

@Emzwell, I'm also having palpitations. I get them when not pregnant too and previous ECGs have not shown up any problems, but I'll mention them to my midwife when I see her next. Do you drink enough water? I was told before (when not pregnant) that dehydration could be causing my palpitations, due to too much caffeine and not enough water. I obviously don't drink too much caffeine now, but I am quite bad at drinking enough water.

@Peachgreen, I also have an anterior placenta, found out at scan at the same time as NIFTY test yesterday. I'm a bit anxious that this will mean I can't have an ELCS as I'd hoped. I had a drawn out failure to progress back-to-back labour with my DD which ended up with an EMCS due to baby being in distress and I was really hoping to have an ELCS this time as I really, really don't want to go through that experience twice. I don't get to see the consultant until October. Does anyone have any experience of ELCS with anterior placenta? I realise it could move by then.

Yes you can definitely still have a c section with an anterior placenta. I had emcs with DS and was offered the choice of an elective this time round. Anterior placentas in both cases.

@waiting Thank you for that, that's really useful. Is there a risk with anterior and previous c-sections? I haven't had a c-section but I've had a laparotomy so not sure if that could cause a problem?

@Adorable I hope you get your ELCS - back-to-back followed by an EMCS sounds just horrible.

Peachgreen There's a small chance of placenta growing into the previous scar, but should be totally fine.

I meant with c section btw I have no idea with what you've had. Just incase I worried you unnecessarilythere.

@Waitingonasmile Thank you and no worries! I did some research and I'm okay, it is purely c-sections (but yes as you say the risk is tiny).

De-lurking to join (16+6 with #2, EDD 7th Jan and expecting a boy).
After a previous MMC and then a high risk result for Downs syndrome I haven't felt safe to join until now.
Just wanted to respond to @Adorablemisfit about the high risk screening. I came back as high risk as well, mainly because of my age (38). My NT was only 1.2 but papp-a was 0.6 and HCG was 2.34. I got the NIFTY test done privately (Babybond) and it took 10 days (7 working days) to get the results back but I have heard of other people getting them much quicker. The wait was worse than a 2WW with IVF but such a relief when it came through as 1:10000 and I hope you get the same result. Also, anterior placenta is only a problem if it is placenta praevia (low-lying, covering the os). Most placentas move upwards (and out of the way of where they would make the incision) as the lower segment develops later in the pregnancy. (Obstetric anaesthetist). My placenta was anterior last time and I felt movements at about 20 weeks. I don't know where it is this time and I have just started feeling little kicks.

Hello ladies, just thought I'd let you know I'm ok.
After a 7 hour labour I delivered the baby last night, the staff were amazing and I felt totally looked after.
Although I'm very sad still and know it will take weeks to fully adjust, I'm doing ok.
Ruth, I was sad to think we no longer had hope of being hospital ward neighbours.... :(
Hopefully we'll have so good news to share with you in the future!

@ladybunnikins Thank you so much for your reassuring post & for sharing your experience. We're the same age and I'm wondering if that could be skewing the results? I'm really hoping the results come through quicker than 14 days because I'm off on holiday in 8 days and don't want to be worrying about it while I'm away!

@weasledee I'm new on this thread but just wanted to say I'm so very sorry for your loss.

@Adorablemisfit yes, our age alone gives us a risk of 1:150 and apparently 20% of people our age will get a false positive result on the NHS screening test, compared to 5% overall. I think the baby is measuring 5 days older than my prediction based on conception which might skew the results. I found a complicated calculation thing online where I worked out my risk using my own predicted dates and then it was 1:700! Hopefully you get them by then, I got the results halfway through my cruise holiday! Apparently they phone if it is bad news and email if it is good news so I was shaking every time I got a call from an unknown number.
