I'm getting a £55 wellbeing scan + sex next week as my 12 week scan was a horrible experience. I really grumpy sonographer and due to angle of screen I only saw baby for 15 seconds and photos were awful. I am really ill with hyperemesis so I hope this scan will make me feel more positive, plus it gives me something to look forward to.

I'm planning to take a year and then go back part time.

@thingymaboob my friend had a similar experience to you at her scan so paid for another - she was really happy with the private one and it made her feel much better! Sorry you had a rubbish experience but am sure the next scan will make up for it

Hello all, and thanks for the thread @millsbynight! Welcome decaff --I'm not natively Irish but live in NI :)

We're not getting a gender scan, partly as there is no way I could call my baby by its name (which we have already chosen for both) and not somehow let it slip to everyone else by accident! My friend is an OB/Gyn in the US and she says they write on the whiteboard of the delivery rooms what is expected, i.e. "boy X" or "girl X" or "gender unknown". One time she walked in and the board said "surprise sex" lol! Surprise sex it is, then!

In other news, I can offer a ray of hope to those like me who have been suffering constipation since what feels like the dawn of time. It's finally gone (I think)! Had it from week 5 to week 17 so it's about flipping time!

I have my next midwife appointment on 10 August and next scan at start of sept seems so far away!

Ahhhhh. Feeling lots of movement tonight for the first time. I wasn't expecting it so soon as I have an anterior placenta again.

What does the movements feel like? I'm getting excited waiting 🙈🙈

To me it feels like tiny gentle little taps or nudges. Almost like a little muscle spasm!

I am getting rather paranoid of the 'belly stare'! 😂 every person I've told I am pregnant immediately, almost as though they don't realise they're doing it, instinctively state at my belly!

@Disinterested I feel your pain 😂 i had to tell my work immediately as I was in an inappropriate class and needed to be moved, so of course it went round the school like wildfire! The people that didn't know me well enough to congratulate me would just stare at my stomach - made me very uncomfortable lol!

Is anyone else already sick of the overbearing opinions? I'm going to start getting very sarky soon I think...

I'd like 9 months off. With my first she would not drink milk from a bottle so I needed her to be at a point where she could go 9 hours without feeding and that didn't happen until then.

@klaw it's so annoying isn't it?! I just want to be obviously pregnant now - not a little bit chubby, so people will know rather than speculate haha.

Yes yes to the overbearing opinions. I'm leaving work when I'm 15 weeks pregnant and won't be going back (SAHM) when baby is here. The amount of "Oh you're leaving very early.. why?!" And "but you'll be so bored!!" "You'll miss working" Is crazy. Not that its any of their business but we can afford it and I can assure you that I won't be bored and MOST CERTAINLY will not miss work! 😂

Yes @Disinterested !! People ask me if I get bored in the summer holidays, I definitely don't it's bloody lovely ha! I would think it's probably jealousy 🙄
The main one I keep getting at the mo is people asking if I will find out the sex, when I then say yes they proceed to tell me not to and the reasons why. Pretty sure at 29 years old I'm able to make an informed decision for myself, if I was unsure I would blooming ask!

Hello lovely ladies, may I jump aboard please? I'm 14 weeks exactly today, due date 21 January. I've been too scared to join until now as I had a MMC last year and haven't felt relaxed enough to embrace this pregnancy until after the private scan we had today. Officially in the second trimester and all looking perfect! Such a relief! I'm hoping to actually start enjoying it now and maybe even planning a little bit - I've done NOTHING so far!

Sorry to hear about your previous MMC .

This pregnancy didn't really feel real to me until I had the dating scan.

I'm also considering a private scan in a few weeks. Just for a bit of early reassurance before the 20 wee nhs scan and maybe to find out the sex, if we can. We didn't find out last time, but I'd really like to this time.

Disinterested, that looks like the start of a bump to me! Won't be long till we can't tie our shoes by ourselves .

Sickness is still terrible for me, had a good couple of days end of last week then BAM sickness returned Saturday night!! Looks like back the doctors for another sick note, it's 9am and I've already been sick 3 times!!😢

I go on holiday Sunday so really praying it does a disappearing act as I can't think of nothing worse than being sick in the heat!!

@Gemxo my sickness returned at 14 weeks. I'm off to GP today for a sick note too. How long have you been off?

This will be my 3rd week signed off now, I originally took 2 weeks off sick then returned to work for a whole week then the sickness was back! & it's been back now for 3 weeks 😢

Work are very understanding though, one of the HR ladies is also pregnant which helps!

@thingmaboob & @Gemxo I'm meant to be back at work later this week after 4 weeks off but think I'm going to have to go to doctors and see what they think. Sickness, dizziness and tiredness! It takes everything to get out of bed in the morning! I go on holiday in September so need to be back before then as don't know how it works if I'm off sick and meant to be abroad 😩
