Have had the migraine from hell this weekend and it's slowly easing today - is there anything we can take other than paracetamol?! As it does literally nothing for me :( touch wood I don't get migraines often but I can't go through that again, it was torture!

I had neck and shoulder pain last week. I saw a nurse who said codeine is ok in pregnancy and that, if I was desperate, I could have co-codamol. But only when I really needed it. Migraines are no joke though. I think I've had about two or three in my life and it was awful. Maybe ask a doctor or mw about having codeine or similar.

I usually have ibuprofen and codeine for migraines so cocodamol could work - I have midwife app in a week and a half - can't imagine I'll have another before then (I really hope not!) - so I'll ask them then. That does give me hope though - woke up in the middle of the night crying as I was in so much pin! Makes me wonder how I'll deal with childbirth

@klaw87 it's a different kind of pain. It's not constant like a migraine is, it eases off. Plus the drugs they offer you really help lol.

@ForumUsername 😂😂 that is very true! I am bloody scared though and would really like it if my friends would stop re-telling their birth stories 🙄 I'm not sure why they think it's helpful!

@MrsCorr true! Definitely not ruling out drugs on my birth plan, I have a feeling I will want anything and everything 😂

In my birth plan with my son I had "I want all drugs available up to & including an epidural!" Was surprised how well gas & air worked for me but I ended up having an emergency c section so had the epidural too. It can't be that bad or everyone would only have one child 😂

Congratulations @Gemxo :) Those cakes are so beautiful and OTT and now I just want cake!

@Forumusername mine seem to have growth spurts too, although I'm not very big anyway. Apparently there's one around 19 or 20 weeks for a lot of women when the milk ducts start forming or something? And then another one later on when milk starts to come in etc.

I worked the weekend, then tomorrow we're moving in with the in-laws for a few weeks, while work is done on our house, then back to work for the rest of the week. Tired already! It's going to be a very busy time for the next few months getting it all sorted but at least it'll be done well in time for baby!

@klaw I know, they're not helping! I've got that mantra "I am calm, I am confident, I was made to birth my baby" which I can repeat to myself any time I'm stressed. Also if it helps, my mother had 4 kids and always rolled her eyes when people were dramatic about birth (including TV births, which apparently bear no resemblance to real life!). She didn't have the easiest time ever I'm sure (and every birth was different), but she always described it very blandly to us even as children so I've never been conditioned to be scared of childbirth as some people are. As Mrs Corr says, you wouldn't be happy to do it again if it was that terrible!

You all make very good points! I'm going to try and be pretty relaxed about all the birth plans and stuff, the friends who have the worst stories seem to be the ones that really planned exactly what they wanted and then were a bit panicked when it didn't quite go to plan. There's so many things that can happen so will just see how it goes! Just had a mild panic yesterday that if I couldn't handle a migraine then I was buggered - but you're right it will be totally different!

Hubby felt baby move for the first time this evening and the look on his face was priceless 😊 That's cheered me right up!

Wow, i'm just going to stay on here from now on as most women on the other talk threads are so mean :/ i posted for advice about an argument I'd had with my mum and i'm obviously too stupid to use the words 'gender reveal' when I wanted to take my lad out for tea with the mums to reveal it... jesus wept! Somebody also posted a link to this thread about people being doing it on here, so petty to judge others or god forbid be happy about the sex. I'm not going to ask for advice on anything haha :) Anyway hope everyone on our thread is well, i'm never coming off it

P.S is there a fb page for the Jan babies?
