Waitingonasmile I'm veering towards girl! But I think it's because I've been feeling worse this time around! I am also very hormonal lol. We shall find out tomorrow! Are you finding out the gender?

Any mums here based in NI?

peachgreen · 10/08/2017 16:25

@laurelloves85 Me! I'm in Belfast at the mo but moving to Bangor at the end of September. (SO excited.) Originally from England but DH is NI born and bred.

Is the due date list the most recent one? I seem to have disappeared! :) I think it was updated towards the end of the last thread?

I'm determined not to buy anything until after my anomoly scan but that's not until 22 weeks and I'm ITCHING to do some exploratory Mothercare visiting!

laurelloves85 · 10/08/2017 16:37

@peachgreen oh very good I live in Dundonald! My DH is from England but has lived here since 2006. Is this your first baby?

ElleMcElle · 10/08/2017 16:51

@millsbynight - Yep, I was very aware of my pregnancy in the first trimester, but hardly notice it now until I become a bit breathless or attempt to do up a pair of trousers! Keen to start feeling movement - nothing definite yet...

Waitingonasmile · 10/08/2017 17:07

We are having another boy laurelloves.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 10/08/2017 17:08

peach

I'm originally from the place you're about to move to! It's so lovely there and loads for children. I'm a little bit jealous tbh Wink.

I'm now in the Home Counties and it looks like I'm here to stay. It is nice here, I just get homesick. We do visit home a lot too though.

SpringChicken26 · 10/08/2017 18:57

Just wondering if anyone knows the answer both myself and my partner work crazy shifts atm no childminder would take at the start/finish times we need and would be crazy expensive and too long a day for baby i.e. Nanny if they would ! So I'm planning on taking 6 months mat leave then going back part time and juggling childcare between us and hopefully family, I don't want to risk telling work before as I'd like my full time pay for mat leave ideally ! If I tell them a month before I'm due to go back would I have to pay back any of my maternity leave as I know you have to pay some back if you leave completely but not sure if you come back part time ?

Rosehyd2 · 10/08/2017 19:23

You don't pay any back for going back part time, but they can decline your request for flexible working if it's not suitable for the role. They have to ensure a position is open for you, but the don't have to accept your request for part time.
Having said that I also wouldn't tell work your thoughts of going back part time until you're on maternity leave.

klc75 · 10/08/2017 19:50

If anyone is interested in the shnuggle baby bath the Grey and white one is on offer at tesco direct for £13.50

peachgreen · 10/08/2017 20:03

@laurelloves85 My DH grew up in Dundonald! Yes first baby. We can't wait!

@Decaffstilltastesweird Oh I'm so pleased you like it - it's hard choosing somewhere to buy a house when you're not that familiar with areas, but we just love the relaxed feel of Bangor and all the wee shops and cafes. I still get homesick for London but I know we wouldn't have anything near the quality of life there that we do here. It's hard being away from "home" though, I feel for you.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 10/08/2017 20:09

Ah yeah, we're a train ride from London, but would love to live there. It's a great city. I can understand why you'd miss it.

Good luck with the move!

Icantthinkofastupidname · 10/08/2017 20:17

I went window shopping with my mother in law today. Someone reason with me as to wether it's best to get the more practical pram I liked, or the pram that is slightly less practical, but I loved? Both mamas and papas. The more practical one being the ocarro (bigger wheels - we live pretty much in a park so will spend quite a lot of time walking round there I would imagine, gravely paths, and bigger storage underneath) and the one I loved the urbo2. Hoping to get it on a bundle deal. They quite often seem to have mamas and papas deals on the bounty lists, but it's the sola at the minute, which is nice but I preferred the other 2.

Decaffstilltastesweird · 10/08/2017 21:00

That's so tricky icant!

I had a really sturdy, unstylish pram with DD, but I've managed to destroy it through a lot of use! I don't really drive anywhere, so we walk a lot. That is in a town.

I've just bought myself a second hand pram, simply because I saw a woman at the park with and loved the way it looked Blush. It's really high up, so your baby is right in your eye line, which is what I really liked.

I think on balance, I'd say go with the one you love. You'll use it most days and you probably will only get to buy a pram once or twice in your life. If you have something you love using it will make a difference imo --on the days when you're exhausted and getting a bit weary of being covered in baby sick and poo. That's my logic anyway Smile.

Icantthinkofastupidname · 10/08/2017 21:26

Thanks @decaff.

On a side note, has anyone been to any of the mamas and papas new parent events? I'm booked into a mothercare one on the 20th, mostly because I heard you get a 10% off voucher. The issue is the mamas and papas one, stupidly is the same date and time, but if you also got some kind of voucher, then I might look at going to that one instead? Mothercare do stock the urbo2, but not in the colour I need would like. It's £999 for the bundle inc chassis, pram, carry cot, car seat and seat base, so if I can get a 10% off I'd be over the moon! Apparently the colour is new season tho, so maybe I just need to be patient for it to be available elsewhere? Places like preciouslittleone do seem have them, but not as a bundle.

Ruthcarr1990 · 10/08/2017 21:40

Well it's going to be a late night for me!! Not kept on top of my house work got my dad and step mum coming up tomorrow need to blitz the house!!! Really can't get motivated tho!!! Xxx

ElleMcElle · 10/08/2017 22:19

@Icantthinkofastupidname - Ooh, I'm also going to the Mothercare event. Do you know if you have to use the 10% off voucher on the day, or is it valid for a while? I don't feel ready to commit to any big purchases yet - still have lots of research to do!

thingymaboob · 10/08/2017 23:04

Was admitted to hospital today after experiencing "fanny daggers". I had a cervical scan and all ok. They think it's the start of SPD. Bloody brilliant. Just getting over hyperemesis! This pregnancy sucks!

Decaffstilltastesweird · 11/08/2017 08:53

Oh sorry to hear that thingy! I'm glad all is well with your baby, but that sucks that spd could be starting. CakeFlowersBrew (decaff of course) for you.

Owl1011 · 11/08/2017 10:37

@thingymaboob oh no, that sounds awful but I hope you're feeling ok today

Just had my 16 week appointment, got to listen to baby's heartbeat which was lovely Smile still not ready to make any purchases yet, holding off until the 20 week scan before I buy anything at al!

Waitingonasmile · 11/08/2017 11:04

Aw thingymaboob that's awful when you've just got over the sickness. SPD is horrible!

ForumUsername · 11/08/2017 12:56

How scary @thingymaboob, glad baby is ok. Is there anything you can do for SPD? I don't know anything about it TBH

So I had decided to hold off buying anything until 20 week scan
But MIL (who had said we should wait till 30weeks before buying ANYTHING) is on for buying clothes next week while she is away
My sister has been buying baby bits (nappies, creams etc) so I shouldn't have an issue but I kinda do
I'd like to be the one to buy clothes first

I'm being petty, aren't I? I get on really well with MIL and she is very excited as it's her first GC and DH is an only child....... but still think I'll buy something at the weekend to pip her to the post

Icantthinkofastupidname · 11/08/2017 13:44

Sorry to hear about your pains @thingy. Hope you're on the mend soon and all is well with baby.

@elle, as far as I am aware you don't have to spend the voucher that day. I'm guessing it will have some kind of expiry tho? Hopefully a decent length one! I don't really want to buy anything until after 20w scan, but I don't see any harm in having a little browse now getting an idea of prices etc!

MegRam · 11/08/2017 16:23

@thingymaboob I have also been diagnosed with SPD. I've had my first appointment with a pregnancy specialist chiropractor today which was an interesting experience so I'll let you know if it helps!

Did you get a referral for physio?

I, quite literally, feel your pain xx

Disinterested · 11/08/2017 17:33

@thingy sorry to hear about your scare. Hope you are resting up.

www.babysecurity.co.uk/venicci-new-travel-system-denim-sky-black.html

I'm looking at getting this... anybody have any experience with the brand?

WLMcI · 11/08/2017 19:06

@laurelloves I am also in NI! Originally American but live in co Antrim near where DH is from.
@thingymabob and@MegRam sorry about the scare but glad you got a diagnosis quickly. I have similar pains ATM and the tailbone pain is still there, wonder if I should ask about SPD? I'm seeing a midwife on Tuesday for bloods so I'll ask her. Fanny Daggers has moved out and her cousin Lady Garden Constant Ache has shown up, along with a rapidly expanding belly these last couple days! 😂
