Not mad @MissyJones80s! I ride my bike almost everyday! In fact I just got a beautiful new one for my birthday last week - people asked if I had gone mad! I would much rather cycle places than get on stinky buses! Also, once the baby arrives, pop a seat on the back and it's a great way to get back to exercise!

Rosehyd2 · 02/08/2017 07:57

That sounds fab @MissyJones80s!

I bought a road bike for the first time a fortnight before I found out I was expecting and I've been too nervous to go on it as it goes some speeds and I was quite wobbly at first in a new riding position. I live in a rural area with no road markings and tight country lanes etc.

Do you think it would be safe for me to give it another go?

ForumUsername · 02/08/2017 11:29

I think ye are really brave!
I've become such a wuss since finding out I'm pregnant!!!
I normally feel super safe when my husband is driving but I now find myself nervous if anyone comes anyway close to the car or if he takes a corner tight etc.

Had to be up earlier than normal this morning and was sooo tired.
Haven't really been drinking coffee as I'd gone off it but after a meeting I got a danish and cappuccino and feel semi normal! Really hope I'm coming into an easier few months either that or I'm high on caffeine!

peachgreen · 02/08/2017 11:44

I'm absolutely shattered after a busy weekend and week, and it's completely brought my morning (all day) sickness back. So annoying! Bit worried about September too as we have 3 long weekend "breaks" (not really breaks as we're seeing friends and family so it will be very busy and a bit stressful) AND we're going to be moving house at some point! Yikes. How do you handle stress / business in your pregnancy? Would love some tips!

Rosehyd2 · 02/08/2017 11:50

@peachgreen I definitely found that less sleep meant my sickness was ten times worse. As much as possible try and stick to routine, work out how many hours sleep you need to prevent the sickness/nausea kicking in. I knew I had to be asleep by 10 to get through the next day with normal nausea (instead of horrendous nausea).

Our June was like your September, every weekend was full and my symptoms were in full swing. All I can say worked for me is try and take it as easy as possible, eat little and often, and sleep sleep sleep.

ForumUsername · 02/08/2017 12:10

@peachgreen I too have found getting rest has helped a good bit
Easier said than done with work though! I've had naps before dinner when I get in from work and in the afternoon at the weekend

I'm only 15+4 and haven't been able to sleep on my tummy for a few weeks because it hurts my lower back 😥
Have 6 months of not sleeping in my comfy position

AmandaP86x · 02/08/2017 12:48

Same @ForumUsername my backs been sore on and off

Maybebaby2 · 02/08/2017 12:52

r.e the name, talked again last nigh and we're back to Ivy Rose as two first names, thrre was a news article about top 20 names in 2017 so far and Ivy came in at number 20, its obviously getting popular so if we stick with Ivy Rose it will keep it a little but different still.

Talking about bikes and being nervous on the road is quite apt because I've just passed my driving test... this morning! Its been a long hard slog and I've had to overcome a phobia of driving and nerves like I've never experienced with anything else in my life! Today was test number 7! Lucky number 7 for me. So relieved because it means life will be so much easier when baby arrives!

peachgreen · 02/08/2017 13:18

Thanks @Rose and @ForumUsername - I'm a bad sleeper at the best of times but I really struggle if I've napped during the day - but early nights might be the answer!

@ForumUsername I had the same problem with lower back pain but started sleeping with a pillow under my bent knee and it went away completely!

Supper16 · 02/08/2017 15:50

@maybebaby2 Congratulations on passing your driving test!! That must be such a weight off your mind. Have some Cake

OH and I are getting our first car in Sept. Neither of us has driven for about 8 years so need to get refresher lessons. Husband will probs pick it up again quickly, he ran a car whilst at Uni, but I was a nervous learner and only drove once or twice after passing my test. Then I moved to London and my parents (quite reasonably) took me off the insurance. So I feel like I'm going to be starting from scratch Sad

Maybebaby2 · 02/08/2017 16:31

Thank you supper it really is a weight off and I feel relief more than anything because it's taken forever to get to this point! I think you might surprise yourself when you start to drive again it might not be as bad as you are thinking. I totally understand the nerves but I found since being pregnant my nerves subsided a bit and I became more focused because it was something I just needed to do. Good luck and I'm sure you will pick it up again quickly and confidently👍

Ruthcarr1990 · 02/08/2017 17:52

Had modwife app today!! Heard baby's strong heart beat!!
Find out on sat if we are team blue or pink. Dragging the past few days!!! Xxx

thingymaboob · 02/08/2017 18:49

Anyone else getting lower abdo pain? I just get these twinges and it's also painful when I sit down. Anyone else? Worried about my cervix! Am having a cervical scan at 19 weeks due to previous LLETZ. They only took a bit 7mm but I'm freaked!

MissyJones80s · 02/08/2017 19:52

ndo4000 thanks for the bike confidence there! I don't ride much but wanted to get a bike last year and never got round to it! Just really fancied it and it was such fun and it felt quite gentle actually...kept it flat!!

Rosehyd2 I can't comment on road bikes mines a bog standard mountain bike and I'm only confident to go on a mega quite and wide country lane near where we live or on disused railway walks etc! But that's mainly because I don't ride much.

peachgreen I was lucky with not much nauseua and no actual sickness but I did find that I always felt much worse and my nausea days were on the days when I hadn't had much sleep and was super tired. Had one of those on Monday so made sure I was in bed early that night.

Maybebaby2 congratulations on passing your driving test, you'll love it. I'm going to have to change cars at some point because I have a smart car, I love it as well so will miss it...no idea what I'll get to replace it super used to teeny cars!

Ruthcarr1990 how lovely to hear the heartbeat - do we all get this at the 16wk appointment?

thingymaboob I'm getting random twinges, pains and stretching feelings. Think it's all the internal moving about that's going on. I had just a sharp pain this morning when I turned over in bed just like pulling a muscle, it went after a short while but going to be super careful turning over from now on!!!

MissyJones80s · 02/08/2017 19:52

Grr typo above quiet not quite

Ruthcarr1990 · 02/08/2017 21:35

@MissyJones80s the midwife said she would try and find it and she did. She said sometimes they can't find it. Filmed it for my dh to hear. Midwife was lovly!! Xxx

MissyJones80s · 02/08/2017 21:44

Ruthcarr1990 how amazing so lovely to share those moments as well. I hope they at least try to find at my appointment next week...

AmandaP86x · 02/08/2017 22:30

@MissyJones80s I have been getting that too! Like certain positions a pure sharp shooting pain 😭🙈

I am working tomorrow so might ask consultant for a wee scan just for a tiny bit of reassurance after the niggles xxx

Maybebaby2 · 02/08/2017 22:34

Thanks Missy car shopping this weekend so excited!
I think they probably will try and hear heart beat at your appointment. Mine said she would try but if she couldn't find it then I could come back the next week and she'd try again.
Ruth it's so lovely to hear isn't it. I recorded mine for dh to hear too. I was asking midwife are you sure that's baby and not me, she said it was too fast to be me! I just wanted to double check 😂

wapphighwood · 03/08/2017 07:42

Hi all, I've been reading every day, I'm loving sharing the journey. Little update from me, 16 weeks and still feeling sick most days. Worst when tired but I have s toddler who is a bad sleeper so I'm tired most days. Wish sickness would go now.

Revised due date of 16th Jan.

Also cycling at least once a week, at quiet times on quiet roads, just for about 35-40 mins. Love the air and exercise. Will stop when feels uncomfortable

Iamchanging · 03/08/2017 07:49

I'm still feeling sick every day as well - so much for glowing. Today has been as bad as when I was 8-9 weeks. I hoped it was getting better - apparently not!

Ruthcarr1990 · 03/08/2017 08:12

I'm off work today ploughed threw so far but today I'm feeling rough. Really bad head ache. I'll prob get a telling off wen I go back into work but I really don't care!! Xxx

Owl1011 · 03/08/2017 10:37

Having some weird cramping feelings today, not sure what it is but feeling a bit nervous the last few days so it's not helping stress levels.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on maternity clothes - when did you start wearing them/plan to start wearing them and where are the best places to shop??

millsbynight · 03/08/2017 10:52

@Owl1011 I've been in maternity leggings since about Week 6! I get them from H&M.

As for other maternity clothes I got loads off Asos. If you want posh/nice stuff try Seraphine :)

I got my maternity bras from Mothercare.

OP posts:
ForumUsername · 03/08/2017 12:02

@Owl1011 I just bought a pair of maternity jeans from ASOS
I bought a size up and shouldn't of as they are a little big but I guess I've room to grow

Have worn them a couple of days this week
Love the stretch factor! Opening my own jeans and using the hair tie had gotten uncomfortable
But they are sliding down a bit when I move lots
