runnyhabbit · 25/03/2007 17:08

Can't believe I missed all this excitement

Congratulations WCL xxxxxxxxxx

I'm filling up too

nuttygirl · 25/03/2007 17:37

Ok have just looked at a website about natural induction methods and found this warning....nearly PMSL

MAJOR ALERT!!
There is a vegetable oil called CASTOR Oil, which is sometimes used to get labor going or for other medicinal purposes. There is a petroleum product, i.e. motor oil, called Castrol Oil, which could be toxic. Please do not confuse them!

runnyhabbit · 25/03/2007 17:43

Is it me, or does this now make everything a bit more real

This 2 stone mound on my stomach, that has given me heartburn, itchiness, thrush etc, is actually a real live person

Slight sense of panic is now setting in....

runnyhabbit · 25/03/2007 17:43

PMSL at castrol oil

AngeG · 25/03/2007 17:46

Nuttygirl - PMSL at confusing castor oil and castrol oil

Runny - Know exactly what you mean. It's all beginning to sink in now. I'm really beginning to worry about the hospital stay after c-section and how Jake will be without me around.

Katy44 · 25/03/2007 17:55

Yes, definitely, I've started to pack my bag and made a list of things that need to be done before the day!

glitterkitty · 25/03/2007 17:56

Congrats WCL, bloody hell, a real baby, and lucky wcl, nice and quick! am starting to get scared now - will actually have to push (hopefully) this thing out in a few weeks... makes scream face

Katy44 · 25/03/2007 17:58

One of the things on my list is I actually need to listen to that hypnobirthing CD - has everyone else been listening to theirs religiously for months??
Pity you can't listen to it in the car

eca · 25/03/2007 18:04

yes, all feeling very real here too!!! Just off to order tens machine to hire. Not done that yet and suddenly thought - why have I not ordered the one thing that might help with pain relief!!!

Hope 1b3 is getting on ok at hospital.

runnyhabbit · 25/03/2007 18:11

Told dh that I'd better get the rest of the baby stuff this week, just in case this one comes early. He thought that we had all the important stuff (ie big and expensive) which we have, but its dawned on me that we don't have any newborn bottle teats (just in case bf doesn't work out), ditto for formula, scratch mitts, infacol OMG the list is endless!

My mum suggested that I might want to sort out a few outfits for ds, in case I end up in hospital so dh doesn't end up dressing him in wellies, shorts and an anorak (which is what I was wearing when my dad took me to visit my mum and new baby sister, in November!)
ROFL when she told me that
But actually, makes a lot of sense (something else to add to my list though )

weeonion · 25/03/2007 18:12

katy44 - i have the cd and yep - i have been listening to it most days. it was part of my commute on teh bus when i was working and now - i do stick it on when i am in the bath. cant say that it was worked - not able to do any of the visualisations and i have been making lists of shopping , brirthday pressies, meal ideas etc when it is on.

have met a pretty amazing woman who was well into hers, 3.5 hrs first birth, no stitches, done it all at home, midwife asked when she was 7cms dilated if she manage the last 3 and within 10 mins - she was there! she is a bit into all that "stuff" thoug - i'm not such a convert but hey - can do no harm to listen to the cd......?

runnyhabbit · 25/03/2007 18:14

Eca - TENS MACHINE! Thank you so much for saying that! Had completley forgot to order one - found it fantastic with ds (apart from when the batteries ran out, and dh couldn't replace them quick enough )

eca · 25/03/2007 18:15

katy - lol at the thought of you listening to cd in car!

Also lol at the fact that WCL posted on here just 2 &1/2 hrs after birth! She is a true MNer bless her heart! And here we all are sat round waiting for updates!! hee hee.

runny - yep, think i'm sorted and then I realise I've missed some glaringly obvious thing to do/get!

eca · 25/03/2007 18:19

runny! Spare batteries! Hadn't even thought of that!! Something I think I can put on dh's list!

wo - v impressive lady you met! Beginning to wish i'd been doing it more regularly! Like you say... can't do any harm!

Katy44 · 25/03/2007 18:21

Yes, thanks from me too eca - I've just added TENS machine to my list - how did I forget that!!
Other things on my list that might be useful reminders (but probably won't):

  • Make email mailing lists
  • Birth notification cards
  • Make up moses basket (as soon as all baby clothes have been removed )
  • Music for labour
  • Make sure know how to use car seat

Katy44 · 25/03/2007 18:21

You need batteries for those things even if you're hiring them?
Tooo much to remember!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

glitterkitty · 25/03/2007 18:24
