So I'm tentatively stepping into this thread having had a successful scan yesterday at around 11 weeks. My dating scan is in two weeks time but due to stomach pains yesterday the EPU scanned me at the baby looked great. Strong heat beat and measuring 10w + 4 and it was doing somersaults 😍

Because I'm horribly old I'm going to be having the Harmony done sbdcthr combined screening so I'm definitely not counting my chickens yet. I am hopeful though Grin

SquintySquirrel · 29/07/2017 13:32

Hi @SleepFreeZone - can I ask what the stomach pains were like? I'm approx 10+2 and have had short bursts of pain and cramps but midwife said without blood and provided the pain isn't constant and it comes and goes then not to worry but i do worry!

Interesting that you were scanned as MW really doesn't seem bothered or interested

SleepFreeZone · 29/07/2017 14:00

Hi squinty. My situation is different as I have had three miscarriages and the pains were so severe I was actually considering going to A&E.

The hospital had a walk in clinic yesterday morning so the doctor wrote me a letter and told me to go straight up. The pain we think is coming from a fibroid and fortunately today I feel much much better.

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 29/07/2017 16:45

Squinty I'm 10+1/10+2 and for the last 24 hours or so I have had extreme cramps and pain, to the point where I've struggled to stand up at times. Around here they also say they're only concerned and will scan if there's blood. I'm hoping this is just stretching pain and the uterus moving up etc. I just wanted you to know you're not alone!

babayagga · 29/07/2017 19:21

Hello all, checked no in after my dating scan today. I am 13+1, as the measurements have confirmed.

They found a heartbeat, but couldn't get the baby moving! It was sleeping on its side Hmm I had to go to the courtyard and jump around for ten minutes (not looking weird at all!), then they rescanned: this time, the baby had turned onto its back, but was still asleep... It woke up eventually to make some jerky whole-body movements and to open its mouth a few times.

The nurses seemed unconcerned, but I don't know whether to consider my scan an outright 'success', since you all described your babies as wiggling and tap-dancing... And naturally, I wonder if this is my punishment for daring to take peppermint tea/linseeds/activated charcoal for indigestion relief... Will the worrying ever end? Shock

emily it must be hard going from 20 to nothing - you've cut down so just keep cutting down, keep doing your best. You will get there. I'm getting married in November when I'll be six months along! I've had to get a maternity wedding dress. No chance I was going to fit in mine.

baba maybe you've just got a chilled little one in there!

Congratulations for the good scans everyone. We're visiting family at the moment and I'm just finding I'm so tired I'm struggling.

lookatthemoon · 29/07/2017 23:22

Baba - my sonographer told me that she often has to send people to a coffee shop next door to eat as much sugar as possible to try and get baby going! So I think it is pretty common! But yes, the worrying never end Wink

toots123 · 30/07/2017 07:12

Just catching up!
So so sorry betty take care of yourself

Lovely to see nice scan pictures. We had an early scan 2 weeks ago and baby was a blob so looking forward to 12 week scan in 2 weeks to hopefully see a baby!
Nausea up and down and tiredness is unreal with having a demanding toddler to look after.

I'm 9+6 and I look huge. Struggling to hide a very bump like shape at work, will tell my manager this week before someone points out I look very pregnant

babayagga · 30/07/2017 08:10

look - thank you, that makes me feel much better! I guess my sonographers should have said something along those lines, it would have helped.

toots - I was so bloated and nauseous at 9 weeks, I couldn't wear anything with a waistline. Just wore the same two summer sack dresses. Now I can wear a skirt with a belt.

Loxy4527 · 30/07/2017 10:01

Still a good picture, baba! Told DH about your experience, he couldn't get his head around the idea that the baby can be asleep and awake.

Ugh, was just interrupted writing this by a bolt to the bathroom. DH has got this down pat now, I go throw up and a couple minutes later a glass of water and some mouth wash is put next to me.

New symptom today! Was looking at the bump in the mirror and noticed that dark line up to my belly button appearing. Anyone else got this yet?

toots123 · 30/07/2017 10:09

Yeah baba the bloating has gone which is a relief but I've been left with a definite bump shape. My work blazer hides it mostly but it's hot in the office so not ideal!
I was on the bigger side with dd so I'm expecting to be big this time too
and I was far from being slim before my bfp

RainyDayBear · 30/07/2017 10:43

My scan is on Wednesday morning, crossing fingers all is well in there! Hoping it will cheer me up a bit, relentless morning sickness is getting me down now, actually going to the GP to see if they'll prescribe anything tomorrow as it's really bad.

I've got a bit of a bump shape already too, looking forward to having a proper bump rather than bloat!

lookatthemoon · 30/07/2017 10:48

Loxy - my OH thought I was getting that dark line until I had to point out that my trousers were just too tight and had left a mark BlushI def have a noticeable bump.

Rainy - so sorry to hear the morning sickness is relentless. Hopefully the gp can do something for you** Flowers

pretzelpieces · 30/07/2017 12:27

toots agree the tiredness is made worse by chasing a toddler! 😴

loxy not yet, but I didn't get that at all last time (I know it's a common symptom though!).

pretzelpieces · 30/07/2017 12:29

Oh and rainy definitely ask the GP for help! Don't be a hero, you don't want to risk dehydration.

Pinkandwhite · 30/07/2017 13:22

Hello,

I've been lurking for weeks and weeks. I'm finally feeling brave enough to join in the chat at 13+2 (my due date is 2nd of Feb). This is baby number 2 for me. I have a little girl who will be 3 in a few weeks time. I had the harmony test done so I already know that I am expecting another girl which I'm thrilled about.

What do people think about starting a secret Facebook group? I'm on one from having my daughter and it's still going strong now 3.5 years after we started it.

RainyDayBear · 30/07/2017 17:05

I'm up for a Facebook group; I'm on a secret ones from DD's birth group and we're still going strong!

TriJo · 30/07/2017 19:12

Me too :)

Thattwatoverthere · 30/07/2017 19:20

FB group sounds good

baba great picture! Look at the little mouth! I also struggle to get my head around them being asleep or awake, isn't it weird to think that they're moving around and we have no idea unless we're being scanned? Can't wait to be able to feel it.

I told my friend my news so now I can be open about it at work which is a relief but it feels a bit odd to be telling people somehow, like a quite introverted bit of me has come out that doesn't want the fuss. Not like me at all. Only very close friends and my mum know so far...

My OH has had a flu/sickness thing over the weekend so I've been trying to stay away from him. Feel a bit bad about it but I don't want to get ill just as my nausea has gone away.

Has anyone got scans this week? I can't keep up!

babayagga · 30/07/2017 19:36

thattwat - thanks, that's the picture I'll be using to tell my family next week! Looks like it's smiling. I feel exactly the same about telling people, by the way: it's like exposing way too much of myself. DP and I have kept it to ourselves for so long, it will be weird when it's no longer our secret.

Very jealous of all your bumps, ladies; mine just looks like I've gained weight around my middle; keep waiting for someone to remark that I should go on a diet. Cake

llamabeans · 30/07/2017 19:50

I am feeling the same about telling people other than immediate family. On one hand I am excited about baby (and it will be obvious soon enough!) But on the other hand I don't really want people talking to me about it, like at work etc. It just feels so personal!

Also feeling quite round in the belly! Going to say it's 70% bloat, 18% cheese and chocolate and maybe about 2% baby. Been out of the office for a couple of weeks so have to hope my work clothes fit in the morning...

toots123 · 30/07/2017 20:45

Fb group is a good idea. I'm in one from my DD too and it's much easier to follow than the ante natal threads 😀

Pinkandwhite · 30/07/2017 20:53

I'm pleased people are up for a Facebook group. I find it much easier to follow than the antenatal thread too. I remember being worried about joining a fb group when I was pregnant with my daughter so just to say, it will be a secret group so no one else will be able to able to see you are a member.

Shall I set it up and then anyone who wants to join can personal message me and I'll send my name over so that you can find me on Facebook and be added? Does that work? I'm happy if anyone else would prefer to set it up though.

toots123 · 30/07/2017 20:58

Thanks for sorting pink will be far easier to follow.

Mummyhen5 · 30/07/2017 21:09

Had my scan last Wednesday as well, all looking great although we had the opposite problem of trying to get baby to hold still enough for measurements, I've also had my dd moved forward to February 1st. Lovely to see so many scan pictures from everyone.
I've been horribly ill with vomiting bug for 3 days which ironically I think I may have picked up from the hospital when I went for my scan, was a little worried for baby but everyone keeps reassuring me it'll be fine as long as I stay hydrated.
