Ahhh, I hadn't realised that! I feel quite lucky to be in England...

TriJo it's a horrible thing to have to think about, isn't it - but something that needs to be thought about. Hopefully we'll all be ok...

Ava1985 · 27/07/2017 17:14

Thanks for reminding me that it does get better ladies, I need to hear it! Even after having 2 babies I have forgotten what the nause and sickness feel like Hmm

And I too feel lucky to live in England where we have more choice over our pregnancies In certain circumstances. xx

DoTheFandango · 27/07/2017 18:07

So sorry to hear your sad news betty thinking of you

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow morning. Feeling really scared. Have felt a bit funny all day, not quite right and now worrying that it means it has all gone wrong. Feel free to send me vibes :)

Eli28 · 27/07/2017 18:22

Hi.
Hope you don't mind me jumping in. I'm 10+6 right now EDD 15/02/17. Counting down to my 12 week scan on the 4th August. Every day seems to be dragging just want it to hurry up so I can see little bean hopefully hear that heartbeat and feel reassured. Had my booking in appointment yesterday so many questions!!

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 27/07/2017 19:00

Hi Eli and welcome!

That's really interesting (and awful) about the situation in ROI/NI. I had no idea. I also can't believe they don't offer basic early testing off the back of their anti-abortion agenda. Unbelievable in 2017 (but then I guess look how women are treated in many countries across the world and it's not surprising).

Emily - I don't think anyone would shoot you down for that. It's a very delicate situation and (without passing judgement or implying you couldn't 'cope') some people just don't have the support that would likely be needed. DH and I feel we would only consider a TFMR if tests showed something that was incompatable with life/the baby would have a painful life full of suffering, but until you're in that situation and need to make those horrible decisions, I doubt anyone really knows how they'll feel. Hopefully we will all have healthy babies and won't need to make such heartbreaking decisions.

Wow, that was quite a heavy post for a Thursday evening Grin...

Troika · 27/07/2017 20:56

So sorry to hear of the losses Sad Betty, Em Flowers

I had a bleed a couple of nights ago after dtd. Been a bit scared ever since, especially as my sickness had subsided for a week or so beforehand.

Pretzel how did you stop bf your dd? Mine is only feeding at bedtime and in the night (usually once but sometimes up to 3 times). She drinks cows milk from a bottle (yes I know they say no bottles after 1 but I don't care Wink) mid morning and has done a few times at bedtime when I've gone out. Tonight we decided to try her with a bottle at bedtime and she took it fine but still asked for boob afterwards (was fine when I ignored her though and went to bed as normal). I now have very full and one sore boob and don't know whether to express or not... also no idea how I'd get her back to sleep in the night without bf! Think I'll leave dropping that feed a bit longer...

TriJo · 28/07/2017 06:18

Troika My milk is completely gone already - there's only drops left. The bug I had at 9 weeks seemed to finish the job. My little lad takes cows milk in a bottle as well - I'll worry later about moving him to a cup for milk.

EmilyK83 · 28/07/2017 10:38

Ladies, I have a question.

So, I'm not a big drinker anyway...but obviously I'm not drinking anything now Smile

My hen do is tomorrow! Nobody should question me not drinking for most of the day, hopefully...but if someone wants to go down the toasting route, any suggestions for how to get out of it without raising suspicions, please?!

TriJo · 28/07/2017 11:16

Sparkling water with a dash of apple juice or lime cordial looks quite like prosecco - or you could do a bit of a bait and switch where you only take a tiny sip from a glass of bubbly.

Enjoy the day :)

Loxy4527 · 28/07/2017 12:17

I'd try the sip and just leave your glass. Does anyone else on the hen do know? Would be easier if you had someone next to you to do sneaky swaps.

If someone notices... "I don't want to mix drinks" "Last time I had that I had the worst headache"

EmilyK83 · 28/07/2017 12:21

Thanks both - nice ideas! Luckily have chosen two activities that don't involve drinking, but there's a strong possibility that we'll end up out somewhere for drinks later on...

@DoTheFandango - hope your scan went well this morning lovely...

llamabeans · 28/07/2017 12:36

Hello all! Hope everyone is feeling okay!

Had my scan today at 12+6. Measuring bang on and all looking good, so due date confirmed as 3rd Feb. Was so strange to see baby waving their arms and wriggling. They even have a proper nose and what seemed like really long legs!

Starting to feel really excited now - only another 6 months to go.

(I'd attach a pic if I could work out how to on the app.)

DoTheFandango · 28/07/2017 12:38

EmilyK83 thanks lovely, the scan went well, my EDD has been put forward 5 days so I am now 13 weeks today and due on 2nd Feb! It was so lovely to see our little one, apparently all looks good in terms of brain, organs etc according to the sonographer.

Still need to wait for screening test results, fingers crossed they come back ok. Slightly worried as the nuchal measurement says 2.9mm on my notes, (the sonographer didn't say anything either way) and I think 3mm is the cut off for normal? But I am 28 so I guess my baseline risk will be low? Apparently I will get a call within 5 working days if I am high risk... have never wanted my phone not to ring so much!

Hope everyone is having a good day :)

lookatthemoon · 28/07/2017 13:08

Emily - can you just say you are on a crazy wedding diet and not allowed to drink? When is the big day??

Dothefandango - This website says 3.5 mm is the cut off and says 2.9 mm is within normal range! Have a read - might settle the nerves a bit.

Loxy4527 · 28/07/2017 14:58

Ohhh, great to hear some positive scan stories, llama and fandango!

Mine's tuesday and I'm getting quite scared now. Sometimes I hate being a realist because I always automatically try to prepare for the worst. I wish I had my DH's blind optimism sometimes.

Not long now, gotta stay as relaxed as possible.

Loxy4527 · 28/07/2017 15:00

Oh, also, llama I've got the iPhone app and there's a little paper clip icon next to the smiley face and the T below where you type. Tap that, you can add pics Smile

pretzelpieces · 28/07/2017 15:52

Only a partial catch up because I'm out of time at the moment!

betty I'm so sorry :(

Welcome sah and eli

baba I'm still shattered and feeling sick on and off. (13+2 today).

troika definitely only drop one feed at a time, I found my body adjusted really slowly to dropping feeds and I was sore. I hand expressed a little off until I felt comfortable - you don't want to risk getting mastitis. I read a gentle weaning article called weaning toddler Bob and preschooler Billie or something, and it had lots of suggestions for things to replace feeds. So I spent more one on one time singing, reading, cuddling etc during the day too as much as possible. Replaced night time feeds with cuddles as she's allergic to milk and has so far refused all substitutes! My partner took over most bedtimes before I started weaning, which helped break the feed to sleep cycle for us (not a bad association, in my opinion, but not good for weaning!) . Good luck!

BlackCatSmushyFace · 28/07/2017 16:31

Afternoon all
I checked in early But have been lurking since. Had my scan this week. It's a pain already... would not hold still and kept hiding but all fine. Had the screening never occurred to me to ask the internet what it all means. MN to the rescue. Thanks @lookatthemoon for the link! Mind at rest now. Fly out on holiday on sunday... will be able to enjoy it a bit more now! And just to share the goodness, I'll attempt to attach a pic.

DoTheFandango · 28/07/2017 17:08

lookatthemoon thank you for that link :) I think I just need to assume everything will be ok and if it isn't we will deal with it as and when we have to! I've felt paranoid now we have told some family that I am going to start bleeding- ridiculous superstitious pregnancy brain!

BlackCat what a lovely scan photo :)

RS123 · 28/07/2017 18:13

Hi, can I join in? Due Feb 23rd with my first - excited though a bit queasy at this moment! Body has gone woohoo and already look big - breasts and tummy - though a lot of bloating in there too!!

RS123 · 28/07/2017 18:16

When I feel rough I'm blurrr, and when I feel fine I worry where he/she has gone. Thinking of having the harmony test soon not for DS (though that will show) but for the other two conditions - worried but excited at the thought of a scan. Had one at 6+6 and am 10 wks today.

UTI without a doubt, cloudy urine and dipstick showing for nurse and midwife but nothing on lab tests. Had five days of amoxicillin but symptoms got worse rather than better - did full course. Bit in limbo over it but will prob see doctor again next week.

EmilyK83 · 28/07/2017 19:08

Congrats llama!

DoTheFandango ahhhh I'm so pleased for you! And honestly, I'm sure from what I've read that that nuchal measurement is within the normal range!

BlackCat what a lovely scan photo!

And hi RS123! Sorry to hear about the UTI - and totally with you on the symptoms - there one minute, not the next...there's always something to worry about!

lookatthemoon I may well do that, thank you! It's 5 weeks tomorrow, and I'm so nervous about still being able to fit into my dress, haha!

I'm about to say something that I'm sure I'm going to get shot down for...but here goes. I was a 20 a day smoker before I got my bfp, always told myself I'd stop completely as soon as I knew i was pregnant...but I just can't quit completely Sad I've cut down so much, but not quite there yet - I'm sure that's the reason I'm so worried that things won't work out. As far as my family and dp's family know, I've stopped - I'm hoping a whole day with them tomorrow and the fact that I can't for a long period of time will help...

llamabeans · 28/07/2017 20:27

Lovely scan is now being overshadowed by terrible headache and wisdom tooth pain. Is half 8 on a Friday too early for bed??

Having a bbq tomorrow with all of my immediate family so will be sharing the news which is exciting. Just have to hope it doesn't rain.

And, because why not, pic attached.

Thattwatoverthere · 29/07/2017 02:44

emilyk I've still been vaping and feel awful about it, the midwife knows and I'm on 0% nicotine but still. Have you asked for help in stopping completely? I know how hard it is to quit, vaping was the only way for me and now I'm addicted to that!

Great scan pictures blackcat and llama!!

TriJo · 29/07/2017 07:17

If you're on 0% nicotine surely you're more doing it for the action of it rather than the physical addiction? I wouldn't be too worried.
