From what I read different hospitals vary massively, as well as different sonographers - some friends of mine have been slipped a couple of extra pics at no additional cost...I'll be taking plenty of cash to mine just in case!

Emwahs sorry to hear you're still feeling rubbish, are you drinking enough? Hopefully you can get some answers...

Scandalicity · 25/07/2017 08:16

Ours is extortion then, £5 per picture & they will only accept pound coins!!

Bit the dust & weighed myself this morning at work, lost 2kg since booking in almost 2 weeks ago!! So this "bump" that has appeared must be all baby!!

EmilyK83 · 25/07/2017 08:34

You'd think there would be some consistency! Seems like a bit of a postcode lottery!

Well done on the weight loss Scandalicity! I'm off to weigh at my Slimming World group today for the first time in weeks and am fully expecting to have gained about that much...

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 25/07/2017 09:03

Ours also costs £5/scan picture. I don't really mind as it saves the NHS some money and our local hospital is at risk of being closed down Sad (which then leaves people having to travel about an hour to the next nearest hospital! Madness!).

TriJo · 25/07/2017 09:03

Ours is free at the 12 week scan and £2 at the 20 week scan.

Scandal I've lost about 2kg in the first trimester as well, most of it is attributable to that stomach bug around 9 weeks though! I was starting quite heavy though (76kg @ 165cm) so could probably stand to lose a bit more.

Toomanydogs · 25/07/2017 09:08

Ours was £5 per photo! Although midwife gave us two 'free' and only charged for one, as the other two weren't quite as good. The free ones were slightly irrelevant though as DP didn't read the sign on machine saying it doesn't give change so rather than use the £5 he had in coins he put a £20 in... oops!
Scandal HG has meant I've lost a stone and a half in the first trimester, not intentionally obviously although it's weight I could have done with the losing anyway at any other time lol. Luckily sickness has eased off a lot now only being sick once or twice a day and keeping most food down with assistance of drugs.

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 25/07/2017 09:12

On the weight-front I've lost 2lbs which I'm pleased about. I'm almost 10 weeks now. When I was pregnant with DS I gained a stone by the end of the first trimester and by the end of my pregnancy I had gained not far off 5 stone. It was awful: so difficult moving around and constantly in pain from the swelling. As I was starting this pregnancy 2 stone heavier than when I started my first pregnancy I was SO worried that I'd balloon really early this time as well. I just want to maintain as long as possible and exercise when I can (with DS I felt so ill so suddenly went from exercising most days to not at all...I also needed carbs carbs carbs or I felt horrendous Grin. Easy to see how I gained so much!).

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 25/07/2017 09:15

Tri - my starting stats are almost exactly the same as yours Grin.

lookatthemoon · 25/07/2017 10:32

Emwahs - sorry to hear you are unwell. FlowersI had my first ever migraine a couple of weeks ago after eating a particularly msg heavy meal. Is your diet any different now?

I have stayed the exact same weight. But I look like I have put on heaps as my boobs and tummy have grown soo much. Makes everything tight!!

lookatthemoon · 25/07/2017 10:35

There is a thread in pregnancy at the mo called 'night feeding box'. Highly recommend everyone has a look. Some great tips for when we are night feeding newborns. I had forgotten so much ...

pretzelpieces · 25/07/2017 10:53

emily Haha! Oh god I don't think I could face a milkshake at the moment 😷

emwahs That makes it even worse! Hopefully a couple of days with less contact will help her realise you're not happy about it. Sorry about the vomming :/ I just feel sick constantly, haven't been sick at all yet.

thattwat I'm not going to carry my notes with me yet. Midwife said it was fine to wait until later in pregnancy for that and since they are huge and in a bright yellow folder I'm in no hurry! I'm also worrying about telling a couple of friends sensitively. I know they'll be upset, I used to feel sad with every baby announcement (because I wasn't in a position to start trying yet and I was worried I never would be).

Glad you're feeling a bit better toomany, I wouldn't wish HG on my worst enemy.

I'm not sure what I weigh, I was about 60kg at booking in and I'm 5'6", they said that was alright.

Our photos were £10, we got two the same and one rubbish blurry one so I was a bit miffed.

Loxy4527 · 25/07/2017 10:56

Hey guys this might not be pregnancy related as I have a desk job and back pain comes with the territory but I thought I'd ask. Today I've developed a discomfort in my lower back, I say discomfort as it's not very painful yet. Basically it feels like I need to click one of my lower vertebrae just above my tail bone but I can't get it and am conscious of over stretching myself. Anyone else had this with previous pregnancies? If it gets worse or continues all day I'll text my midwife about it.

pretzelpieces · 25/07/2017 11:28

loxy I love that you can text your midwife! I've got back pain, it's probably due to the relaxin hormone making all the joints move around a lot more. It can make you more susceptible to injury too though.

lookatthemoon · 25/07/2017 11:38

I have back pain too! Have been wondering if I need to stop lifting my toddler

Loxy4527 · 25/07/2017 11:40

I did wonder if that might be playing a part, Pretzel. Gonna try some careful stretches at lunch. And yeah, at my booking appointment she gave me her mobile number as her contact, she's on the move between the hospital, the children's centre and home visits all week so it makes sense. I prefer to text than call so I'm not interrupting her appointments etc Smile

Snozwanger · 25/07/2017 14:57

Just caught up on the thread emwithme I'm so sorry to hear of your loss SadFlowers x

RainyDayBear · 25/07/2017 19:22

Photos at our local hospital cost £6 for two last time round - but at both scans the people doing the ultrasound snuck a third one in! Our local hospital takes cards too which makes life easy.

My 12 week scan is a week tomorrow, starting to get a bit nervous now! Last time round I had an early reassurance scan at 8 weeks, so was fairly confident things would be okay. This time round I haven't so I'm more nervous!

OP posts:
EmilyK83 · 25/07/2017 19:38

Haha Rainy - card payments are dangerous, I reckon they must make a fortune from people buying LOADS of pics!

Keeping everything crossed for you for next Weds. Two weeks today till mine and my anxiety is playing up big time, I've basically convinced myself it's going to be bad news and I can't banish that thought...

Louanne89 · 25/07/2017 19:42

Hi all,

Am I ok to join?

I have my 12 week scan tomorrow morning and starting to get nervous. I had an early scan at 7 weeks due to previous mmc and everything was okay (aside from a cyst) but just really starting to get anxious for tomorrow.

Hope everyone is okay Smile

boringbetty · 25/07/2017 21:03

Welcome Lou

** I've got my private scan tomorrow and I'm a so nervous . I thought I'd be excited but can't shake the thought it's going to be bad news

Louanne89 · 25/07/2017 21:18

@boringbetty I'm the same! It's reassuring to know you feel the same though, I just can't seem to get excited due to nerves!
Hopefully it'll all turn to excitement when we've had ours tomorrow!
Fingers crossed for you xxxx

GingerRogers84 · 25/07/2017 21:19

So sorry @emwithme Flowers

I also have my scan tomorrow. 8:40 am!! I'm hoping as it's at stupid o'clock they won't be running late! The letter said scan pics are £2.

Pidgythe2nd · 25/07/2017 21:21

I had my scan on Monday. All was looking good and the baby was quite active!
Scan picture was £3. Just got the one.
Slightly annoyed as we wanted the sex to be a surprise but the sonographer paused the screen looking down the body with legs wide. No denying there was something there!! Would be very surprised if the baby was a girl!
Really wanted a surprise, but I suppose nothing was confirmed.
My dates changed too so instead of 12,1 I measured 12,5. So will be 13 weeks tomorrow. Edd now 31st Jan!!

You too Lou .
*
Ginger* - they can't be running late that early surely . Mine isn't till 5.05 so got all day to wait

GingerRogers84 · 25/07/2017 21:22

@pretzelpieces
I shall definitely look into daisy birthing. I feel from my research that everything is so clinical and I like the sound of a more relaxed natural approach.
I also want to make some friends as I live somewhere where I don't know many people and all of my family are hundreds of miles away. ☺️
