Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

Hope everyone had a lovely, sunny weekend!

First day today! I don't start till 10, so I'm going to try to find a new outfit that maybe conceals bump a bit better. Or I could just be honest and risk pissing my new manager off Grin

Zaberwocky · 19/06/2017 08:06

Scots symptom I'm afraid! Unless you've radically changed your diet. I think pregnancy slows digestion down from what I've read, which leads to more gas? I may be wrong though!

Brens13 · 19/06/2017 08:15

Good luck today zaber

It's my first day back after two weeks holiday and I already can't wait until December and a year off! Boss isn't in until midday too so have to wait to tell him. He'll be fine and will most probably make it all about him potentially leaving before that anyway, so I'm not worried.

Joined the cold shower club this morning. It was lovely, but I'm already absolutely boiled. I need to change work policy so we can all wear shorts and t-shirt....something else to tell the boss when he gets in!

biginjapan · 19/06/2017 08:22

Morning everyone. I had a tiny bit of bright red blood when I wiped this morning. Panicking a bit - should I call the epu?

Brens13 · 19/06/2017 08:32

If it will reassure you Japan to speak to an expert then I definitely would. Otherwise, I'd probably just try and keep an eye on it this morning and if it gets worse give them a call.

(TMI - I had a spot of red blood when I wiped the other day, but on second wiping it appears straining from constipation was probably the cause, so try not to panic and maybe double check! I'm sorry, I know that's far TMI!!!)

biginjapan · 19/06/2017 08:44

No brens, never tmi! Reassuring, thank you. I called maternity triage and they said it's very common at this point. So far no more.

Brens13 · 19/06/2017 08:47

Oh good, I'm pleased you got some reassurance, and that there doesn't seem to be anymore. It's such a shock when you see it though isn't it, your heart definitely skips a beat! I've definitely not looked at toilet paper this much in my whole life as the last 3 months Grin

Mrsbluebell17 · 19/06/2017 08:57

Hope all is ok Japan, if they've said it's common then it's try not to worry.

Good luck for your first day Zaber.

Brens I'm back today after some time off too!. Good luck for your first day back.

Lixon · 19/06/2017 09:04

Good luck today Zaber! At least it can't be any worse than the last place 😀

Sorry to hear that Japan but glad the midwife was reassuring- hopefully no more comes along.

I am definitely extra gassy at the moment, I was hoping it might pass after first trimester but no such luck! I also had black poo over the weekend which worried me a bit but google suggests it's excess iron and quite common.

First day in a maternity

Lixon · 19/06/2017 09:07

Oops! Maternity dress today!

Went for this one which is nice and floatyand coolish on the tube. Hopefully gives me balls to tell a few more people!!

Zaberwocky · 19/06/2017 09:10

Lixon obviously on the tube, as I'm sure you're aware, you stick your bump out in hopes of a seat!

Same for lines for toilets Wink

Thank you everyone! Try not to worry Japan - I know it's difficult not to. Flowers

StumpyScot92 · 19/06/2017 09:15

Gosh always so much to catch up on after a couple of days away from here haha!

Congratulations on your two boys! Flowers

For Fathers day I booked my DP and me a gender scan and gave him a card telling him, its booked for the 29th when we'll be just over 16 weeks but I booked it yonks ago and was dying to tell him so I was surprised I kept it quiet until yesterday! He's so excited. Everyone I know seems to think I'm having a girl yet I have absolutely no inclination either way even though its me it's inside haha.

That's a lovely dress lixon! I'm not in maternity yet but I am in my mums clothes which are bigger than mine.. going shopping at the end of the month for some maternity I think.

CarlottaJo · 19/06/2017 09:18

I'm so jealous of you bumpy ladies, normal clothes and my normal size scrubs at work, is there something in there?!

CarlottaJo · 19/06/2017 09:21

Much respect to you tube users, we went to a London wedding a couple of years ago and had to catch one on a Monday morning, my inner country bumpkin definitely came out, couldn't believe how busy it was and nearly had a panic attack (I know, I'm a loser haha) xx

Zaberwocky · 19/06/2017 09:36

Well 😂 I'm half an hour early, and there is not anywhere round here to occupy myself!

CarlottaJo · 19/06/2017 09:38

I missed it was your first day Zaber, good luck xxx

Carley27 · 19/06/2017 09:46

Snap Carlotta, so jealous of the bumpy ladies! I think I'm having round ligament pain today so hopefully bump will make an appearance soon.

Japan there's nothing worse than the feeling when you see a spot of blood, but it's far more common that I realised! Glad triage were able to give you some reassurance.

Brens I can't wait for maternity leave either, already debating when I will start it from!

Good luck with the new job Zaber!

Haha zaber i'm early everywhere too, normally walk around until I'm only 15 minutes early and then go in, and hope whatever appointment it is has somewhere for me to wait!

CarlottaJo · 19/06/2017 10:07

I'm always early too, hope our babies take after us Smile

Carley27 · 19/06/2017 10:13

I'm always late so hopefully I don't pass that on Blush

Decided to have a cleaning day, it's not pretty. I'm so hot and just nearly keeled over doing the shower cubicle!

Brens13 · 19/06/2017 14:19

Are you mad *Carlotta"?! I can't imagine finding the energy in this heat for cleaning Grin Fair play! Make sure you take breaks and drink plenty of water.

We've recently hired a cleaner (only 2 hrs every fortnight, nothing flash), but last visit she broke our shower (snapped the handle off) and didn't tell us, so I have to leave her a note for when she comes tomorrow. I want to be firm but fair but am not sure how to word it. I want her to know that we know she did it and are very disappointed she didn't tell us. That she's probably realised by now that we haven't told her boss and have ourselves replaced the shower, so please in the future could she tell us if she damages anything, accidents happen. We don't want her to break something else we don't discover for longer. I just feel like we can't trust her anymore, but I don't want to have to go through finding another!

CarlottaJo · 19/06/2017 15:28

I'm on an extended break as we speak, wandered to M&S food and spent 20 unnecessary pounds on food for lunch and dinner! Oops!

I would really love a cleaner a couple of hours a week, with working very random shifts and my OH being a teacher with lots of work to do at home I think it would be helpful, won't be suggesting it for a while as the Harmony test is still a bit of a financial sting! You sound like you've been really reasonable in the circumstances @Brens13, definitely more than fair, very annoying she didn't just tell you though, accidents happen and did she just think you wouldn't notice? X

Brens13 · 19/06/2017 15:43

Haha I do that often - come out of a food shop thinking £20 isn't that bad, then realise I've basically only bought one meal and snacks and that's really not good at all! Hope you got something tasty though :)

It's also extra annoying as we were off work that day so actually saw her before she left as well so she had an opportunity to mention it. DH then went straight to have a shower and couldn't. We'll wait and see what she says in reply to our note!

Carley27 · 19/06/2017 15:50

How are everyones energy levels at the moment? I'm 13+5 and really flagging in the afternoons at work at the moment.
