Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

Oyster I found the mountain buggy the other day in my searching. Really like the look of it. How old will your toddler be? Mine will be 26 months. I wonder if it will be too narrow for her though.

mamalovesviolet · 17/06/2017 06:02

I've been up since about 4. Every flipping morning at around 4 some stupid animal or bird walks over the flat part of my loft extension roof. I lie here thinking of ways to create a homemade periscope so I can see what the hell is up there! Every sodding morning!!! And I'm lying here massively hungry. Need to put some snacks in my bedside table.

Lolabee · 17/06/2017 06:16

Ooo gender scan. Hope your wriggler doesn't keep it's legs crossed glasto

I'm tempted but got 2 weeks yet before I can book/have one

Lolabee · 17/06/2017 06:21

How annoying mama. That'd drive me nuts! Especially as I tend to take up around 4 for an hour or so and then doze off again for a couple of hours.
I'm awake now though having managed to get up for a wee around 430 and then get pretty much back to sleep. Tempted to get up now but probably will lay in the pit for a little while yet.

DP is still being an ass. Not sure what do do about him and how much is my hormones so a bit flummoxed.

Peachi82 · 17/06/2017 07:06

Hi everyone, I had a long journey home, flight delayed, tube not running smoothly, train was OK. Anyway, home in the end. Here to comfort my mum and to help her sort out stuff for the funeral next week. Today the passing of my dad will be in the newspaper, so we're going away for the weekend to see my older sister. Avoiding all the telephone calls.
Went to city centre yesterday and bought some reduced maternity jeans (sooooo comfy) and two reduced shirts, very happy.

Nausea is definitely less than last week. I'm 13+2 now.

Mrsbluebell17 · 17/06/2017 07:42

I have never had anything like this before glasto so not sure what it is, and don't have anything like gaviscon in the house. Will do some googling and see what I need to get from Asda in a bit.

Good luck with your gender scan. Let us know!!

I managed to get another hours sleep so that's good. I'm awake but shattered now. Just making some food for a BBQ we are going to later today.

Glad you got home safely peachi. I hope the next few weeks are smooth for you with your mum and sister. Thinking of you x

Oysterbabe · 17/06/2017 07:49

Mama my toddler will turn two 2 weeks after my due date, so similar age. My friend has one and his 3 year old is fine in it. I read a review that said a 4 year old can still sit in it. Hopefully it'll be ok!

glastogal · 17/06/2017 09:04

I may have experienced my first Braxton Hicks last night.. my tummy suddenly felt really weird and when I felt it, it was rock hard all over! No pain - just oddness. A quick Google suggested other ladies have experienced this as early as 15 weeks so I'm choosing not to be worried. Wonder how often that will happen though? ConfusedConfusedConfused

Lixon · 17/06/2017 09:05

Good luck today glasto, how exciting!!

I hope you find something that works for the discomfort mrsbluebell, that sounds rubbish.

Manalovesviolet would earplugs help with the noise? I have to wear them for bird song here!

Sorry to hear about your stressful journey Peachi, I hope you're all comforting each other and glad you've had some time to yourself.

It seems lots of us are still suffering with sleep still. Has anyone had sleeplessness that actually improved in the second trimester? I wake several times for a wee and usually the one at 3/4 I can't get back to sleep for hours. Which is kind of ok at weekends but not when my alarm then goes off shortly after!

I'm going bathroom shopping with my husband today but going to try and squeeze in a visit to a Seraphine store /Topshop and John Lewis maternity in Oxford Street if possible 😀

Mrsbluebell17 · 17/06/2017 09:23

Thanks Lixon I'm hoping it's passed now as just eating some cereal and all seems ok. Will keep an eye on it.

Hope shopping goes well for you today.

I'm exactly the same with sleeping, but I'm managing to get another hour or so's sleep if I don't have to be up early and therefore I can try and sleep again for a bit around 7 ish. It's been ok whilst I've been off work this week, but next week is going to be tough!!

Just made a potato salad and a coleslaw for this BBQ we are off to later with some of DHs family. Going to make some Halloumi and veg skewers too! Yum!

Looking forward to a bit of time in the sun today Grin hopefully it'll help my skin as it's still not brilliant!! Also, might help me to get that 'pregnancy glow' Grin ..... maybe?!

Miami81 · 17/06/2017 09:56

Mrs
Heartburn here as well. Tends to be if I have had something greasy or just too much. So if I go to bed feeling a bit bloated then I wake up a few hours later with the burn. Have the gaviscon in my bedside table.
My reflexologist said the fitful sleep might be food related so to have a small handful of nuts or an oatcake or two when I wake up and water to try and get back to sleep. Gonna try that this week.
Am at the hairdressers. My roots were so bad. Am giving in to my curly hair after years of blow drying and straightening. I just can't face dealing with all the styling when I feel so tired. It will be good practice for when baby is here and all I will manage is a hair wash if I am lucky!!

glastogal · 17/06/2017 10:59

Anxiously waiting for zaber to get back from her gender scan..

Carley27 · 17/06/2017 11:45

Bluebell I'm still impatiently waiting for the 'glow' to arrive 😬 enjoy your BBQ!

Ooh I didn't realise you could get Braxton hicks that early glasto! Must be very strange the first time!

Thinking of you and your family peachi 💐

Excited to hear about today's gender scans glasto & zaber 😀

Just woken up awaiting pink or blue news, I'm saying two pinks! How exciting! Xx

CarlottaJo · 17/06/2017 12:05

I look like the walking dead after falling into bed post nights with no make up removal or teeth brushing last night, need an emergency shower immediately!

CarlottaJo · 17/06/2017 12:05

Definitely nowhere close to a glow haha

MontyPants · 17/06/2017 12:11

Bluebell I've already booked one at mothercare for £49. Didn't even think to check groupon. Thanks for letting me know though.

Glasto looking forward to hearing your news!!!

Carlotta I feel your pain with the night shifts. They are always super fun....... I'm only on the evening shift at work until midnight tonight so that's not too bad (anyone who works normal hours probably thinks even working until midnight is hell)

CarlottaJo · 17/06/2017 12:18

@MontyPants and obviously today is the day of allllllll of the lawnmowers! Hope your shift passes quickly, I'm on 4 next week which is my least fave! I forecast moaning girls! Xx

Zaberwocky · 17/06/2017 12:26
