Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

Congrats on your girl Lapin!

I got my screening results through. 1 in 2317 for Downs and 1 in 35501 for Edwards and Patau. I'm happy with that given my advanced years and NT of 2.5.

StumpyScot92 · 15/06/2017 19:04

Aw crap glasto I told DP that the 16 week appointment would probably be boring and not to bother booking it off haha. Guess I'm phoning my midwife tomorrow to find out if I'll hear the heartbeat then too so I can let him know!

Also a bit of a WWYD, me and DP are dying to find out the gender and will be. His Mum however doesn't want to know. Everyone else we know wants to know. How the hell do you keep it secret from one person whilst simultaneously wanting to shout it from the rooftops arghhh.

Zaberwocky · 15/06/2017 19:51

Ohhhh Lapin ! Congratulations Smile that's so lovely.

Zaberwocky · 15/06/2017 19:53

And welcome Rebs ! You're braver than me reading through five threads of us talking about food!

How've you been getting on so far?

ScotsLamb · 15/06/2017 19:59

Talking of food... I have ribs and a rotisserie chicken in the oven to have with garlic bread and coleslaw. I'm actually looking forward to food!!!! I hope I make it through the meal 😀

rebs1993 · 15/06/2017 20:03

Thank you Zaber!

Been not too bad, suffered bad with nausea up till about a week ago! Wasn't eating much, couldn't stomach the idea of food! But now I could eat everything in sight this last week! Haha. Glad to be in the good stage now! How has your journey been so far?

glastogal · 15/06/2017 20:37

stumpy - I wasnt really expecting her to listen for it.. everything I read online suggested they no longer even try until 24 weeks, so I was surprised!!

glastogal · 15/06/2017 20:39

Also, we are just not telling anyone the sex of our baby (unless we mess up). I don't think it's possible for everyone but your mum to know. Just give her the choice - you can either find out from us, or risk finding out by accident from someone else!!

TipTop333 · 15/06/2017 20:40

I think the heartbeat at 16 weeks thing depends on the trust or clinic. Apparently it is blanket policy within my area to not do hb at 16 weeks because they can struggle to find it but can't refer you to the hospital until 17 weeks (policy) so it can cause a lot of issues. Seems to have been quite contentious I think as she made a point of going over it at my booking in!

4boysandonemore · 15/06/2017 20:51

Hi everyone ,
I've thought I would finally join this group as I've been a bit nervous following a late miscarriage last year . I'm 15 + 3 and this is my 5th baby and I have had all boys so far. I've got a gender scan next week but I'm pretty certain it's another boy ☺️
I can't believe how fast time is going, especially the last few weeks

Oysterbabe · 15/06/2017 21:19

Welcome 4boys!

They don't do the heartbeat at 16 week appointment round here either. Midwife said the 16 week appointment will take 5 minutes; wee test, blood pressure, stick my blood results in my book.

Mrsbluebell17 · 15/06/2017 21:36

Welcome Rebs.
Scots that dinner sounds delicious. We had chicken Kiev with veg and potatoes. Bit naughty but better than pub food which was our other option.

Stumpy* That's a shame, why doesn't your MIL want to know? I agree with what glasto said.

My bump is getting rounder and more bump shaped by the day! 14+5 today. I love the bump, it really makes me feel pregnant!

Lapin congrats on the girl news!

Oyster glad you are now relieved about your stats.

Congrats and welcome 4boys. Wow, you must have a busy household Smile

Mrsbluebell17 · 15/06/2017 21:36

Oh bold fail again. I'm no good with the app! Hmm

feelingcalledlove · 15/06/2017 21:44

Welcome 4boys and Rebs Smile

I'm also in the 'eat everything now the nausea has fine' club. I missed food so much... Dinner was nachos with guacamole and refried beans. Even tried making vegan nacho cheese sauce. It was...better than I expected. So that's something!

Lapin Congrats on the girl news, how exciting!

Brens13 · 15/06/2017 21:48

I didn't have bad nausea so was in the eat everything camp during that time to keep it at bay. I'm currently more back to normal hunger, but now can only ever taste chocolate when trying to decide what to eat 😂 I need this to pass soon!

MontyPants · 15/06/2017 22:22

Welcome Rebs and 4boys!

I'm definitely in the eat everything camp. Just went to dinner with my friend to one of those buffet places. I'm feeling pretty stuffed.

I have my mystery consultant appointment tomorrow, the one where I have no idea what it's for. We shall see in the morning....

Mrsbluebell17 · 15/06/2017 22:31

Good luck for tomorrow Monty. Let us know how you get on.

Mrsbluebell17 · 16/06/2017 02:27

I'm still struggling with sleeping HmmI wasn't the best sleeper before but now I seem to wake up a couple of times each night and struggle to sleep again. I'm off work on leave at the moment so at least I can take extra naps where needed.

rebs1993 · 16/06/2017 06:11

I'm the exact same bluebell. It's rubbish I toss and turn, dread to think what'll be like further on! I'm up today for my first shift back after 2 weeks leave, so exhausted! Can't imagine what'll I'll be like after my 4th shift. Take all the naps you need, it really does help. it's good to not feel guilty for taking one. Also buy a pregnancy pillow! There great!

Mrsbluebell17 · 16/06/2017 06:24

Hey Rebs yeah I think I'll continue napping as it's the best thing at the moment, my only problem with napping is that it takes me ages to get to sleep Confused.

I've got a pregnancy pillow although I'm away at the moment and so not got it with me. Going home this morning so looking forward to getting wrapped back up in that! I'm back at work Monday but we have a busy weekend ahead with birthday celebrations on and seeing DHs family etc.

Hope your day at work goes ok!

glastogal · 16/06/2017 08:35

I'm loving my pregnancy pillow too bluebell and rebs.. keeps me on my left side most of the time, but it does make me extra hot on these warm nights, so I do wake for longer at the moment!

Cancelled my run this morning.. slightly achey belly and really bunged up. Not a good combo for running. Might go this evening if I feel up to it or just do parkrun in the morning.

Gonna go make an omelette for breakfast 👍 hope everyone has a lovely Friday!!

CarlottaJo · 16/06/2017 08:51

Morning guys, I'm here, lurking a bit as struggling waiting for these Harmony results. Congrats to all with lovely news and good luck to all those getting scans, I'm nights tonight, it's an extra as got my salary sacrifice car this month so need to do a couple of shifts a month to make up the cash. Sending love xxx

Oysterbabe · 16/06/2017 09:06

I just received my bump kit from Seraphine. It's lovely, really soft material and great quality.

4boysandonemore · 16/06/2017 11:12

Thank you everyone Smile
Yes it's a very busy house here but I love it .
Good luck to everyone with hospital appointments today and Carlotta waiting for your results . Hope it's not a long wait for you now

Carley27 · 16/06/2017 11:13

Stumpy unfortunately for your MIL she will just have to accept your wishes in finding out the gender. If you're telling other people it's a matter of time until someone accidentally says something in front of her. Agree with Glasto that she will need to decide whether to find out from you or probably find out from someone else!

Welcome rebs and 4boys!

bluebell I'm not sleeping the best either, had a really long nap last night though so feeling more energised today!

Told my work today.. feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders! All this telling people has been tiring work!
