December 2017 babies #6 - dating scans, gender reveals, the beginning of bumps & the 2nd trimester!

Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

The sunshine and heat is lovely, but it isn't half making it difficult for me to sleep tonight

Morning lovely ladies! I'm up and about early as we're off to London this morning...me, DP, my friend and my mam.
We're having a general wander around today, Harry Potter studios tomorrow and Madam Tussauds on Saturday. Getting home on Sat night/Sunday morning at about 1am! Going to be a very long and tiring few days but I can't wait!

Got my 16 week midwife appt this morning. Not really sure what that will entail (other than I have to pee in a pot this morning) but I will let you know. She talked about listening to the heartbeat last time but every website I read says that won't happen so I'm not getting my hopes up!!

Morning! Going in to have a blood test today as the MW called yesterday and said my glucose levels were slightly high so they need to check for gestational diabetes (!) although it could have been the pain au chocolate I'd eaten before the bloods last time!

Mary enjoy your few days away, I went on the Harry Potter tour last year and loved it!

Glasto oooh yes please do let us know what the appointment entails, mine is in about two or three weeks time.

Monkey hopefully it's just that pesky pain au chocolat hey! Good luck.

zaber I've finally joined you in shopping - Yeay! I went to a Mothercare event last night too like glasto (I think it was you, sorry if not). Ours was pretty good, very informative and with loads of discounts. We ended up buying a pumping and feeding set, sleeping cushion that converts to a sleeping and tummy time cushion for baby, a room temperature thing, white noise thing (DH was sold by the sales person) lol and our car seat as there was a guy there from maxi cosi so we could ask lots of questions. DH has now said I should write a list of all the things I want and we can tick a few off each month. Yeay!

Ohhhh Glasto! My MW told DH it would be a nice appointment for him to go to at 16 weeks as they do listen to the heartbeat! DH will bloody be attending as he only needs to drag his chair 10 metres

Brens I'm so glad haha! I popped in to mothercare yesterday and discovered that whilst I still like the Journey ... there's a silvercross that fits in my boot ...

And thank you all for the in law reassurance I just feel sorry for DH more than anything. And them, they'll be the ones to miss out.

DM and DF desperately want to throw a baby shower in August 😂 They love any excuse for a family get together. They have however told me it's cancelled if I invite MIL/SIL ... I'm not sure if they're kidding!

Also Glasto TWO MORE SLEEPS!

The waiting for the scan is worse than the wait for Christmas!

Ooo zaber I like the silver cross pioneer. Haven't checked the measurements yet tho. My lovely sister has offered to buy our pushchair so we're going to do some test drives in all the shops together soon, should be fun!

Brens My FiL offered to buy our pram - until we told him how much they cost

Mary The HP tour is excellent, you're going to love it! Jealous that you get to see the Forbidden Forest too, it wasn't there when I went.

Zaber The situation with DH's family sounds beyond crap. It's good that you've found a way to put some barriers up though. Like you said though, ultimately it's them that will miss out.

We heard Bug's heartbeat ♥️♥️ and heard it kick at the doppler.. sassy little so-and-so!!

Also, went through blood results and found out my blood type.. blood pressure, pee tested, next appt booked for 22 weeks and general chat about going to Glasto next week and constipation 😂 covered a lot of ground in 30 mins!

Now I'm really excited for the scan on Sat. Looking forward to your reveal as much as my own zaber!

Glad your mothercare event was better than ours brens.. I'm starting to wonder if we are ever gonna do more than window shopping!!

Feeling I think it's for the best! I can't do another five years of banging my head against a brick wall. I figure DC will have an amazing variety of immediate and extended family on my side, plus DH's dad's side of the family. They won't miss out by not having much/anything to do with MIL and SIL.

I've got home to find DH has hosted a BBQ and there's sauce all over my £££ alpaca throw... I sense a tearful trip to the dry cleaners in my future!

Brens it's so difficult deciding isn't it? I still love the journey, but I'm a bit put off by the free car seat (which I know is daft because you don't have to use it because it's free).

Glasto as long as you don't keep window shopping for important things on your due date you're fine! I cracked up in John Lewis when I overheard a lady was due there and then, that day, with twins, and still hadn't bought a pushchair!

Thanks for the 16 week scan info Glasto, got mine in 2 and a half weeks. So cute you got to hear the heartbeat!

We are going to book a gender scan for a few weeks time I think - so excited!

Got my harmony results back, all clear and another little girl! Am so happy

Speaking of 16 week mw appointments - anyone know if it's appropriate to take a toddler? Childcare would involve my dad having to take time out of work which isn't ideal for him so would much prefer to take her.

I will have to look out for Mothercare events-I have no clue on how to look for a pushchair or all the other bits you need or don't need, the only thing I know I want is a Sleepyhead pod and bumbo!

Just found this forum. I'm a first time mum due in December! loved reading through all your experiences and seeing your scan photos! Went for my second dating scan yesterday, (first was too early) and baby was curled in a ball and wouldn't stretch, so back in 3 weeks for another one☺️ shouldn't complain! Getting to see the baby all the time. So I'm around 13 weeks! Here's our little bee ....

First of all congrats to lapin on team girl, and congrats to everyone else who has had lovely scans that I may have missed.

I'm 15 weeks today according to lmp/midwife dates and apparently baby is now the size of a lemon...wow! My scan countdown is nearly over and we will hopefully see little bean tomorrow around 1pm 😁 I'm super nervous though, I'm so worried there won't really be a baby there or that I will get bad news. I seriously can't believe how relaxed I was in my previous 2 pregnancies compared to this one. I've done nothing but worry the whole entire time. Fingers crossed all is well tomorrow 🤞🤞🤞
