Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

Hi everyone. Congratulations on your exciting news :)

Husband and I had our nuchal translucency scan today. Everything was perfect. We are due on 25th December.

The doctor could tell the sex of our baby (its out first). We asked him to write it on a piece of paper and seal the envelope. We plan to open it on our 1st wedding anniversary, which is on 25th June. We are taking our witnesses to brunch and making a thing of it.

The thing is... I cant stop thinking about the envelope. Just envelope envelope envelope, its the only word in my head. My husband has the envelope because we both know I cant be trusted. How do I get through these next two weeks?!

Carley27 · 12/06/2017 16:00

Congratulations Neoflex - an xmas day due date, how exciting!

You obviously have more willpower than me as I would have made DH give me the envelope back by now Grin but that's really lovely that you will be finding out on your wedding anniversary!

Thanks ladies. Actually had my 16 week consultation with my consultant today so spoke with her about yesterday's incident and my worries (especially after a bit of brown spotting this morning). She was really reassuring and did a quick scan and heartbeat check - Little Biker seems absolutely fine (and his head is still round!) so very relieved! 😊

And she confirmed that the little hard lumps we keep feeling are definitely LB kicking and moving around 😄💙

@Brens13 & @Monkeypuzzle32 Great scan pics!

@Neoflex & @glitteryvibes Great news :) @Neoflex - can't believe they can tell gender from a scan so early!

Lillygolightly · 12/06/2017 16:11

Congratulations on the wonderful scans Brens Monkey and Neoflex I'm so pleased all went well.

14.4 weeks for me today and I'm officially on scan countdown for Friday yay!!! Finally it's nearly here..:.feels like I've waited ages.

Carley27 · 12/06/2017 16:12

Oh that was good timing Biker, glad they did a scan for you and that everything was fine! I can't believe you can already feel your LO!

Hi everyone,
I'm sorry I was so quiet over the weekend. My dad died on Friday :-( It wasn't unexpected as he was terminally ill for a very long time, but this doesn't mean it is less painful. I'm not coping well.
I have my scan tomorrow, flying home on Wednesday, not sure for how long, I have requested unpaid leave from work in addition to compassionate leave.
I just hope the baby is OK tomorrow, I'm not sure if I could deal with another loss right now.

Carley27 · 12/06/2017 16:37

Ah Peachi I'm so sorry, can't begin to imagine how you're feeling. I really hope your scan goes well tomorrow, your LO will be something positive to get you through the hard times. We are all here if you want to talk Flowers

So sorry @Peachi82 Thoughts are with you. Hope your scan goes well and helps x

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 12/06/2017 16:43

@Carley27 Quite! We've been feeling this little hard lump for a couple of weeks above and to the right or left of the pubic line, but suddenly this weekend it also appeared about an inch below my belly button. Freaky but SO cool 😄💙

Bisquick · 12/06/2017 16:43

Oh Peachi I'm so sorry for your loss. Hope your scan goes well tomorrow! x

fishfingerSarnies · 12/06/2017 16:44

Hey everyone,

So sorry about your Dad Peachi. Fingers crossed that your scan tomorrow can bring a little joy to what is a sad time for you.

I've got my scan tomorrow too, I've been feeling much less sick today managed to get up shower and get dressed without having to eat this morning which felt amazing.

I had a horribly exhausting weekend I was feeling very ill in the middle of Saturday night with agonising cramps, it was really scary as dh was away and I thought something was going wrong. Turned into dihorrea and vomiting (tmi?) I woke both the kids up moaning in pain, and it was just generally an awful night.

Glad they did a scan Biker can't believe people are 16 weeks already and feeling babies move, how exciting

Bisquick · 12/06/2017 16:44

Neoflex and Monkey - lovely news on the scans.
Biker I can't believe you're 16 weeks already! Whew! So exciting that you can feel the baby moving now!

FeedMyFaceWithBattenberg · 12/06/2017 16:49

It's been ages since I wrote on here...
Battenberg obvs!
EDD: 8th December (scan dating)
Next midwife appt: 29th June
Currently waiting for my IONA test results as 1 in 85 for Downs Syndrome
Will be finding out sex, but at this time I couldn't care less, just want it to be healthy.

Monkeypuzzle32 · 12/06/2017 17:47

thank you all re;scan!

Biker good news-phew!
Peachi82 that's hard to deal with, no one will expect you to be ok with it, just take your time x
Neoflex I cant believe they could tell that early, I wonder if they could secretly tell on mine? It'll be sweet to open it on your anniversary-so wait!

I asked for the nuchal (sp?) test-she said she couldn't see anything abnormal but they contact you by post after a blood test so hope that's normal and she didn't see anything.

ScotsLamb · 12/06/2017 18:19

Biker, Brenda and Monkey yay for good scans!

Battenburg fingers crossed for a good IONA result.

iPeach doesn't mater how prepared you are, the death of a close family member is heartbreaking. Take your time with work and grieving and good luck with your scan.

I'm still feeling quite dizzy today at work. Did BP measurement 10 minutes ago and it is 106 over 67. I'll do it again tomorrow and see what it is although my booking blood pressure was 90 over 60 so maybe not as normal as I thought! Still within normal.
"Morning" sickness is still knocking me every day and night. Having some beef hula hoops and Coke just now (ditched the diet juice as I feel I need the calories from sugar).
kind of like the idea of Mexican (enchiladas or fajitas) after chat earlier in thread. Also really want ribs after watching Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. Maybe this is the start of me dancing cooking again... please!!!

ScotsLamb · 12/06/2017 18:20

Oops fancying.

Neoflex · 12/06/2017 18:53

Peachi, I am sorry for your loss and hope your scan goes well.

Monkeypuzzle32, the doctor said he would only be able to tell depending on how the baby was positioned. in fact, it wasn't in the right place, so I had to jump around on the floor and then get back on the bed, and then the doctor maneuvered the baby with the ultrasound equipment. We're in Germany and had to pay for the nuchal translucency scan privately (about 300 euros) because it isnt covered by insurance. This was our 4th scan, and we had to visit a different doctor to our usual gynecologist. The equipment might be different. Our normal doctor said there would be no way for her to tell the sex. The images we got with this scan were also much better than the previous 3: I will try and share for comparison once I figure out how to snip the photos so my name isnt at the top

Monkeypuzzle32 · 12/06/2017 19:02

thats interesting Neoflex ! Maybe the equipment is more state of the art! I had to keep coughing to get the baby to change position which was easy as Ive just had a horrible cold!

ScotsLamb sounds awful, I am mainly eating carbs atm!

Carley27 · 12/06/2017 19:09

fishfingers glad you're feeling a bit better today, sounds like a horrible weekend!

Fingers crossed for good results Battenberg - did they give you any idea of how long results would take?

MontyPants · 12/06/2017 19:34

So sorry for your loss Peachi. I can't imagine how you feel, but remember you've got your little mini peach to look after and keep strong for 💐💐💐

Neoflex · 12/06/2017 19:37

Here are the different scans ive had: 5.4, 7.4, 11.4 and then 12 weeks.

The nuchal translucency scan had a much clearer image (facial features etc.) even though it was just 3 days later.

Is this normal? Perhaps the previous scans covered by my insurance are just in general lower quality.

Brens13 · 12/06/2017 19:57

Hi everyone. I need to read everyone's individual posts, just got back in from telling some family, but thank you everyone. Congrats all other scanners today.

peach I'm so sorry for your loss.

I will catch up with all the other posts soon. Trying to enjoy DH's excitement (and wine intake) at the moment 😂

Monkeypuzzle32 · 12/06/2017 20:07

Brens I don't know exactly what they are looking for-folds of the neck I was told for the nuchal translucency scan.

Miami81 · 12/06/2017 20:14

@Peachi82
So sorry for your loss. As others have said, take it easy and try to mind yourself.
Congratulations to all the great scans.
Ours is tomorrow, I am literally shitting a brick, so worried poor buddy won't be there. Last seen at 9+2 so feels like eons ago. Still bleeding mildly and slightly crampy so very worried.
