Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

Peachi I'm so sorry for your loss Sad xx
Will be thinking of you for the scan tomorrow.

feelingcalledlove · 12/06/2017 21:08

Didn't check Mumsnet for a week and now we're on thread 6?!!!

Peachi I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope your work are understanding and give you the time off you need.

Things are ok here, still have 8 days until the scan though (will be 12+6 then). Spend half my time terrified and half excited. Can't wait to get the scan done and just know either way what's going on...

Angielka · 12/06/2017 21:12

Peach so sorry. As others have said be kind to yourself and of course you won't be ok just yet.

Lovely scans ladies. Good luck to everyone with scans coming up - I have one on Wednesday. Looking forward to more lovely wriggling baby pics this week!

Neo I'd say your normal doc has different equipment - maybe the machine is older or something. My doc also gave indications if the sex at the 12 week scan - your envelope plan is lovely 😊 good luck with the willpower though!!

Lolabee · 13/06/2017 02:23

Lovely scan pictures ladies!

Hope the bloods come back with low risk results for everyone

peach even though not totally unexpected I'm sure it's never a pleasant rollercoaster of emotion. Sorry for your loss. Hope scan goes well today for you Flowers

Mrsbluebell17 · 13/06/2017 04:00

God luck to all those with scans coming up. I'm in the early wake up club again. Hmm

Argh sorry my post kept saying failed but it looks like it posted each time Blush

feelingcalledlove · 13/06/2017 06:44

(Potentially silly) question for people who've had 12 week scans already: In terms of screening, did they give you any indication of risk on the day e.g. the nuchal fold measurement? Or did you have to wait for everything? Trying to figure out what to expect! Thanks Smile

Oysterbabe · 13/06/2017 07:01

They'll tell you the NT measurement if you ask. Or you'll be able to see it on the screen like I did.

Beardy1 · 13/06/2017 07:24

Sorry I haven't been posting, dh and I are away on holiday.

feelingcalledlove my sonograpger told me the measurement at the scan so you can always ask when you see them. They are combined results so you definetly know more once you receive the blood test results as well.

peachi my thoughts are with you at the moment. Losing a parent is truly awful but you do get through it. I lost my mum over a year ago and time does heal - I know that isn't helpful right now. With regards to your grief and baby, grieve as you should. Babies are resilient and the bean will be fine so don't hold any of it in. Take as much time off as you need and get any help you need. When your ready I Strongly recommend seeing a bereavement counsellor through cruse (charity) or something similar and inform your mw when you can ( they can refer you to any services you need quickly). They will help you through this. I'm sending you the biggest hug possible. If you need to chat or anything please don't hesitate to pm me. Xxxx

Lixon · 13/06/2017 07:31

I'm so sorry for your loss peachi, it must be so difficult and make the pregnancy even more poignant/scan more terrifying. Thinking of you today.

Good luck to you as well Miami, it's so hard waiting between scans and not just assuming the worst when you have a history but I'm sure everything will look perfect.

I hope you both got some sleep.. x

Oysterbabe · 13/06/2017 07:45

I've dug out some work maternity clothes and I look really pregnant today. Work don't know yet. I might just see how long it takes before someone has the balls to ask.

MaryShelley1818 · 13/06/2017 07:52

Oh Peachi, I'm so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you 💐 Xx

I haven't been able to post on here all weekend, something was wrong with the mobile site on my phone!

Congratulations on all of the lovely scans...lovely baby-shaped babies everyone!

I look huge...ridiculously pregnant! I went back to work yesterday after being off all last week and someone asked why it looks like I've just been pumped up with a bicycle pump?! 😳 My friend in the office is 24wks pregnant and my bump is more obvious than hers! Lol!

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 13/06/2017 10:14

Good luck today, scan-peeps! X

Carley27 · 13/06/2017 11:01

MaryShelley - someone actually said that about looking 'pumped up'? Shock why on earth would you say that! Lovely that you have a bump though, I just look like I've put on a bit of timber Blush

Angielka my scan is tomorrow too! Are you morning or afternoon? I think I'm equally excited and anxious!

Good luck to those with scans today :)

More bloody stress...Harmony results came back inconclusive for gender after testing the 2nd vial of blood. Cue several hysterical phone calls to the company and the laboratory and the scientist there has agreed to do a redraw and retest free of charge. I'm terrified it indicates something is wrong even though the scientist reassured me that it's probably nothing and that the second vial of blood simply failed quality control due to containing less than 4% fetal dna.
So off to get that done in half an hour then another anxious wait for results. I don't know how much more worry I can take 😢

Oysterbabe · 13/06/2017 13:15

How frustrating Mary. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but I know I'd worry if it was me. This pregnancy business is so much stress.

biginjapan · 13/06/2017 13:21

Mary did you get the result for everything except the sex? My first vial was inconclusive for everything - so less than 4% fetal DNA. Second vial had 9% so I reckon they mishandled the sample. Either way they were very reassuring that it means absolutely nothing.

Carley27 · 13/06/2017 13:34

How annoying Mary - I'm sure it's nothing but I know it's hard not to worry. Hopefully todays bloods will give a result.

MaryShelley1818 · 13/06/2017 13:57

Thank you (yet again) for the reassuring words xx

Japan...all results came back low risk for the 3 Trisomies (6.2% DNA) from first vial. Then less than 4% in second and inconclusive gender. X

Bisquick · 13/06/2017 14:21

12 week scan all done. Looking good. Have been redated with an EDD of Christmas day (although most likely will be late November-early December still, depending on how she's doing).
Got to see her bouncing around which was lovely!
Good luck to everyone else having scans this week! Now I'm going to try to relax for a bit - off to the states for a week for my dad's 60th, and then off to Japan for a break with DH. Can't hardly wait! Grin

Bisquick · 13/06/2017 14:22

That sounds annoying Mary but clearly just a problem with the vial, rather than any other issue - hard not to worry I know but hopefully they'll be able to tell you the gender with today's bloods!

Miami81 · 13/06/2017 14:37

Bisquick
So so jealous of Japan trip. We went on our honeymoon for three weeks and absolutely loved everything about it!
12 week scan today. Dated 12+2 so due date is now Christmas Eve. I actually was a mess at the start of the scan. The lady was lovely. I think the nt measured 1.7mm but will check my notes, have to go to mw tomorrow for bloods.
Mary sorry for the stress, but good that they are seeing you again so quickly.

fishfingerSarnies · 13/06/2017 14:39

Scan went fine everything looks normal as far as she could see, feeling relieved. now edd is 20th of December but it will probably be a week or two before as it will be a section. I was enjoying my Christmas Eve due date it was an exciting talking point never mind means I will get a baby 4 days earlier so shouldn't complain.
We are staying team yellow but I think it's a girl. Fingers crossed.
