Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

Congratulations, biker!

I've not told work yet... And I don't really want to, even not really straight after the scan next Tuesday. I kind of have two employers, Uni, which is kind of relaxed and I think my Uni boss will take it easy (hopefully), so I'll tell him first. And then a company and I'm dreading the talk. Last week, a colleague of mine was ill and my line manager started bitching that he can't understand why someone with this kind of illness can't come into work (even though he had a doctor's certificate). So, I guess, I'll get our HR woman on board with me when telling him, so he stays in line. Not sure if this will help (because she might not be happy either), but that's all I can do.
Ideally I would want to keep it to myself until we've completed on the house (in case they make me redundant), but this would mean another month of not telling. Not sure if I can manage this. Maybe not with my growing square belly - why the hell is it square anyway?

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 08/06/2017 11:21

Thanks @Peachi82 😄

Square does sound odd! Do you mean square below the belly button or the whole midriff?

Peachi82 · 08/06/2017 11:24

Square below the belly button when you look from the side. It looks really odd, haha. But I'm sure it'll settle soon and will become more normal shaped. Hopefully.

Carley27 · 08/06/2017 11:28

Biker yes I seem to remember something about 15 weeks before due date being the cut off? However I have mutual friends with some colleagues so want to tell my boss in case he hears through other people. So I will probably need to pluck up the courage next week if all goes well at the scan!

Oh peachi I feel for you having to tell two bosses! That sounds like a good idea getting HR involved if your line manager is likely to not be very understanding. No idea why you would have a square belly though Grin

Peachi you've not been eating any funny bananas like zaber have you? Grin

Well it appears I might be pregnant! Baby measured 13+1 (how this works I have no idea as I thought 12+2) so a whopping 6 days forward to 13.12.17. Nuchal measurement 2.5 to 2.77 which stressed me out but they assured me was normal and have done further reading and is fine for gestation so feeling better. Should get results early next week. Any gender guessers fancy a go?

Congratulations biker and carlotta great news all round.

Zaberwocky · 08/06/2017 11:50

I'm destined to be THAT person who ate the dodgy banana Grin

I'm sure I've read something about square bellies before!

Carley27 · 08/06/2017 11:52

Congratulations Carlotta! I am predicting boy.

glastogal · 08/06/2017 12:01

Huge congratulations Carlotta - great scan pic Grin

And big hooray for another little boy - little boy biker!! This thread is destined to fill up with testosterone!!

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 08/06/2017 12:05

Thanks @glastogal & @Brens13 😄 super buzzing today!

@Peachi82 haha Does sound odd but I wouldn't worry about it - have seen all shapes (some VERY strange and unnatural looking ones!) and sizes and positions on my friends!

Good luck @Peachi82 and @Carley27 (and anyone else I've missed) with telling work.

@CarlottaJo Great scan! So pleased it went well 😄

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 08/06/2017 12:05

Bold fail... odd how it does that!

Zaberwocky · 08/06/2017 12:05

Oh Biker !!!

How did I miss that!? Congratulations Grin

Angielka · 08/06/2017 12:07

I'm probably having a girl and bracing myself for 'oh, are you disappointed?' Comments from DH's family this weekend since we gave two DDs and everyone seems to think life will only be complete with a son Hmm

Peachi82 · 08/06/2017 12:14

Maybe I've been eating too many starbursts??

Congratulation to another baby shaped baby!!

CarlottaJo · 08/06/2017 12:17

This one is maybe better for a nub ( I still can't see it and the sonographer wouldn't point it out as she said was a load of nonsense!)

Zaberwocky · 08/06/2017 12:28

Angielka the only response for that is the deathly serious mumsnet response ... 'Did you MEAN to be so rude?'

TootsyBella84 · 08/06/2017 12:40

Congratulations on the boy biker!
I hope the cyclizine works for you.

Congratulations on your scan Carlotta, we have the same due date now.
Our nuchal measurement was 2.3 which I thought seemed high compared to what everyone else has been saying but they said it's more high risk if over 3.5.

How long has it taken for everyone to hear back about the NHS combined tests? I can't remember from last time x

tuxedocat · 08/06/2017 12:47

tootsy I heard back just over a week. I had my scan on the Friday before bank holiday and had my letter the following Saturday

Mrsbluebell17 · 08/06/2017 12:56

Congrats on the boy news biker!
*
Carlotta* that's great news on your scan. Grin

Tootsy our NHS scan was a week ago today and we've not heard back yet about or screening results.

Zaberwocky · 08/06/2017 14:19

I am officially in the dog house Grin

I have informed DH that unless his mother gets rid of her bloody horrible nippy dog, she is not babysitting. Or is the baby going round there without me. Nor will our child ever be staying there.

Turns out this morning when my mum dropped a card round that it bit my parents dog ... again Hmm ...

I am of course the most unreasonable human being in the world Grin if they had the common sense to lock it out of the room it'd be fine. But they don't.

Lixon · 08/06/2017 14:38

Congratulations biker, nice to have some gender company - I'm slowly getting my head around having s boy and the havoc he'll cause 😀

Congratulations on your scan as well Carlotta, we're due date buddies too 🙂

That sounds rubbish re the dog Zaber, my sister' best friend had a massive falling out with her mum over the same issue (after her daughter got not seriously bitten!), took months for the mum to come round and agree to lock the dog out when there wasn't adult supervision for some reason?!

I'm just waiting at the hospital to see a consultant. I think it's mental health related but not entirely sure so have a range of genetics/other questions to try out too!! I'm so tired that I'll just go home and work from there later..

pauseplayrepeat · 08/06/2017 14:50

Welcome to the blue crew biker. Lixon I still can't get my head round it either, feels so odd saying 'he' and so strange to know already as we were team yellow for our first two children.

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 08/06/2017 15:30

Thanks everyone 😄 super excited though also slightly 'worried' that, despite having an inkling it was a boy, we have a dozen girls names on our list but only 1.5 boys names! 😂

NHS combo - mine took 3 days to get them over the phone (letter followed a few days later) but that's probably because I have a minor blood disorder which needs to be monitored and when they called me about it they said they so happened to have my combi results too.

Bisquick · 08/06/2017 16:26

Got our SAFE results back today and low risk all around. So relieved.
Also we're having a little girl. 💑

I'm truly thrilled the baby is doing well. Wrapping my head around a little girl.

Our stillborn child in January was a boy, and I spent so much time thinking and planning for a boy. DH thinks this is a good thing since now this baby will seem v different. I know nothing can replace my little angel and this baby is a much wanted blessing! Just wrapping my head around it y'know?
