Thread #6 for the chatty mums due in December (or thereabouts!).

As we move into the second trimester there will be more dating scans, gender reveals and burgeoning bumps - and hopefully a reduction in nausea!

Hmmm... dippy egg

biginjapan · 07/06/2017 19:38

Had the test last Wednesday. I'm not optimistic as I hear that second draws are often inconclusive too. Unfortunately multiple inconclusive tests can indicate a chromosomal abnormality.

MaryShelley1818 · 07/06/2017 20:07

Oh Japan ((hugs)) I'm sure that's extremely unlikely but understand how worried you must be. We're waiting for our NIPT results back too and it's so nerve wracking.
Fingers crossed they have enough in the second sample and you don't need a redraw xx

pauseplayrepeat · 07/06/2017 20:12

big hope the 2nd lot come back fine. Were you just 10wks when you had it done? We were warned it was quite common to be inconclusive if you have it at the early end of the timeframe. The waiting is awful though. Hugs.

zabe current food crushes are Mediterranean, so grilled halloumi, tzatziki, felafel, hummous. Oh and banana smooothies made with coconut frozen yoghurt. Want one now actually...

biginjapan · 07/06/2017 20:18

No, I was 11+5, but I do have a high bmi. Thanks for the support.

Lixon · 07/06/2017 20:26

Biginjapan so sorry to hear about your inconclusive results but as some extra reassurance the fetal medicine centre told me that happened in 5% of cases and so it's much more common than I realised. Hopefully the second round comes back with something.

Thinking of you waiting for results as well Bisquick, im not sure i have any great tips other than distraction as much as possible (and try and get some sleep, easier said than done!) but I'm thinking of you and keeping everything crossed x

Lovely scans royalsteph, Lapin and MaryShelley- so pleased for you all!

Angielka · 07/06/2017 20:43

Great news Mary and lapin what a relief** for you both!

Japan fingers crossed for you.

Sorry, bit late to the party but Peachi and bisquick my 2 DDs are trilingual - I only speak to them in English, DH only speaks to them in Polish and at school and in the world around it's French. They went through patches of mixing words up but now, at 6 and 4 it is just natural to them. I know other families here where the parents don't speak each other's language but speak their own to the kids. You'll find something that works Peachi

Been so hectic at work not been on here much but skimmed through - sorry to hear the anxiety and scares but loving the happy scans. I'm 14+4 now and sickness is behind me. Less exhaustion too, although far from glowing...!

Angielka · 07/06/2017 20:44

Woah... major bold fail there Blush

Zaberwocky · 07/06/2017 20:56

Is everyone going to manage to drag themselves out to vote tomorrow?

I'm incredibly annoyed I can't Angry I've just gotten round to changing my last name, and I got a lovely arsey letter claiming they had no record of my existence and I needed a letter from someone and to go into the office to prove my existence! Which is fine I guess.

But they sent the bloody letter after the cut off point.

Lillygolightly · 07/06/2017 20:57

Sorry I've been awol since my last posts, to recap;

Lilly age 35, 13+6 with DC3, team yellow
Nhs scan date 16/06 and still ages away ☹️

It's been lovely seeing everyone else's scan pics and I'm so glad all was well for Mary and Lapin. I'm looking forward to being able to add my own scan pic, given I'll be 15+1 by the time I have it I wonder if it will be easier to guess the gender? 🤔

I'm still feeling sick now and again but I'm mostly tired like all the time, I've had 3 naps today 3!!! And I'm still knackered! Can't wait to feel more energetic soon I hope.

Zaberwocky · 07/06/2017 20:58

Lilly it's only 7 days Grin we'll try to help you make it fly by!

Lillygolightly · 07/06/2017 20:58

Zaber I've got a similar prob with regards to voting after moving house.

Lillygolightly · 07/06/2017 21:00

Haha Zaber I know, I've just waited so long it feels like it's dragging. Roll on the 26th!!!

Lillygolightly · 07/06/2017 21:00

Lol nooooo!!! Not the 26th 😣 The 16th...phew.

CarlottaJo · 07/06/2017 21:02

@Zaberwocky bless you that's so annoying, I'll be voting with OH pre scan, luckily the polling station is literally a minute from our house. Very interested to see what happens, don't think it will be as clear cut as once thought!

ScotsLamb · 07/06/2017 21:17

So I've managed to eat at 9am, 11am 12pm, 3pm, 5pm and 7.30pm!!! This is a miracle. My usual food consumption has been between 10am and 3pm as I can't face anything outwith those times. Usually dinner is lots of milk as I can stomach that but today I had chicken Caesar salad. Oh. I've just realised it was rotisserie chicken!! Am I allowed that? Oh. Now lying in the bath in a hotel while away with work. Wish I was home getting into my own bed.
That sounds such a miserable post yet I'm feeling the best I have in weeks.
Lovely new scans and so pleased there has been some good news from the worry bench.
Hope your second lot come back with good news Japan

CarlottaJo · 07/06/2017 21:19

I've had to bring myself to bed I'm so stressed about scan in morning, also have horrific heartburn xx

MontyPants · 07/06/2017 21:27

Scots please tell me you can eat rotisserie chicken. I eat loads of it. I haven't seen anywhere that says you can't. I also like the chicken nuggets that the supermarkets do in the same section as the rotisserie. They're soooo naughty but so good.
I had jerk chicken and rice earlier, with a can of ginger beer. Made me feel like I was on holiday somewhere hot.
I like food talk. Hopefully it might help distract you Carlotta. Good luck for tomorrow 💐

MotherofUnicorns · 07/06/2017 21:33

Hi everyone
placemarking and catching up.....
My EDD is 13th Dec so i am 13weeks today apparently.
This is baby number 3, i have 2 daughters aged 4 and 6.
Can't wait to find out the sex, i think we'll go for a private scan in 2 or 3 weeks. The girls are DESPERATE to know so i'll take them with us.
My lovely colleague - older Indian lady - has made me delicious veg curry which i have wolfed down tonight. Hopefully she'll keep it up!! She said in her culture everyone cooks for you when you're pregnant. Amazing.
x

Zaberwocky · 07/06/2017 21:33

Lilly that happended to me last time too! I'd just moved and it caused endless confusion Hmm took months to sort out in the end.

I DO have a sneaking suspicion everyone will philander their vote and vote Green Grin just because ...

Zaberwocky · 07/06/2017 21:34

Mother so what you're saying is, in my new job I need to befriend a nice Indian lady and hope she takes pity on me Grin ?

Bisquick · 07/06/2017 21:49

Speaking of nice Indian ladies who cook you lovely things, my mum is in town. It is true that everyone cooks for you when you're pregnant. I've had friends offer to drop off food, visiting parents and in laws of friends offer to stock my freezer, and so on :) for now my mum is pampering me by cooking all my childhood favourites and I've done nothing other than do my best impression of a lazy teenager all week!

DH and I voted last week by postal ballot. We had chaos at our polling station during the Brexit vote so didn't want to risk having to queue up for ages again.

Trying to distract myself by planning our July holiday.

Sorry your results were inconclusive japan hopefully the second lot will work.

MontyPants · 07/06/2017 21:53

Mother yes my colleague does this and he's also of Asian descent. It doesn't seem to be a very European thing (which is a shame) so I'm not used to it. Can anyone else confirm or is this just a co-incidence?
We should all definitely try to start a trend once we are all back from maternity leave and someone else is preggers. I don't think you should have to cook at all during pregnancy!

Bisquick · 07/06/2017 22:16

Just as an aside, before everyone runs off to adopt an Asian aunt, I also have lots of well-meaning relatives who ask why I'm still working and when I plan to quit my job, and before we started TTC a lot of relatives who would ask why we didn't have kids yet, and tell me that I should start TTC soon etc. So, y'know, people are a lot more in your business in more ways than one when you're part of a big Asian family.

MontyPants · 07/06/2017 22:22

Ah Bisquick sounds like some intense questioning there! Yikes! I just want the food
