very strange about the billy goats gruff! The trip trapping line was always the scary one!

liath · 19/03/2007 08:41

Morning!
Hope everyone had a good weekend and sorry to hear some DHs were found wanting in the Mother's Day department.

Got a card & a lie in here and DH did all the little DIY jobs that had been bugging me, so a gold star to him.

Off to the docs later to pick up my iron prescription but just realised I haven't sent off the form to get free prescriptions. Surely they'll just look at the vast bump and not charge me? Hope it makes me feel less knakered.

MIABT - did you have a good weekend away?

Eddas · 19/03/2007 08:43

Told no to tap water how odd. Will pop off to read that!!

Tis odd re the book isn't it. Shall i ask if it's usual to change the stories!!!

I've got my annual staff review on thursday too so i'll find out what massive payrise i'm in for next year and if they've given me a bonus! My boss wrote to me end of last week to say that reviews were in week beginning 26 March and if i wan't planning to be there that week then he could change mine. I was just like, hmm one week before due date, so no i'm not bloody coming in!!!

liath · 19/03/2007 08:50

Do you reckon that the whole fruit shoot thing is a MN-only phenomenon? It seems to really get people going.

Katy44 · 19/03/2007 08:51

liath, yes, the way I understood it was that you had to give proof you were pregnant - the card will do, or a great big bump is pretty good proof as well! At worst you can claim it back.

Katy44 · 19/03/2007 08:52

Yes, definitely, I'd not even heard of them before. Now I see them in the supermarket some times, but if I didn't know better they look just like fruit juice in a small bottle!

Katy44 · 19/03/2007 08:53

Eddas - yes, ask after they've given you your money back

Katy44 · 19/03/2007 08:54

retelling of the 3 billy goats story

Emmymummy · 19/03/2007 09:26

Morning. that so many DHs had forgotten Mothers Day. How much reminding do they need? There is no excuse - all I can suggest is that those who had rubbish days studiously forget Fathers Day in a big way (pack yourself off to a health farm that day for example, or even better, arrange another MN meet-up without the DCs!). That'll teach them.

Had a nice day here - Em had made me a really sweet card at school and had written inside it very competently! Always makes me smile to see how her handwriting is coming on! She'd also drawn a picture of me (looking very large) inside the card DH had bought - she said I was only so big as I have a baby in my tummy - phew. Hopefully next year it will show my usual sylph-like figure .

Did end up cooking lunch for 7 of us - bil, sil, mil & DN came over in the end (sil still mega-stressed out, looks ill, has lost loads of weight), did a roast but it was fine as DH (bless him) did all the clearing up afterwards. After bil & sil had left, mil told me that sil had been a complete cow to her the night before, so I am now the lovely glowing, helpful, appreciative dil, ha hahahaaaa [evil grin emoticon].

Better get moving, have my final an class at 10am and need to get ready. See you all later.

eca · 19/03/2007 09:38

Morning! Hopefully I've started off spanish father's day in better style than some of your dhs did mother's day!! Got up early and brought him the laptop in bed (to read his online paper) followed by coffee and some crumpets with jam and butter which he loves (can only get them in the english supermarket at a ridiculous price). Gave him his card and he was really pleased, and surprised.

Haven't got him a present but he needs the last book of the Dark Materials trilogy so will pick it up on the way home for him. Had ordered a book for him to read to the baby (spanish translated version of 'Guess How Much I Love You') but it hasn't arrived yet

Am feeling like a very good wife at the moment..

weeonion · 19/03/2007 10:01

eca - hoe you made it in time without too big a rush. are you out doing detached work this work in teh cold - thermals on??

hope you are all having a lovely one

nuttygirl · 19/03/2007 10:14

Wow...haven't been on this weekend and there's an entire thread I've missed out on. Thought I'd better post now and then catch up!!!

Planted some bulbs/seeds/plants in tubs on Sat but will be v surprised if they've survived the battering of yesterday's weather...some sunshine, some snow, some hailstones...WTF?

Oh and grrr to MIL. DH rang her yesterday (cos it was mother's day). She told him she'd posted my b'day card (b'day is on Saturday) but hasn't sent anything cos "she didn't know what to get". Had she asked my DH if there was anything I wanted - NO. BUT then she goes on to say she'll sort something out when they come to visit after the baby is born (so prob 6-8 weeks after my b'day) and she was wondering if I might like some large garden tubs. ERR...NO...I don't know how to garden (just stick things in and hope they live!!!), I've just bought some tubs and MOST IMPORTANTLY I'm gonna have a newborn baby so I doubt gardening is gonna be very high on my priorities. When DH told her we'd just bought some she replied "well maybe she'd like something else for the garden" WTF... maybe I'd like something for me...like bubble bath, cookery books, candles, chocolate, clothes, gift vouchers...and she can't think of ONE thing i might want. ARGH.

Katy44 · 19/03/2007 10:19

Morning nuttygirl.
at your MIL - maybe she thinks you're giving birth to a tree rather than a baby!

CaptainDippy · 19/03/2007 10:21

Hello - off for drs appt in a mo so can only be quick. Think I have an ear infection - driving me nuts - grrrrr!

WaspElly - Soooooo to hear about the complete crapness of your DH yesterday. [[[hugs]]] He makes my DH's simple 'forgetting' sound ok - You poor thing - Revenge on Father's Day BIG TIME, me thinks!!

Liath - you'll be fine to get your free prescription with your HUGE Bump, don't you worry! Watch out for the black poo though - it is scary!!

I've cut the palm of my hand quite deeply and it really stings. Ow!

Hopy ou all have excellent days. Have a few friends and their LOs coming over this a/n - mayhem ensues!!

My word ladies still no sign of any babies

Had the weekend off as Dh was plastering my office so i couldn't get to the computer, thought I would come back on and hear the sound of new babies, but no we are all still holding on to them!

I have been feeling very sorry for myself these past couple of days, the rash on my tum has atken over it is sooooooooooooo itchie and sore, no matter what I put on it I just doesn't stop irratating me.

I haven't slept for 3 nights now, DH has moved out of the bedroom cause I am keeping him awake (poor love)
I went on a long walk with my mum yesterday to try and give the DT's the hint to come out, but apparently they didn't get the idea, so today I am going to tesco's to do my weekly shop, to see if that won't budge them.

I really don't think I can last up until 38 weeeks, only being 5ft3 and a half this pg is pushing my body to the limits, I was not built to carry 2!

Anyway moan over, for now hope you all had a good weekend and those who are already mummies got pampered yesterday.

Katy44 · 19/03/2007 10:44

What is the end of the world one? I've tried all 4 options, as well as clicking everywhere else I can think of? Do you not click at all and just let it time out?

Katy44 · 19/03/2007 10:47

1b3 - sounds as though they like it in there unfortunately
Know what you mean about logging on after some time away - every time I haven't been on for 24 hours (not common these days) I expect to come back and find out someone has had a baby!
My money's on WCL, although I don't think mammyjo would be a bad bet either!

1becomes3 · 19/03/2007 10:54

If I get my way and do tesco shopping tonight and then force myself on to to DH for some loving then I reckon I could be in with a chance.

Unfortunatly my DH is not ready for the DT's to come out yet so will not come anywhere near me, I just hope he takes pitty on me soon, not just for his magic sperm but the fact is i have been gagging for it for weeks now.

Katy44 · 19/03/2007 10:58

Tell him the sex starting labour thing is just an old wives tale.

geordiemacminx · 19/03/2007 11:02

morning ladies - just thought I would pop in and say hi now I have caught up and are on line!!!

Lovely day up here, should really be getting on with jobs, having the laptop downstairs is just too handy!!!

Katy - was in vennels last week - stilton scone and rasberry meringue for me!! Have to say that I was really disappointed with durham - havent been for ages -loads of shops have closed down which is a real shame!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 19/03/2007 11:09

Bloody hell ladies, how many posts???

Morning one and all.

Well, today is my first official day of mat leave, and I have to say it feels great!
Am getting organised and getting birthday cards and presents for those with a birthday over the course of the next few months! I did this last time around, as I knew getting to the shops with a newborn would be a bit of a faff. Did try to go to Mothercare, as I am finding I have grown out of some of my mat trousers and still have 6 weeks to go. However, the motorway was at a standstill, so I came home again and have eaten a load of flapjack instead - no wonder my mat trousers don't fit any more!!

Hope all those with docs appointments are ok, and 1b3, have you tried calamine lotion for your tum?
Mine is pretty itchy, but no rash. I think for me it is just the skin stretching

Waspelly, I think there would have been a murder here if dh had been so crap. You must be very patient that's all I can say!

Right, better head, as stuff to do. Can't really sit here all day!!

1becomes3 · 19/03/2007 11:21

I thought I would just share these images of the more "glamours" side of being pg

look away if easily offended

owww

Yes that is my tum and those red lines are no longer strech marks they are in fact blisters of fluid, that are very itchie and sore and spreading as I can't strech any more.

Hope that didn't put anyone off their food.

1becomes3 · 19/03/2007 11:23

Sorry SOSPL x posted then must be great to finally be on mat leave.

Katy44 · 19/03/2007 11:27

Oh 1b3 that sounds painful! (have to say my stretchmarks rival yours though in the looks department, although obviously my bump is smaller)
