@Amd724 how are you getting along? I've had my GTT today and waiting on the results. Had it because I've got PCOS but don't fit into any of the other risk factors. I was being nosey though and reading my notes over the phlebotomist's shoulder and saw that my fasting result with 5.2, which google tells me is a bit high.

Do you know what your numbers were?

Amd724 · 10/08/2017 16:12

@Littlelouse I'm doing better. I had my GD clinic today and the midwife said I was doing well managing my diet and that I have a scan next week at 28 weeks. My numbers are in my notes. I was 4.8 fasting and 8.1 2 hours after the glucose. My fasting was well under, but my 2 hour test was over a bit.

One of my best friends has just shared this top mum tip with me - buy your baby essentials from boots, you get extra boots points which you can then spend on yourself as you deserve them.

Topsyloulou · 10/08/2017 21:09

@theotherendofthesockportal make sure you sign up for the Boots parenting club first as you then get 10 points per £1 on baby / maternity items. When we bought DS' ridiculously expensive car seat from points I was in points heaven & in kept me going in make up for ages! The Boots baby event starts this week too, think it's Saturday.

Littlelouse · 10/08/2017 21:47

@Amd724 I'm glad you are. It must be a hell of a lot to get your head around. What were you told the tolerances were for the test. I think they vary depending on where you are in the country.

28+2 today and off swimming!

Seeing my mum later and going to have to tell/ ask her to stop calling me fat, it's really upsetting me :-/

theotherendofthesockportal · 11/08/2017 09:30

Lovely bump @lydiangel83! You have inspired me to go swimming now. I have a maternity costume.

I'm on bed rest today due to a stinking cold, but will go swimming once I am better.

lydiangel83 · 11/08/2017 09:59

Ah thanks @theotherendofthesockportal :) it does feel good to get weightless and I reckon babies must like it too. Belly ached a bit today I think due to position?

Take it easy and get better soon x

izzibee29 · 11/08/2017 18:24

@lydiangel83 that's not fair, defo let her know how you feel

butterybollocks · 12/08/2017 15:47

How is everyone this weekend?

We have finally had new windows fitted this week and carpets coming on Fri, so DH is frantically trying to get DD's new room painted before then! Once she has moved, we can start planning the baby's room.

I'm starting to get uncomfortable at night and not sleeping properly, so I'm having a lazy day with DD who is super tired after a few days with grandparents.

Lydia - your mum is rude and your bump looks lovely.

izzibee29 · 13/08/2017 16:54

@butterybollocks hello! Weekend is going well, have been assisting DH in prepping all the woodwork and walks in the hall/ landing for a paint job plus we had the nursery furniture from ikea delivered and have assembled it too.

Has felt proactive but I hope I haven't done too much and will find Monday exhausting- still finding it hard to pace myself properly.

How's everyone else been?

Zampa · 13/08/2017 21:25

Are you all exhausted or full of beans?

I'm not sure if I'm still tired thanks to my cold/chest infection or if this is it until baby arrives. If I don't recover my energy levels, I'll have no choice but to start my maternity leave earlier than I'd like.

lydiangel83 · 13/08/2017 21:31

Spent wkend with family, my mum has gone from saying I'm fat all over to wanting to feed me up so have eaten my body weight in cake and chocolate! Met my cousins new baby who was gorgeous and am now shattered and off to bed! Night all! Ps - energy levels definitely lower at 28 wks xx

Hazandduck · 14/08/2017 04:39

My energy levels feel like they are declining too.

Ah @lydia glad your mum has seen the light as you are definitely not fat all over! Bump looks perfect :)

Me and OH have been running ourselves ragged as we are getting married bank holiday weekend, I painted these tables today for our little bar reception drinks area! But it feels like it is finally coming together...We both can't wait to have our weekends back from making/doing stuff! And then we can focus on...baby prep yay!

lydiangel83 · 14/08/2017 07:37

@Hazandduck oh wow love the tables! I hope you get some time to relax and pamper yourself before wedding.

So fed up of work, 6 working weeks left (7 in total) from today and I cannot wait!

Hazandduck · 14/08/2017 08:08

Thanks @Lydia. It is amazing to see how much has been done since we started working on it last summer. It was just all brambles that came over my head and my OH, dad, FIL and brother have between them made these beautiful lawns and pathways and built lots of tables and bars, think we will all be a little relieved when it's finally wedding day haha.

I finish work 20th of October and feel exactly the same! Can't wait to get out of the hellhole 😣

theotherendofthesockportal · 14/08/2017 08:11

@Hazandduck your tables look awesome.

26 weeks here and I feel like I have been hit by a bus, I'm lucky to be getting 3 hours of broken sleep each night. I have a cold 🤧 and I think the baby has broken my spine. I feel exceptionally sorry for myself.

I'm counting down down my time at work - 6 weeks to go! Then hopefully a bit of rest!

Fingers crossed for a good week for all of us.

Topsyloulou · 14/08/2017 08:16

@Hazandduck the tables looks fab. I'd love to be creative & be able to things like that. I have neither the vision or the skill!

I've had a horrendous cough for over 2 weeks now. Dr said it's a virus & could hang round another few weeks. I haven't felt ill with it thankfully but the coughing is really wearing me down now & definitely impacting my energy levels. I had hardly any sleep last night from coughing. I'm off work this week with DS so although I don't have to get up early & go to work he'll want me to take him out & play with him etc which I really don't have the energy for right now. Doesn't help that DP has been working away since Tuesday including all weekend & not back until Wednesday at the earliest. If I could just stop coughing I'm sure I'd have more energy.

I've still got 9 weeks at work. I've got about a weeks holiday left so going to do some shorter weeks & do more working from home days but if gets too much then I'll go earlier. We're trying to get someone in from beginning of October to cover my mat leave so we can do a decent handover.

Hazandduck · 14/08/2017 08:22

Ah thank you @sock and @topsy.

How rubbish you've both been struck by summer colds! I hope you both feel better soon, summertime is meant to be a snot free time (unless you have hay fever like me lol.) x

Hazandduck · 14/08/2017 08:34

Has anyone else noticed the kicks have moved much higher up now? Feels like it's in my ribs today!

lydiangel83 · 14/08/2017 12:41

Think I may have just had my first Brixton hicks contraction. Sharp pain in side that came and went quite quickly. Anyone else had this?

theotherendofthesockportal · 14/08/2017 13:10

@Hazandduck I've only ever felt kicks low down. My last two scans have shown baby in the breech position. My husband was born breech, and my mothers instinct tells me that this baby has no intention of turning.

@lydiangel83 no Brixton Hicks for me. I'm a bit nervous of getting them tbh! Maybe you are getting them as you are the earliest out of our group?

lydiangel83 · 14/08/2017 14:13

@theotherendofthesockportal maybe I will keep you updated! I did have liquorice tea earlier now wondering if it is in the list of teas you shouldn't drink!?

My babber has also been in breach last 2 midwife appts but I am expecting / hoping he/ she will shift about in time. I would have thought they change position every time they wriggle about?!

GingerHanna · 14/08/2017 16:30

Mine only kicks me right down into my pelvis... I'm not sure if he's breech or if it's the myoma. Got a growth scan a week Friday so will know more then.

@Hazarduck I also finish on the 20 October! Four weeks before due date (latest I can work until by Dutch law). I think you're due the same day as me though right? 17 November?
