By the way, on the topic of shopping: Mothercare are selling Grobags half price in their sale if anyone is interested!

Hazandduck · 29/07/2017 15:16

Currently helping my sister host her little girl's 4th birthday party...it's hell!! Do I have to do this when I'm a mother?! Awkward small talk and noisy children gah x

Topsyloulou · 29/07/2017 15:38

I've just got back from taking DS to his swimming lesson. It was so nice to be in the water even if I didn't get a chance to swim. Going to try & get one swim in a week if I can.

DP & FiL have been cleared out the room baby is going into today & FiL is going to paint it this week so we can start putting all the baby things in there rather than spread round the house as they are now. I can then work out what I still need to buy in terms of clothes & blankets.

MonkeyPoozzled76 · 30/07/2017 17:46

Thanks for the welcome all...I've tried to find the spread sheet but can't!
An interesting day here, I've spent all day in MAU. I've had niggly abdo pain for the last couple of days but last night it really ramped up and I didn't sleep at all. Turns out one of my fiberiods has decided now is the time to start degenerating....it bloody hurts! @Gingerhanna I think I have the same as you've had looking back through the thread. Mines not that bad yet as have been sent home with paracetamol for now. MAU were lovely and I'm so relieved all is ok with baby. Best bit was getting a good listen to his heartbeat again. Just got to try and get some rest now.

Excersie is a bit lack luster here, I'm loving the yoga and I trying to swim a couple of times a week but don't seem to be getting round to it as often as I should.

lydiangel83 · 30/07/2017 19:43

@Hazandduck surely all non-pregnant adults in attendance just drink through something like that!? I can't imagine enjoying it tho maybe different if it's your own??

Hazandduck · 30/07/2017 22:19

My OH definitely was on the beer 😂 Kids are just drawn to him and were hanging off him poor thing lol.
Yeah it was crazy, obviously lovely seeing my little niece having fun with all her friends (getting soaked on a bouncy castle!) but bloody draining and absolute chaos. I said to OH the parties can be your duty when little one comes along! xx

For those thinking of getting some reusable wipes, if you follow this link Cheeky Wipes will give you 15% off orders over 40GBP.

(Full disclaimer: I also get a five quid referral bonus)

@MonkeyPoozzled76: good luck with the degeneration, it can get very bad so don't hesitate to call your MAU for help if it gets worse.

Also, if you look at the top of the thread, for each page, the first post of the thread is repeated. Embedded in the text is a link to the spreadsheet, where I say 'don't forget to keep the list updated' - the list is the linked text.

Hi,

The scan went well (the placenta has moved to 1.97cm so pretty much out of any worry zone) but to be honest really wasn't necessary - it cost me >$300 to be told something they couldn't do anything about and they could also check at the next scan at 30something weeks.
It was nice to see the baby but given that he's taken up kickboxing I'm more than aware he's in there Shock

We also lost another house. Put in the highest bid but they took the offer from an 85 year old as she was putting $100k cash down. Ended up spending most of the weekend moaping around but feeling better today. Looking at more houses this evening.

Was all ready to call John Lewis to see if I could get a cot bed shipped but after Saturday's news I've switched off again from all furniture related buying.
I'm starting to get questions about baby registries and colours for the baby's room...he doesn't even have a room. At this rate the baby will be sleeping in a drawer like Carol's from the Britas Empire! Confused

Hi all. I wonder have any of you experienced depressive feelings within pregnancy and if so what helped and supported You? There is an on going issue at home in which I'm not supported and dh just tells me to get on with it. Am waking up 2/3 in the morning not being able to go to sleep again, crying and unable to stop my thoughts. I'm exhausted and crying during the day now because it's so bad. Any help would be wonderful. I hope you are all well x

theotherendofthesockportal · 31/07/2017 17:02

@Motherhippy16 i am sorry to hear you are feeling down. You aren't alone, I have pregnancy quite a lovely time. I urge you to call your midwife and be very honest about how you are feeling. I've had to do this as I have very high anxiety.

I was referred to a mental health midwife who has been a huge support. Don't feel ashamed and please don't feel alone. Thinking of you 💐

Is anyone else ravenously hungry? I'm starving constantly and trying to fill the gap with fruit when all I dream about is chocolate and biscuits

JCleRoux · 31/07/2017 20:31

Hi all

It's been a while since I was last on here. Can't remember if I mentioned this or not but had my scan and everything is all well. Was a little tempted to ask if it's a boy or girl but glad I didn't.

Been away for a solo trip to Portugal and had the most amazing time. I have a little bit of a bump and everywhere I went I jumped queues and people gave up seats for me. Felt a little spoilt! I ate my body weight in custard tarts while away so will have to be good from now on.

I am so sorry you are feeling depressed @Motherhippy16. Please call your midwife and tell her how you feel. There's usually free counselling offered. I've been seeing a therapist for a while now (started because of recurrent miscarriages) am still seeing her and it's helped loads.

@stuckinny how annoying! So sorry the house fell through. I can imagine you want to get started getting ready for the baby but just can't. Glad your scan went well!

Hope everyone is ok Smile

JCleRoux · 31/07/2017 20:51

What's everyone using for stretch marks? I didn't have any with DS and now I'm not sure if I am seeing things or not but I am suddenly so worried. Just about finished a small bottle of bio-oil in two weeks. Blush

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 31/07/2017 22:15

Bio oil and palmers stretch mark lotion for me and no sign of any yet

izzibee29 · 01/08/2017 05:36

I made up 3 pots from a Pinterest recipe, so far I've only just started on my second pot and no stretch marks have appeared. Ingredients were shea butter, apricot oil and vitamin e oil. It's quite thick to put on but smells yummy.

lydiangel83 · 01/08/2017 06:59

Bio oil and no sign of any yet here. Thread/ spider veins getting terrible on legs tho and no prevention / cure for that :(

butterybollocks · 01/08/2017 14:57

Hello everyone! I am back from hols and have just about caught up, hope everyone is doing OK.

Had a midwife appt this morning - usual midwife went awol and a replacement had to be found so I had to wait for an hour and a half in a hot waiting room. When I did get in there she found a trace of protein in my wee and then checked my blood pressure and it was high, so they're sending my wee away for tests Sad I might have cried a bit - just seems like nothing is going as it should Sad She Re checked my blood pressure using a manual monitor and it was fine so she's said it could just be that I don't get on with the electric one and told me to ask the midwives not to use that on me in future.
Bump measures spot on and we heard a lovely strong heartbeat.

It was quite stressful and I have to go back next week. Have declined a glucose tolerance test as I just can't face more tests at the moment.

lydiangel83 · 01/08/2017 21:20

Aww @butterybollocks sorry to hear that and fingers crossed all ok xx

moofaced · 01/08/2017 21:59

Hi all, nearly 25 weeks and really struggling to sleep. Have taken such a sore back quite low down (tailbone). Sore to sit and get achey hips when I lie on my sides. Any advice? Confused

theotherendofthesockportal · 01/08/2017 22:31

@moofaced I haven't got any solutions to the lack of sleep and pain, but wanted to say I understand exactly where you are coming from.

I'm 24+4 my back hurts especially at the bottom. Plus my tummy feels heavy! And I haven't slept properly for months. My fit bit tells me I sleep around 3-4 hours of sleep each night and that's is interrupted!

I feel that I will never sleep again, especially as everyone tells me that pregnancy is nothing compared to when baby is here! Eek!

For this reason I am glad I'm on maternity leave from 33 weeks. At least I can sit at home and take life at a slower pace.

Is anyone else getting headaches? I'm trying to limit the amount of paracetamol I take - I know it's safe, but don't want to take it every day. My other symptom is constant hunger!

lydiangel83 · 02/08/2017 01:54

Sorry @moofaced no tips but feeling your pain :-/ also sore tail bone and lower back as well as sore mid upper back from previous injuries :-/ and don't sleep well at the best of times let alone whilst hormones / baby going haywire!

lydiangel83 · 02/08/2017 01:54

Ps am 27 wks today

butterybollocks · 02/08/2017 08:44

I slept much better last time once baby arrived than I did in late pregnancy - and she was by no means a good sleeper! If anyone tells you to "sleep while you can" it's actually perfectly acceptable to punch them in the face.

Sock, I have been getting lots of headaches although not so many in the last few weeks. I was worried about taking paracetamol too but then got a chest infection and had to take the maximum dose for a week on the doctor's orders! I find the best thing is to take a couple of paracetamol as soon as the headache starts rather than waiting to see if it goes - sometimes I only need that one dose then.

lydiangel83 · 02/08/2017 09:55

Is anyone else getting terrible spider / broken / thread veins? My legs are a terrible mess!

GingerHanna · 02/08/2017 10:03

My gynie told me codine is okay in pregnancy, so therefore co-codamol is acceptable. Might be worth checking out?

No spider veins yet but my enormous boobs (gone from 30G to 32H already) look like they have a road network of blue veins all over them! Not attractive.

Just found a big bottle of bio-oil at the back of the cupboard. Not sure anything actually prevents stretch marks but I've got it so might as well use it.

LO was really quiet yesterday so assumed he'd moved and was kicking the myoma. He did a big roll again last night and he's back to his normal patterns again today which is reassuring and making me smile at work.

Midwife tonight - should find out for sure if my hopes of a home birth are out of the window. 99.99% sure they are but need to hear it confirmed. If so then I'll be changing hospital to a more midwife led and less intervention one. It's further away from home but worth the travel. Hoping the midwife can do my 28 week growth scan also rather than going into the hospital for it. Cannot see why not and will confirm tonight. Seems like I'll be having lots of chances to see LO as need a scan at 32 weeks to check on low lying placenta!
