We've had a baby name from the very beginning after my grandfather but the worry is he won't look like that when he arrives!
I'm getting pains up my bum which I can only assume are piles too, cream doesn't seem to make a difference but I'm persevering!!
Luckily we got some hand me down bits from friends but apart from that we've done nothing either. As it's our first we need to gut the spare room which conveniently has all my things in before we can start!
The sporadic kicking which seems to change each day is worrying me as some days he kicks lots for a couple of hours and then some days barely anything but I've spoken to the midwife and apparently until 28 weeks, as long as you feel something a day is fine and it can be lighter due to position.
Turned the monumental 24 weeks yesterday which is exciting as it means he viable Smile

theotherendofthesockportal · 20/07/2017 08:57

Good luck for today @izzibee29

Zampa · 20/07/2017 09:35

I have antibiotics! Going back to bed now where I intend to watch trashy TV and not be a martyr to work!

@SarahS17 It's reassuring to hear that about feeling movements. 22 weeks today and keep on getting "the fear" if I've not felt anything for several hours.

lydiangel83 · 20/07/2017 09:51

Well done @Zampa - wishing you a speedy recovery

izzibee29 · 20/07/2017 10:07

Thank you ladies - will update you later on how it went

GingerHanna · 20/07/2017 10:50

Good luck Izzi and well done Sarah and Zampa

I get random little kicks throughout the day but yesterday was very quiet. However this morning he has been unusually active which I'm putting down to a change in position.

I've started to track on the Kicks Count app, just to get used to using it more than anything else. 23 weeks tomorrow so got a while until I should be expecting patterns.

That's good @zampa. Hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

My pregnant brain is driving me crazy! I'm trying to pack for holiday and keep putting stuff down in weird places and forgetting where I've put it.

JCleRoux · 20/07/2017 11:58

Good luck @izzibee29!

Glad you're in bed @Zampa. Hope you feel better soon.

theotherendofthesockportal · 20/07/2017 12:12

Get well soon @Zampa

lydiangel83 · 20/07/2017 12:29

I'm feeling ropey heading home from work soon. @GingerHanna I'm not sure I would remember to update an app but have been told by midwife to pay more attention so now maybe I should.

GingerHanna · 20/07/2017 13:30

@lydiangel83 I was worried also about remembering to update which is why I've started early so I create the habit. It's really easy with the Kicks Count app as you just touch the screen for each session, not for each individual kick, which is easier. It's about activity patterns as opposed to numbers of kicks, which makes sense.

@SarahS17 the sporadic kicking could be to do with positioning. I've noticed it too. You should try Belly Mapping, it'll give you an idea of which way the baby is laying according to the strength of movements etc.

I also learnt some interesting information about left side sleeping. Turns out you don't need to be completely on your left. As long as your right side is raised slightly it's enough to 'move' the bump releasing pressure on the vein.
I, on the other hand, have been sleeping more and more almost on my front. It seems to be the only way I can get comfy.

butterybollocks · 20/07/2017 16:49

@stuckinny I'm a front sleeper too, I've found that wedging a full length body pillow half under me is really comfy and stops me from rolling completely on to my front.

Went to the pharmacy today to ask about insect repellent. Pharmacist didn't really have a clue! Went to holland and Barrett and they were super helpful. I got something called incognito from there (although annoyingly I did find it cheaper in sainos later!), and got tea tree oil for bites - they said to just dilute this with any cooking oil etc if my 5 yo gets any bites.

So I am off to France first thing tomorrow - may not get online much so hope everyone stays well over the next few weeks, look after yourselves :)

theotherendofthesockportal · 20/07/2017 18:14

I bought a bracelet to help me count the kicks. I bought it off the count the kicks website: www.kickscount.org.uk/product/kick-counter-wristband/

I am a bit of a technophobe so don't have an app.

Bearest17 · 21/07/2017 14:22

Finally had my 20 week scan - it's a boy! DD isn't too sure yet about having a brother but I'm sure she'll be fine.

lydiangel83 · 21/07/2017 14:34

Congrats @Bearest17 :) I'm home in bed feeling awful with cold fever headache. Grateful this is my first and I don't have anyone else to look after today!

NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown · 21/07/2017 14:53

Congratulations Bearest! Hope you feel better soon Lydia.
DH has broken his leg and cleaner has pleurisy so I'm having a bit of a frantic week. Can't wait for the weekend!

stuckinny · 21/07/2017 15:25

Congrats @Bearest17

I hope you feel better soon @lydiangel83

This weekend can't come soon enough. Roll on 4.30!!!

lydiangel83 · 21/07/2017 16:13

Oh no @NiceCuppaTeaAndASitDown that sounds rubbish! Still feeling dreadful so back to bed now I've eaten

JCleRoux · 21/07/2017 16:16

Congrats @Bearest17!

What a way to spend the weekend @lydiangel83. Hope you feel better soon.

Question please for you ladies and apologies in advance for the TMI. These last few days I've been feeling some pressure where the baby is lying and an more than usual amount of white discharge (milky no smell) so much so that I feel it gushing out. I'm 18+5 today and haven't felt any movement from baby yet. Does any of this sound farmiliar?

Thank you Smile

theotherendofthesockportal · 21/07/2017 17:53

@JCleRoux I think I was around the same point as you when I started getting more discharge. The internet reassures me that this is normal. I have started to carry a spare pair of pants around with me in my bag.

theotherendofthesockportal · 21/07/2017 17:55

@JCleRoux I didn't feel definite movement until 19+5. It can be upto 23 weeks before you feel movements depending on baby/ placenta position. I had reassurance from my lovely mental health midwife about that

JCleRoux · 21/07/2017 18:13

@theotherendofthesockportal thanks for reassuring me. I did think about calling the EPU for a reassurance scan and may do that if I still feel a little unsettled over the weekend. I have my 20 week scan next Thursday too. We'll see how I get on.

Thank you x

izzibee29 · 21/07/2017 20:27

Hello ladies, update following the scan. Consultant was amazing this time, really communicative and didn't leave any awkward silences at all. Baby was hiding behind my belly button for the majority of the scan but luckily all was completed in one 2hr session.

High points included hearing my placenta is high anterior and seeing all the bones and organs in bubs again. Currently looks like we are going to have a leggy baby with lovely lips- future model possibly?!

@Zampa Are you feeling any better?

Zampa · 21/07/2017 20:48

Thanks for asking @izzibee29. I thought I was this morning! Felt like I was on the mend this morning but went downhill in the afternoon. The round trip to nursery is usually 30 minutes on foot but it took me 50 this evening. Back in bed, attempting not to cough!

Glad that your scan went well.

Lydia Hope that you're getting better.
