@izzibee29 I so nearly peeked but hubby had his eyes firmly closed and I knew I'd regret it but was v tempted! Have had an unpleasant experience tonight with a properly rotten egg whilst baking. Never seen one before but it was awful, think I will be off eggs for a while now! Am vegetarian anyway and seriously considering vegan - not nice!

Hazandduck · 30/06/2017 23:48

Oh no rotten eggs are the worst!

Aw @sock that scan is lovely :) It's so weird how much bigger they are at each scan...when we got home from our 20 wk scan we laid out the 3 sets of scan photos from 10+4 weeks, 14 weeks and 20+2 weeks, and the changes are just incredible.

We didn't want to find out really but the lady scanning said even if we wanted to we wouldn't be able to as the legs were firmly closed (and up above bub's head!) I was convinced I'm having a boy but the scanner said "she just needs to move so I can measure this" so now I am doubting! 🤔

Have fun shopping @sock :)

@Zampa you're a star! Thanks for all the recommendations, although my bank balance isn't so thankful ;)

butterybollocks · 01/07/2017 07:17

Aw lovely picture sock! Hope you have fun shopping :)

I am finally feeling human again after being ill all week. A friend has tipped me off that h and m in a nearby town has actual maternity clothes in an actual shop, so I'm taking DD on a girlie shopping trip this morning. She's a total shopaholic and devastatingly honest when I try stuff on so she's a great little shopping partner Grin

Motherhippy16 · 01/07/2017 07:42

@zampa I have just brought the cutest snowman leggings in the sale a cute little crochet hat and some hedgehog leggings all before I get out of bed.... Thank you for the recommendation.... so so cute!!! Lovely to see all the scan pics and good to know all is well! Only 13 days till my scan and I'm actually allowing myself to get excited! Dh has just told me that 'I have no money and that I wasn't supposed to be buying anything yet!' (Said in a loving way) so I rationalized it by saying they were in the sale. Think he's excited by me getting excited now. Lots of love to all x

Motherhippy16 · 01/07/2017 07:44

@butterybollocks hope you have a lovely time. Let us know if you find anything as both our local h and ms don't have anything so am currently just buying the next clothing size up! X

Hazandduck · 01/07/2017 15:02

Ah @Motherhippy those hedgehog leggings sound so cute!

That's exactly how it has gone with me getting excited, it makes OH feel more excited :) took me ages to believe in it really, but we have been watching bubba kick this morning and last night which is the best reassurance! Xx

JCleRoux · 01/07/2017 22:53

I have a few days worth of catching up….

@Topsyloulou and @butterybollocs how old are your DCs? The reason I ask if because we are trying to work out how to tell DS about the baby. We thought we would book a private scan and tell him that way. He has been talking about babies a lot though and keeps rubbing my tummy. I sometimes genuinely wonder if he knows…

I am also holding out buying anything just yet although I wish I was buying some things. So tempted by all the sales!

@Hazandduck I am so sorry about your dream. Are you feeling better?

Ooh @Zampa the babygros are so adorable!

Great pic sock and hope you enjoy the shopping!

Speaking of shopping, have you all started buying maternity clothes yet? We are not telling everyone yet and I am running out of loose tops to wear and my trousers are so tight one of the buttons fell off last week while I was at work…

theotherendofthesockportal · 01/07/2017 23:20

Thank you for all the comments in the scan photo. Tonight I felt like a proper pregnant lady! Went to a birthday party and nursed a soft drink all night. Please excuse the mess in my house, we are halfway through decorating.

Hazandduck · 01/07/2017 23:44

Ah lovely bump @sock.

Thanks @JC, I wish I was feeling better but I had a sleepless night last night stupidly googling late miscarriage, and ended up full blown panicking I was going to lose the baby and texting Midwife in the small hours! She was so understanding and has offered to let me hear the heartbeat again and have a blood test to check my thyroid levels. I had it checked in January and it was fine but I just want to eliminate all possibilities of something preventable going wrong! I know my way of thinking is unhealthy I just wish I knew how to stop it.

It is so wonderful seeing baby move, we have spent tonight watching my tummy ripple and baby's kicks, OH had his ear on my tummy and baby gave him a big whack! But i think the longer I am pregnant the more anxious I get because I love the little bub so much already and cannot imagine losing him/her :( xx

lydiangel83 · 02/07/2017 06:27

@theotherend I was at an all day beer festival! 3 non-alcoholic beers, two icecreams, pizza and snacks and very sugary non-alcoholic cider kept me going! Nice bump :-)

@Hazandduck glad your midwife was so nice and amazing you can see bump moving! Not sure I've seen that but going to start looking out!

butterybollocks · 02/07/2017 07:38

@jc my little girl is just turned 5, we told her after the 12 week scan (which was actually 14 weeks). She had been pestering for a sibling for ages and had actually already said there was a baby in my tummy, and we wanted to tell her why I'd been feeling ill and not up to our usual activities. We just sat her down and told her she was going to be a big sister. She then rang most of the family and told them! Grin

Haz that sounds really tough... It's horrible when the worry gets in control. I have to label the really negative stuff as 'intrusive thoughts' in my head as I find it helps me to bat them away... As in I can think they are just part of anxiety, not based on anything, and need to not to be listened to.

I had a successful trip to H&M yesterday! Lots of maternity stuff and lots of it was in the sale. I've been to Oxford Street and Birmingham and the shops don't stock it but a local (slightly scummy) small town store had lots Confused

Motherhippy16 · 02/07/2017 07:54

@lydiangel83 non alcoholic beer is getting me through social events as Well! Just found out my local shop does my favourite vegan non alcoholic one so think it's going to be my summer saviour!
@hazanduck I understand the small hour worries and so glad that the midwife could support you.
I over Did it at work yesterday pushing a heavy wheelchair around a nature reserve and my stomach felt like it had been punched. Spent the eve being very still and relaxing! Am off to a friend's baby shower today! Much love and kind thoughts to all x

lydiangel83 · 02/07/2017 08:05

@Motherhippy16 ooh what beer is that? After an unpleasant incident with a rotten egg on Friday I'm thinking of going vegan (currently veggie).
@butterybollocks what town was that? You're right Oxford Circus is rubbish!

Motherhippy16 · 02/07/2017 08:30

@lydiangel83 it's brewdog nanny state ipa.... just got it in my local Sainsbury's and it's really yummy! Been vegan over 12 years and so far pregnancy is going really well with it. Have found amazing protein youghurts with fruit in them that really help at lunch times to get me through the afternoon! X

Bubbasmama2017 · 02/07/2017 08:37

Hi all we found out on Friday were having a girl! I had a proper glass of wine to celebrate has anyone come across a good non alcoholic wine or prosecco that's not really sweet? I've tried cider and beer but it's not really my thing!

izzibee29 · 02/07/2017 13:19

@Bubbasmama2017 congrats- so the only low alcohol wine I've tried was from Tescos and it was dry and sweet, have an alcohol free kopaberg in my fridge now

izzibee29 · 02/07/2017 13:21

@Motherhippy16 Brewdog beers are delicious.

Nanny state is the only alcohol free one they do but when we're allowed booze again I suggest trying Elvis juice. It's a grapefruit flavoured beer.

Hazandduck · 02/07/2017 13:53

Congrats @Bubba :) exciting times!

Thanks all for your messages, glad I'm not alone in my worries. I think the further along you get, each set of worries gets replaced by the next thing to fear.

It is amazing and I can't quite believe it, this morning other half was asking bump questions and he/she kept kicking back in response, it was so cute (and weird at the same time lol.)

Lovely that your little girl is so excited @buttery :) I'm only on number one but already get excited imagining us having two or three haha. Don't know if that will change after experiencing a newborn!

@Bubba I love the Echo Falls non alcoholic sparkling white wine, I don't drink any way and OH usually gets me a bottle at Christmas so we can have a little toast over Christmas dinner even though I don't drink :) I find it really tasty, but I don't actually drink wine so my opinion might be invalid! X

Topsyloulou · 02/07/2017 14:11

@JCleRoux DS will be 3 at the end of September. We took him for a private scan & found out together it was a girl. He was very excited. We then recorded him saying it was a girl & sent it family & friends so he told them all. Every day he has to give bump a kiss, cuddle & high 5!

@butterybollocks I'm loving H&M maternity wear this time round. Most of the new stuff I've bought had been from there. George stuff is good too. After getting drenched on Tuesday I gave in & bought a maternity coat, only £25 from George & it has an extra bit you can zip in as your bump expands & then take out after.

Lovely to hear about all the scans & movements. Hope you are all doing ok in the heat. I stupidly put black skinny jeans on this morning. I left the house at 6.30 so that's my excuse.

Zampa · 02/07/2017 14:31

I'll confess to having a small glass of actual wine yesterday (accompanied by a large glass of soda water). Was nice but not sure I'll bother again as it wasn't nice enough to make it worthwhile.

I've not bought anything from here but I might pop along next weekend as they're based in Manchester. Their online shop looks pretty extensive.

I very rarely drink at all, so giving it up for pregnancy wasn't a problem until today - I want to sit in the garden with a pimms! I won't though, will have to wait until next summer 🙀

JCleRoux · 02/07/2017 18:48

Congrats bubba! Very exciting!

I'm watching with interest the suggestions of alcohol-free drinks. Today I would have loved some pimms in the garden as well sock

I had a look on the h and m website last night at maternity clothes after reading about it here.

Hope everyone is having relaxing Sunday

AGnu · 03/07/2017 18:47

I had my scan today. All looks good & my boys will be getting a little sister! I'm swinging between being really excited & rather daunted by the prospect of a teenage girl! Few years before I have to deal with that though!

tmc14 · 03/07/2017 19:31

Congratulations AGnu, glad all is well. With two older brothers I'm sure your daughter will be just fine as a teenager 😁

theotherendofthesockportal · 03/07/2017 19:51

Congratulations @AGnu
