I feel fine apart from back ache and not being able to sleep. That's really getting to me. Otherwise I think I'd feel completely normal and in-pregnant, just with permanent PMT!!

MsBranwen · 27/06/2017 14:01

I had my whooping cough vaccine yesterday too and also have pretty sore arm. It's recommended for all pregnant women from 20 weeks as that way you pass on immunity to baby until they get their own immunisations at 8 weeks.

I've been reading lots about the positive birth movement today and finding that really helping with my anxiety

Motherhippy16 · 27/06/2017 16:27

Hi all.... have just woken up from a nap and feel groggy as anything! Still so so tired but pretending to everyone at work that I'm ok! I've been booked in for my whooping cough vaccine at my 26 week midwife app. Managed to book it in straight away which was quite helpful. Hope all is well x x x x

Zampa · 27/06/2017 17:39

I'll confess that I won't be having the whooping cough vaccine this time around. It maybe a coincidence but I was incredibly ill for a fortnight after having it at 31 weeks and I was very anxious about the baby. I ended up delivering at 33 weeks and I'm sure the 2 are linked.

Not intending to put anyone off having it as I'm sure it was a coincidence, just not a theory I'm keen on testing!

butterybollocks · 27/06/2017 17:43

Had my scan this afternoon - all is well, one healthy little baby boy waving at us and kicking lots! Grin

Bubbasmama2017 · 27/06/2017 22:57

Congratulations @butterybollocks

Hazandduck · 27/06/2017 23:44

Ah lovely buttery :)
Sock - my OH was going through my pregnancy pack digging out the scan letter for tomorrow whilst I was at home, and sent me this picture saying he now understood why the house was so spotless haha. To be fair, I am extreme. Today I was fantasising at my desk about getting home and using a different nozzle on my Dyson 😂 Maybe we are nesting early! And it would explain why I washed (and shrank) all our sofa covers last week haha.

Congrats buttery!

I've been a bit absent recently, sorry! Life just seems rather hectic at the moment without actually achieving anything! Just checking in preparation for my anxiety meltdowns over the next few days... I've got my scan on Monday &, while I'm not especially concerned there'll be something wrong with the baby, I am getting a bit obsessive about what sex it'll be!

We have 2 boys already so practically it would be easier to have another, then they could all share the big bedroom & leave us with a spare room to use as a study. I really want a girl though. My main reason for wanting a girl is because my middle name has been passed down for several generations & I feel like I'd be letting all previous generations down. I already feel like I've broken with tradition by not having a boy followed by a girl. Both my mother & grandmother would laugh at me if I admitted to feeling like this. I do know it's ridiculous & that I'd love any baby that came along... But I'm still kind of scared that I'm going to cry whatever they say on Monday! Blush I'm not usually an emotional person - blooming hormones! It doesn't help that DH & I like very different names & he's admitted that he might get used to my suggestion for a girl but we can't agree at all on a boys' name & he won't discuss it much until we know what we're having. I'm not a very patient person & I want to make a decision right now! Hmm

Hazandduck · 27/06/2017 23:45

@Zampa I totally understand why you would feel like that, you just need to do what's right for you in pregnancy don't you xx

Hazandduck · 27/06/2017 23:47

Aw @agnu I'm sure everyone feels something when they find out the sex, even if they weren't aware they had a preference. Is there a male version of the name you could perhaps use as a middle name as a nice nod to your family? X

AGnu · 27/06/2017 23:53

I've been nesting too. I keep cleaning the bath when I'm supposed to just be cleaning my teeth before bed. The kids' toys leave marks all over the bath. I've tried getting them off with the magic sponges but it takes ages. I found myself googling the best cream cleaner at 1am the other day while DH was waiting for his turn in the bathroom! Blush

We also have a few spots of mould near the window in our bedroom which I want to deal with but I don't want to be breathing in mould spores while pregnant. DH says he'll deal with it but evenings & weekends are so busy at the moment & it's only a matter of time before I can't help myself & just tie a scarf round my face & crack on with it! I'm convinced the mould will be all under the wallpaper & in the plaster & we're going to need the whole room stripping & replastering so I really want to get on & find out if that's the case so we've got time to sort it before baby comes.

lydiangel83 · 28/06/2017 03:31

@Hazandduck not started nesting here yet tho I think DH wishes I would as he is much tidier than me lol!

Congrats @butterybollocks so glad all is fine for you and @AGnu can totally imagine you'd be impatient and emotional either way. I'm sure i would be!

lydiangel83 · 28/06/2017 07:27

Is anyone else properly not sleeping? I'm going crazy. A lot on at work and physically knackered but cannot sleep, not even any particular reason / nothing on my mind. Can't get a doctors appt until 11th July and pretty sure they won't do anything anyway...

Zampa · 28/06/2017 07:38

Lydia Also sleeping badly and I seem to remember it only gets worse.

theotherendofthesockportal · 28/06/2017 07:45

@lydiangel83 I'm not sleeping properly either. This is confirmed by my Fitbit which tells me I'm sleeping less than 4 hours a night :( my legs develop a mind of their own at night and no matter what I do I can't get comfortable. Then I have to get up for a wee! It will all be worth it in the end though and that what keep me going.

Thank you for the picture @Hazandduck - I'm following the konmarie method. I think my husband is fearful of me getting hold of his junk stuff

My mum popped by yesterday she has knitted me 4 little cardigans. I nearly melted into a puddle of emotion, they are the most adorable things I've ever seen!

lydiangel83 · 28/06/2017 08:02

@Zampa I fully anticipate it getting worse that's what I'm worried about. Wouldn't mind if work wasn't so demanding at the moment - need to use my baby brain! Any tips or anything that works? I am terrible for going on my phone at night may have to keep it downstairs

Zampa · 28/06/2017 08:06

Definitely don't pick up your phone! You'll never get back to sleep!

You could try sleep meditation on YouTube (although that would involve your phone ...!).

I just lie there, kicking OH to try and stop him snoring, clicking and twitching.

butterybollocks · 28/06/2017 08:14

I'm off work again today - my temperature was 38.8 when I woke up. Am not sleeping well either but I think that's to do with being ill. Feeling quite sorry for myself today.

lydiangel83 · 28/06/2017 08:36

Oh no @butterybollocks that's rubbish :-( does paracetamol help? Hope you can get lots of rest Flowers

butterybollocks · 28/06/2017 10:11

@lydiaangel83 yes paracetamol does bring my temperature down really quickly...but I'm already taking the maximum daily dose. Going to try to spread the doses out a bit more today.

Hazandduck · 28/06/2017 10:45

@Buttery sorry you are still feel crap. Is it really muggy where you are? Nothing worse than having a temperature when it's already hot :(

@Lydia the only thing that really works for me is reading a book. It seems to just help me relax (unless I'm reading something really intense, then before I know it, it starts getting light and I...must...just...read...one....more...chapter!)

Oh @Sock that sounds so sweet of your mum. I don't think any of the ladies in my family really knit, but my SIL's lovely mum did knit my niece a beautiful peach and white coloured poncho once with gorgeous pompoms, so maybe I can drop some hints to her lol.

theotherendofthesockportal · 28/06/2017 12:50

@butterybollocks I hope you feel better soon

DuRezidal · 28/06/2017 16:39

Has anyone else had a reaction to the whooping cough vaccine?

Topsyloulou · 28/06/2017 17:06

What sort of reaction have you had Durez? My arm was sore for 24 hours but nothing apart from that. The nurse did say to me you can get a slight temp, feel tired / rundown as your body absorbs the vaccine but it's not live so shouldn't be any nasty effects.

Hazandduck · 28/06/2017 18:02

I have mine Friday after work, so will let you know @Durez. What happened with yours?

Had our 20 week scan today and all was well. We saw a wonderful face-on shot of bub's face, but they didn't give us a photo of it. The baby had the poutiest mouth I've ever seen haha. It didn't like being prodded about! It is amazing watching the heart close-up and seeing the kidneys etc too. The midwife said "she" and "his" at various points, so we are none the wiser as to what we are having, but my gut still says boy :)
