Desperate to slap on the fake tan ... Ah, well, pale and interesting for one summer won't hurt!

Happy Fathers' Day!

Foggymist · 18/06/2017 11:35

Why can't you put on fake tan? I always think natural looks better anyway!

butterybollocks · 18/06/2017 13:37

Hope everyone is ok in this heat - I'm exhausted and we have a really busy weekend. Dipping my feet in the cold paddling pool is bliss!

Topsyloulou · 18/06/2017 14:39

This heat is a killer. I'm even looking forward to work tomorrow so I can spend the day on air conditioned comfort! We're hiding family this weekend or I'd definitely have the paddling pool out & fighting DS for space! Got a lovely 4 hour drive home to do later, can't wait!

izzibee29 · 18/06/2017 14:46

@Topsyloulou oh no🚘 4hrs that'll be torture.

It's
Is far too hot isn't it.

lydiangel83 · 18/06/2017 14:54

Been for an afternoon tea totally stuffed am definitely putting on weight all over now lol. @Zampa fake tan is fine it's just spray tan that you can't have due to fumes xx

lydiangel83 · 18/06/2017 15:03

I woke up very emotional as we are worried about 20 wk scan and I must have had bad dreams about it. Going to pay for a private scan this week for reassurance :-/

MsBranwen · 18/06/2017 15:54

Oh @lydiangel, so sorry that you've got anxiety after your scan, so frustrating that they don't explain things properly to you at the scan. Really hope you're reassurance scan puts your mind at rest.

I am far too hot and really have no idea what to wear at the moment as hadn't been able to get any maternity stuff other than jeans yet and all my tops and dresses feel tight and also a lot of cleavage due to ridiculous boob growth!

DryHeave · 18/06/2017 17:18

17+5. So hot. I bought a few stretchy maxi dresses and I can't see myself wearing anything else any time soon!

Have started picking up baby bits now - only from car boot sales & gumtree so far. Have a nursery consultation booked at John Lewis next Sunday. That'll be pricey, I'm sure!

izzibee29 · 18/06/2017 19:49

@DryHeave we are at the same point. Today was far too hot - I coped by filling a soppy cup with ice and water- does it matter that it's the one I got in Vegas for alcoholic slushies Grin.---- Im intending to take it to work tomorrow too.

We have bought a second hand travel system off eBay, me and hubby and are having a road trip to wales next weekend to collect it. I'm so excited!

I am also melting! I don't normally feel the heat and live in my fluffy dressing gown, but I am actually considering stripping to my underwear.

lydiangel83 · 18/06/2017 20:49

I've eaten a lot of icecream this afternoon and bizarrely bread and olive oil! I wanted something savoury after huge afternoon tea!

lydiangel83 · 18/06/2017 20:56

Does anyone know if the 20 wk scan includes check (Doppler uterine or something?) that the blood is flowing to/from placenta normally? Apparently this is the best check for abnormalities but don't know if they checked it for us

Zampa · 18/06/2017 22:11

I think, Lydia that they check location and the cord of the placenta. I don't know if they check blood flow.

Glad that your getting a reassurance scan. I'm sure that there is absolutely nothing too worry about but hopefully this will set your mind at ease.

This hot weather has really shown that I need to tone up my arms and legs. Was a hot, fat mess today. Hate swimming and pregnancy yoga is a bit wishy washy for me. Going to have to think outside the box.

lydiangel83 · 19/06/2017 06:57

@Zampa thanks I am hoping to book a scan today for later this wk.

I know what you mean re exercise it is difficult. I don't love swimming but have been trying to go once a week when I can. Pregnancy yoga was a waste of time - well the one class I went to. I think it'll be good when you're like 8 months plus, but until then there are better ways to stay active. How about power walking? Or spinning? I heard you can still do plank when preggo and that is good for your arms. My friend is a PT and she also said tricep dips e.g. off the side of your bed are fine.

I say all this as I am in bed eating buttery fruit toast and before I have my actual breakfast of peanut butter bagel and hot chocolate :) I know what you mean tho it is hard work in this heat!

Zampa · 19/06/2017 08:07

It's SO hot here already! Gah!

Working from home today as have a midwife appointment. Going to hide in the coolest room and only emerge for water and ice lollies.

I'm huffing and puffing whilst walking up the stairs Lydia ... Think I'm going to start with some brisk walking in the evenings then do some of the post natal exercises I have from post DD. Should probably become less hydrophobic too ... Holiday in 6 weeks and need to dare to bare!

lydiangel83 · 19/06/2017 08:19

@Zampa also huffing and puffing a lot don't worry! Sounds like a good plan I'm in London today and it's boiling!

tootsieglitterballs · 19/06/2017 08:34

Finally feel like I'm ready to join an actual 'due month' thread! I've been hanging around and posting on other threads throughout, but just didn't feel ready to join a proper group yet.

We are 17+3 and have a gender scan booked for 18+2 (this weekend) . Already have a DS (almost 2 1/2). I never wanted to know if our DS was a boy or girl until it came to finding out and he wasn't being co-operative, so we booked a private one, as suddenly having the option there and not being able to take it made me want it more, if you know what I mean! So this time we have just straight up booked a separate gender scan.

Due last week of November - can't wait!

Started feeling movements every so often a couple of weeks ago, and getting more, mostly on an evening and first thing in the morning.

Consultant led care this time as I had induction followed by full labour and pushing for an hour which ended in EMCS. Trying for a natural labour this time, but will go for Elective if it hasn't happened by 41 weeks as can't bear being induced again.

Good luck to everyone out there!

butterybollocks · 19/06/2017 09:24

Welcome tootsie!
I'm so hot and tired today I can't think straight - trying to work but it's just not happening so think I'll take it easy today and make up for it later in the week.

PrincipalCelestia · 19/06/2017 12:43

@lydiangel83

I don't think the anomaly scan includes the uterine Doppler scan.
I am not 100% on this but as I have low Papp a I have been booked in for a specific uterine Doppler scan at 23 weeks.

It seems you can have the scan done privately (although rather expensive)

I'm going for my regular 20 week scan later today and I'm feeling extremely nervousSad

tootsieglitterballs · 19/06/2017 12:46

I love warm weather and sunny days (especially being a SAHM) but this weather is just too hot to be pregnant in!

lydiangel83 · 19/06/2017 12:48

Thanks @PrincipalCelestia just booked a private scan altho waiting for receptionist to confirm that it includes the Doppler. It had better do as bloody expensive!! Just want peace of mind and willing to pay for it :-/

tmc14 · 19/06/2017 14:28

Will be thinking of you Lydia, fingers crossed all is well.

I usually whinge about work but am enjoying the aircon. I also haven't really used my badge on the tube yet but this morning I wore it & gladly took the seat offered. Currently eating an entire punnet of strawberries because I can.

Sock - Also bought a travel system at the weekend! On the local selling group, £60, it's not particularly fancy, but is clean and easy to use and means I don't have to trawl round the shops trying them all out. Just need some clothes that fit me now...

butterybollocks · 19/06/2017 16:30

Apparently people in my office have been shivering today....for the first time ever I'm complaining about working from home! I had to log off early today as just couldn't focus, have taken tomorrow off and switched my travel plans for weds so I can drive to my meeting in my air conditioned car! Feeling pretty guilty about not being up to my usual standard at work but have been instructed not to worry.

Lydia hope the scan gives you the reassurance you need - I know how it feels when the worry is gnawing away at you.
