Bubbasmama2017 · 13/06/2017 11:41

@lydiangel83 great news! :-)

butterybollocks · 13/06/2017 20:17

Welcome msbranwen!

Lydia great news on the scan... Is that the first 20 week scan in the group? How exciting!

Thesp00kykids · 13/06/2017 20:22

Checking in at exactly 17 weeks today due 21st November. Can't add myself to the list :(

theotherendofthesockportal · 13/06/2017 20:47

@lydiangel83 congratulations on your 20 week scan! Mine is in 17 days -may as well be the next millennium 😂

lydiangel83 · 13/06/2017 21:24

Thanks all! Never been so relieved to be called 'normal' before but everything within relevant average ranges etc :) celebrated with a trip to mothercare but only came away with breast pads (following warnings on here!) and then fish and chips for tea!!

Topsyloulou · 13/06/2017 21:45

Glad to hear the scan went well today Lydia. Good luck for yours too tomorrow Branwen.

Durez how have you managed teaching today? Could you get round on the scooter ok? It must be so frustrating for you as well as incredibly painful. Hope the rest of your recovery is smooth.

My bump is well & truly out now. Tried taking a photo earlier & just couldn't get it right, will get DP to take one when he's home. Went out at lunch to panic buy maternity work dresses. I'm hosting some presentations in London tomorrow & the two options I had planned are both out of the running now, one is not going to accommodate the bump & the other is far too warm for 25 degrees in central London. I'm going for the show the bump off clingy options, feels the closet to my normal tailored styles.

theotherendofthesockportal · 13/06/2017 22:28

@Topsyloulou I am braving wearing a maternity dress tomorrow. Where did you get yours from? I am melting and my usual attire of jeggings and long top are killing me - my work place is very casual due to the nature of the business. I'm scared of showing off my legs!

lydiangel83 · 14/06/2017 05:49

@Topsyloulou where did you get dresses from? Finding it so hard to find nice dresses and no shops near me sell maternity so I've bought all online (and returned 80% of it as it doesn't fit). I've bought some Isabella Oliver dresses on eBay and two new Seraphine dresses for work which are clingy-ish but quite smart. I also usually wear smart tailored dresses and suit jacket so quite a change of style and I think people are noticing that more than bump. I made full switch to mat clothes last week!

Topsyloulou · 14/06/2017 06:29

I'm quite lucky & in the small shopping centre 5 minutes from work there is s big mothercare, a Topshop with a very small maternity section & H&M with a good maternity section. Yesterday I got 3 dresses from mothercare & 1 from H&M. I'm taking all but one back but I'm going to order the next size in one of the mothercare ones, it was nice & smart in a cool fabric but I was definitely kidding myself I could fit in an 8 but it was that or a 16.

I've also got a black stretchy one from Topshop that I dress up with my normal jackets & heels & then a leopard skin print one from H&M that I'll wear a black jacket with. I've also got some smart black maternity trousers that I wear for work. I've got a couple of normal tops that still fit over the bump that I wear or I've got a couple of maternity blouses. I've also got a black pencil skirt from George at Asda but haven't worn that yet. It's very hit & miss ordering online or buying in store I did a big H&M shop & ended up taking most of it back as it was too small, then ordered some different bits online & have taken all that back as it's too big!

Bubbasmama2017 · 14/06/2017 06:57

How are you still wearing heels @topsyloulou? Even wearing a very small heel I find makes my hips and bottom of my bump so achy! Hmm

Zampa · 14/06/2017 07:50

Risk of bleeding from taking daily aspirin on the news this morning. Going to check with my midwife about continuing taking it. Just another thing to worry about!

butterybollocks · 14/06/2017 08:24

I think the daily aspirin is in Nice guidance zampa, hopefully the midwife will be able to reassure you.

Jojo have some nice dresses - I'm waiting for them to have a sale as their sales are usually good! I have to go into the office in London tomorrow, have no idea what to wear. Most people don't know I'm pregnant (not because it's a secret, just because I haven't told many people) and I feel a bit self conscious about just walking in there in summery clothes with a bump! Was planning to wear a floaty shirt but I think it will be too hot.

Topsyloulou · 14/06/2017 08:56

Bubba I wore heels everyday at work with DS until I went on mat leave at 37 weeks. They're not too high & I only wear them in the office / meetings. I drive in flats & put my heels on when I get to work. I'm travelling in flats today & have my heels ready to change into on the tube!

I'm taking daily aspirin too so will have to look out for that article.

I know what you mean about just walking in bump on show. I'm like that today, I work in account management & today will be the first time I've seen my accounts with the bump, they also don't know I'm pregnant so it will be an interesting conversation starter!

MsBranwen · 14/06/2017 10:58

Thanks for the well wishes ladies! Scan was all good, baby looks healthy and we found out we're having a boy! Feeling so relieved and that I might finally allow myself to start getting excited and believe that this is really happening! Had been so reluctant to really commit to anything baby related but seeing him today and knowing everything looks 'normal' feels really good... Might allow myself to start buying some things, starting with some proper maternity clothes!

Zampa · 14/06/2017 11:56

Link here re aspirin;

www.theguardian.com/science/2017/jun/14/risk-of-bleeds-and-death-with-daily-aspirin-use-higher-than-thought

I think the risk is higher in long-term use, i.e. 10 years, rather than 6 months. I'm going to keep on taking it but will still check with midwife.

Bubbasmama2017 · 14/06/2017 13:59

@msbranwen brilliant news! Were you surprised by the gender? I'm so certain I'm having a boy! Find out in 2 and a half weeks eeek

Motherhippy16 · 14/06/2017 16:57

Congratulations msbranwen! Wondeful news.... I had my 16 week appointment yesterday and heard babies heart beat... took a while to find it... thinking baby likes playing hide and seek! Thank you for the information about aspirin. Hope everyone is managing to keep cool. I got some new work clothes from h&m... causal due to my work but feel so cool today! X

MsBranwen · 14/06/2017 18:47

Thanks for all the well wishes! Feeling so happy and excited today! Bought a tiny little babygro on my way home from work, going to bulk buy second hand from ebay for most baby clothes but felt important to make a little gesture!

You know @bubbasmama I really did think I was having a boy, would have been more surprised if they said it was a girl!

@mothershippy,isnt it amazing hearing the heartbeat!?

theotherendofthesockportal · 14/06/2017 22:03

I appear to have exploded into a giant bump this evening! My husband just asked me if I am smuggling a football

theotherendofthesockportal · 14/06/2017 22:42

izzibee29 · 14/06/2017 23:27

Hi ladies I'm looking for advice. The muscles down the left hand side of my back are really doing my head in- just can't seem to get them to chill particularly at bed time- any suggestions please

Zampa · 15/06/2017 06:04

Impressive bump sock!

I'm at that horrible fat stage of pregnancy. I hate my body right now (especially as I have a cold!).

lydiangel83 · 15/06/2017 07:13

I forgot that I wore the same dress (light, cotton, clingy) two days in a row. Nice bump @theotherendofthesock

@izzibee29 I've started pregnancy massage as get really bad neck and shoulder pain anyway - maybe that would help?
