Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

Pidgy I'm totally with you on the salt and vinegar crisps!!

Blissful, thinking of you!! Fingers crossed!

I've got a question about cramps and twinges, mine have predominantly been on my left hand side, last night I woke in the middle of the night with really painful stomach cramps, but on the other side. Initially I was really scared but I'm trying to change my mindset to be more positive and take it that the baby just wanted to give me some signs, I've been symptom free for about 3/4 days prior besides fatigue.
What experiences have other people had re cramps and twinges? Does it tend to be one side or can it be both? Thanks guys, enjoy the cooler weather Smile

cookingbabydunc · 24/06/2017 10:06

Eclecticmama been meaning to get back to you with my DD it's 08/02/18. Thanks for doing that.
My first scan is booked for 1st August, so about 12.5 weeks which seems so far away so we're looking into getting a private one before hand. Really interesting hearing people's experiences. Wish I could hold out but I really can't. Not too fussed about how good the image is just want to hear the heart beat for reassurance!

Emwahs · 24/06/2017 10:50

@cookingbabydunc i don't have many cramps anymore just the odd twinge but at about 5/6weeks I had a few that moved around and even ones like yourself that woke you up in the night. I spoke to the doctors about if and they referred me for early scan which shown all was well and had a heartbeat. It has put my mind at ease but even after that I booked a private scan which I had on Wednesday at 7+6 was lovely to see baby penguin again and a strong heartbeat even if the picture was not clear. Although you feel better after scan it does not take long for anxiety to kick in again but I would said that few days of feeling a little more relaxed is worth it. The only thing I would change is maybe go at 9 weeks, you may be able to see more.

My booking in appointment is not till 10th July and I will be almost 11 weeks by then as we are on holiday the week before so hopefully won't have to wait much longer for scan!

lookatthemoon · 24/06/2017 10:52

Re birth stories - in case any first time mums are freaked out by hearing them - my strategy for coping with anxiety about birth was to keep reminding myself that if my mum could do it 3 times I could do it once.

If that doesn't work - just think about all the idiots you know who have managed to have a baby 😆

Anyway, we have a lot more to get through before we get to the birth part ...

Pidgythe2nd · 24/06/2017 10:56

Anyone know when you're meant to have a booking in appointment? They were all booked up at my surgery until I was 13 1/2 weeks (1 per week as it's longer), so they told me to call the community midwives which I did, but they still haven't got back to me. I have a scan date at 12,1 but nothing else.
I can't remember there being anything time dependent but not sure now. Confused

lookatthemoon · 24/06/2017 10:57

Emwahs - totally agree with you! While the early scans are nice and somewhat comforting, it is heaps better at 9/10 weeks because you will recognise a little baby. Also find they don't keep the anxiety completely away.

Cooking - my cramps were more so on the left side but did move around a bit. They have mostly gone now. If there is no blood I take cramps as a good sign that your uterus is doing what it needs to Smile

lookatthemoon · 24/06/2017 11:03

Pidgy - I might be wrong but I think the ultrasound scan is the only thing that is time sensitive and that is only if you are doing the NT screening in which case it needs to happen between 11 weeks and 13 1/2 weeks.

Thinking of you, Bliss xxx

The starving/nauseous rollercoaster continues for me. I'm surprised to hear from some ladies how late booking appointments can sometimes be. I can't imagine going through the whole first trimester with no midwife contact, especially as my doctor didn't need/want to see me when I told reception that I'm pregnant. I've already got a huge list of questions to get through when I see her!

BabyButton2 · 24/06/2017 18:12

Hi All.

I hope you are all doing ok and babies are growing happily.

Sorry I haven't been able to catch up with messages the last week or so. I have hit full blow HG. Throwing up non stop all day and night and feel awful every minute of every day...just like last time. I was so hopeful when I had no symptoms 1 week ago.

Thinking of you all and will catch up with the convo soon xx

EmilyK83 · 24/06/2017 19:38

Ohhhhhh BabyButton2, so sorry to hear about the HG - hope it doesn't last too long Flowers

I'll be 9w6d at my booking appointment...

Troika · 24/06/2017 20:31

Oh no babybutton sympathies to you. I had hg with my first and it was truly awful. I don't think anyone can begin to understand unless they have suffered because it is worse than I could ever imagine! With my second I just had sickness, no idea if it was of a normal level but it was way better than the hg. My third I felt as awful as I had with the hg but wasn't actually sick as much, just continual retching so didn't get as dehydrated and didn't take meds.

Humpertydumpty · 24/06/2017 21:02

Hi,

Can you remove me from the list please. Absolutely no doubt I've had a miscarriage judging by what's come out today and a -ve test confirmed it. Good luck to you all and I hope you have happy pregnancies.

Blissfulignorance · 24/06/2017 21:04

@Humpertydumpty I'm so so so sorry for your loss. I hope the pain of it all eases soon. Take care my lovely.

I'm still in limbo. I had a positive test this morning but have been bleeding all day. I'm probably out too but will wait for a scan to confirm.

choochooo · 24/06/2017 21:07

Oh humperty lovely, I'm so sorry. Sending you love and hugs xx

EmilyK83 · 24/06/2017 21:13

Sending you both massive, massive hugs, Humperty and Blissful Flowers

choochooo · 25/06/2017 06:52

How are you today bliss? Can you go to epu to ask for a scan?

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 25/06/2017 07:00

Humperty - I'm so sorry. That's just so cruel. Look after yourself Flowers.

Blissful - I'm sorry you're in limbo. I really hope it is just a scare Flowers.

RainyDayBear · 25/06/2017 08:25

So sorry humperty, look after yourself Flowers

I keep getting worried because although I still have nausea, it seems to be getting a touch better rather than worse. I really hope things are okay in there! Booking in is in a weeks time, I suspect they might want to do a dating scan anyway as I'm a bit hazy on my dates, but if not I might go for an early reassurance scan.

RainyDayBear · 25/06/2017 08:45

Have just told DP I was worrying about nausea coming and going and he says that I worried about this a lot in the early days last time! So I feel a bit reassured, I sort of vaguely remember it now he's said that!

emwithme · 25/06/2017 09:49

So sorry humperty look after yourself Flowers Cake

I've got my reassurance scan on Monday evening, by my dates I'll be 8+0 then. Haven't got my booking in until I'm 10+3 (was supposed to be last week, was cancelled). Apparently I'll still get my NHS dating scan on time though, they can do appointments within days locally which is handy.

I'm still switching between starving hungry and wanting to throw up. Haven't actually been sick yet (fortunately) but definite retching when cleaning my back teeth (which strikes me as the worst irony ever).

PumbletonWakeshaft · 25/06/2017 10:21

Morning all, not posted on here much as I'm in the middle of marking thousands of exam papers at the mo. Really need some advice please. I'm 7+5 and just started bleeding this morning. Gone into panic mode and really don't know what to do. I've been burning the midnight oil with my marking - have I f*cked up my pregnancy?? SadSadSad

lookatthemoon · 25/06/2017 10:42

So sorry for you loss Humperty - take care xx

Pumbleton - hopefully this is just one of those scary pregnancy things and everything is ok! Please don't stress that you caused anything, generally these things happen for a reason that we have no control over. It is highly unlikely that you contributed to the bleeding but it might make you feel better if you try and rest now. Fx for you x

PumbletonWakeshaft · 25/06/2017 10:56

lookatthemoon thank you I hope so too. Obsessively knicker-checking Confused! I never had any spotting or anything with DS1 so I'm trying not to think the worst. Hugs for everyone who has had a loss, really keeping my fingers crossed today.

RainyDayBear · 25/06/2017 11:14

Pumbleton Fingers crossed it's nothing, maybe ring the EPU tomorrow for a check though? I'm also in the middle of exam paper marking hell at the moment and pushing it a bit so sympathise hugely - I very much doubt it would contribute to anything going wrong in pregnancy though. I'm struggling to get mine done, but the way I see it, I'm doing what I can, and if I don't meet my quota, life will go on!
