Hello! Just got my bfp, would love to join up with others expecting next Feb.

My DD is 16 months, so we're expecting (almost exactly!) a 2yr age gap all being well. EDD 2nd Feb.

Thanks all for the reassurance!

It's so scary how much I'm focussing on every twinge and symptom - it's driving me insane!

No bleeding or cramping - I really feel for you @blissfulignorance but just remember the scan and try not to worry (easy for me to say and pot kettle!)

RainyDayBear · 23/06/2017 12:19

Totally agree that symptoms come and go. Last time round I had hideous morning sickness, and then had this one amazing day where I felt brilliant with no symptoms. I wasted the entire day worrying and googling it. Try not to worry!

Toomanydogs · 23/06/2017 12:58

I worried a few days ago when my nausea stopped- until I promptly vomited as I walked outside! Have gone from feeling like I'm going to be sick any second, to just actually being sick without any warning. Came out of my nose this morning, safe to say that's not an experience I want to repeat.

toots123 · 23/06/2017 13:23

Yes elcs may be easier recovery which will be nice. My symptoms are coming and going but I'm trying not to panic either. As hard as it is, it's out of our hands now.
I didn't have sore boobs last time so this is very new. Dh was told to sod off last night when he tried to touch me. Oops Grin

Alicantine · 23/06/2017 13:34

@Emilyk83 I have plenty of good stories to tell you:). I have had 5 vaginal births with only gas and air each time. No epidural or anything else. I really think taking raspberry leaf tablets in the last six weeks of the birth at each pregnancy really helped. They're meant to help you get strong contractions during your labour. I started with my first and never looked back.

But of course just to repeat what the other girls are saying there is no way in advance that you can know how it's going to be for you on the day and for me if I get to the end of this sixth baby's pregnancy I will still keep my mind open. Emcs are exactly that: emergency measures. And you can also tell that those who are applying for elcs this time have perfectly good reasons so.... there's no rule :)

@toomanydogs I was eating when I read your message!!! Aaargh lol!!

@blissfullignorance I'm so thrilled for you

Everyone else have a nice day :) :).

emwithme · 23/06/2017 15:55

I'm SO bloody hungry today. I've eaten my normal breakfast, 3 bits of graze box, a giant lunch salad (crayfish and croutons), berries and yoghurt, a load of pineapple/melon, an apple, a bag of crisps, a tube of smarties and I could still eat a scabby horse between two dustbin lids.

The only time I don't actively feel pukey is literally when I'm eating. I finished some melon about 90 seconds ago and the wave of nausea is building already. Haven't actually been sick, just feel it.

But still no bleeding, so today, I am pregnant. We have our private scan on Monday when we should be 8+0 so hopefully will see a lovely little bean with a heartbeat.

RainyDayBear · 23/06/2017 16:51

I'm constantly starving too, I am obsessed with carbs and salt! I normally eat pretty healthily but am really not at the moment. Contemplating having a fishfinger sandwich and chips for dinner because stodgy food is so appealing at the moment!

choochooo · 23/06/2017 17:37

Yes to being starving and also eating stopping sickness, I remember that from last time!

Loxy4527 · 23/06/2017 18:01

I hear you on the salt and carbs! Nausea wasn't too bad today so I went to work, was nibbling on crackers and fruit then wolfed down a bowl of rice and bag of hula hoops - they were really satisfying. Like, no good for me but it was so nice to eat and enjoy it.

ELFR · 23/06/2017 18:53

So hungry! Feeling surprisingly well (given I felt like death warmed up at points last week). Who would have thought that ditching caffeine and alcohol might actually be good for you?! Shock

Emwahs · 23/06/2017 19:39

I don't seem to have much of an appetite but if I don't eat when I get hungry the nausea starts. I have completely gone off anything healthy. For tea tonight it was tuna and cheese on toast. My symptoms come and go boobs have generally stopped aching but hurt a lot of dog jumps up on me or someone bumps into me and the tiredness is there daily but I seem to hit a brick wall just after lunch more so then the usual post lunch sleepiness. I just wanna curl up in ball and sleep but thanks to work that's not possible then i feel ok till I leave work and all I want to do is collapse on couch. The husband is away till a week today and normally I cope fine but this time I am struggling to find the energy to work 42 hours a week, keep a house tidy and walk dogs twice a day!

Hope everyone is doing well. I am sure it's all worth it in the end! Wink

Blissfulignorance · 23/06/2017 20:35

Well I'm not doing great. Cramps got a lot worse tonight and I had a pretty big bleed and passed a huge clot. Been seen at the hospital, my cervix is still closed but it's 50/50 if this is a miscarriage. Utterly broken. Just have to wait and see.

Pidgythe2nd · 23/06/2017 20:36

Hi ladies/lassies Smile
Been lurking for a while and not posting as never seem to have enough time to write a proper message.
Sorry for those we've lost in the past few weeks, welcome to all those new!

I was feeling pretty horrendous this week with the hot weather, but feeling a lot better now it's cooler. Still incredibly tired but eating little and often (very often!) seems to be helping with the sickness. Haven't actually been sick but feel it a lot. Hating tea and have a weird taste quite a bit if the time. Salt and vinegar hulahoops are AMAZING!! Oh, and cheese. So I'm classy and getting fatter by the day. Grin

I had a bit of brown spotting a week or so ago so had an early scan at the epu due to my history. Was 6w,1days and saw a heart beat. Hoping it sticks around but certainly very reassuring.

I've had 1 very positive and 1 very easy birth story I can share. Don't let the 2nd one scare you as it's quite rare!

First was a long early stage (stop start for days, but totally copeable, just frustrating) but then once it properly kicked off with painful contractions it was 4 hours and some of that was pushing. Just gas and air and water. Still pretty intense in that I couldn't quite believe a baby was appearing from between my legs, and there was a fair amount of errrr, mess, but really positive.

Second delivery was incredibly quick. Too quick. From waters breaking DD was delivered at home in the bathroom by my mum less than 3 hours later. Positives were that it was hardly painful at all as although the contractions did hurt, it wasn't relentless.
Negatives were that I felt totally let down by the midwife that dismissed me and told me I wasn't in labour, and to go home from the hospital. Ended up in a totally unplanned home birth which took me a while to come to terms with. I couldn't understand why I'd been sent home and what I should have done differently. I felt a bit detached from my DD at the start and blamed my DH for not listening to me or being on 'my side'. DD had the cord around her neck and didn't breath immediately....seemed like ages but totally normal in both counts i now know.
I had a birth debrief 10 months later which answered a lot of questions and they investigated the midwife involved as well as updated certain training/review procedures. In hindsight it was so nice to be at home and in my bed so soon after, and the actual birth was calm (I was totally in another place...it was weird), and my mum will dine out on the story for years! So overall I view it as positive now!

Pidgythe2nd · 23/06/2017 20:38

Blissful Flowers thinking of you. Sad

EmilyK83 · 23/06/2017 21:27

Hey Pidgy! Interesting to hear your stories, thanks for sharing!

Oh Blissful I'm thinking of you lovely, really hoping for some positive news Flowers

lookatthemoon · 23/06/2017 22:15

Oh Blissful - so stressful. Hopefully all is ok. I think you are the same as me (8weeks?) and would ordinarily be due a period at this time so maybe that is what is making bleeding worse at the moment. Crossing everything for you. Flowers

Thanks for the kind words Coffee Smile

Like a lot of us the endless nausea is grinding me down. And the list of foods I can't eat seems to be getting longer and longer.

EmilyK83 · 23/06/2017 22:47

I feel like the odd one out for not feeling nauseous at all...but I guess at 6w2d I still have time...

lookatthemoon · 23/06/2017 23:27

6+2 is early for nausea Emily - it might still be coming for you! WinkWith DS I didn't really start to feel it until after 7 weeks ...

Binglesplodge · 23/06/2017 23:42

Checking in: sorry I'm such a total part-timer - I stop by and read often but don't have much to add usually!

Had my booking in appointment today at a little under 8 weeks because my midwife will be off on holiday for the next 2 weeks. She was lovely and it was reassuring to start the wheels in motion to arrange a birth afterthoughts session to go over the notes from my first labour and see what happened: no scare stories for first time mums on this thread but it was pretty grim.

I also met a super student midwife who would like to add me to her caseload, which will be fab. She'll be at all my antenatal appointments and will be there at the birth. I'm happy about that because it will mean a familiar face at the hospital.

Hope everyone is well: I'm utterly wiped out and feeling sick. Not actually throwing up though, so I'm luckier than some. So far.

choochooo · 24/06/2017 06:44

Oh blissful I'm so sorry. Can you get a scan today to find out what's happening? Sending you a hug.

I definitely recommend debriefs after birth. You forget so much of what happened that it can feel disjointed. My debriefing involved them going step by step through my birth notes, telling me what happened and why that decision was made. It totally made me understand more and I felt like I was back in control because I had all the facts. Like, I had no idea my baby had turned! That's why I had a EMCS. I must have been told at the time but I didn't remember. It was wonderful knowing there was nothing I could have done to change that outcome.

Also I found out I was cleared by surgeon for vbac which was what I really wanted. So it made me happy.

I found out loads of funny bits too like things I'd said and bits that I'd forgotten about my first minutes with my son, which I now treasure ❤️

RainyDayBear · 24/06/2017 07:31

Oh blissful I hope it's just a scare. Crossing fingers for you.

I felt really good when I woke up this morning (probably because I had a lie in and DP got up with DD, he's a star), but a touch of nausea has just crept in so I feel so reassured again!

Troika · 24/06/2017 07:40

Morning everyone
Flowers for blissful

Nausea for me is still very minor Emily, with just the odd wave of it being more intense. Last time I was puking my guts up from about 4 weeks and couldn't move without retching so this is good. Even if I still have it to come at least it has started later so will hopefully last less time.

I have three positive birth stories. All completely different experiences but did all 3 with just TENS and paracetamol and no complications. I had a cervical prolapse after my second but they just pushed it back in and it was fine. Hopefully this one will go as smoothly if it gets that far. Although I'm almost tempted to have all of the drugs just to see what I've been missing out on Wink

EmilyK83 · 24/06/2017 08:38

lookatthemoon Thanks...I love how there's no "normal", I'm so glad I joined this board to see what others are experiencing too!

Bingle glad that your midwife is lovely! That afterthoughts session sounds like such a good idea!

choo is that something that you were offered as standard? Must be so lovely to have heard all the things you'd forgotten!

Rainy A lie in? Bliss!

Troika glad you're feeling ok - and good to hear positive stories too Smile

Seem to be feeling ok this morning, it's still my bowels that are the biggest issue...tmi sorry! Have been upping the fibre intake to see if that will help...off out with my sister later to try and find her a bridesmaid dress so hoping for a symptom-free day!

Emwahs · 24/06/2017 09:11

@blissful thinking of you keep us update all fingers and toes crossed Flowers

@rainy a lie in for me today as husband is still away so I am not forced out of bed early he can't sit and do nothing and is always on the go it drives me crazy and he always makes me look lazy!

Not got s huge amount planned going go make the most of it and have a relaxed day apart from a bit of house work and dog walk. Wink

CoffeeAndCupcakes85 · 24/06/2017 09:48

Thinking of you Blissful. I really hope you're ok and that this is all just a scare Flowers.
