Similar to sleep paralysis mrsbluebell?

LapinR0se · 21/05/2017 08:10

I had McDonald's at 3pm yesterday which was amazing but I've not been able to face anything since. No clue what to try eating for breakfast

Mrsbluebell17 · 21/05/2017 08:16

Tiptop I didn't know it had a name but yes seems like that! Was horrible Sad I had to get up and go and sit downstairs as I felt so panicked after. Not fun!

Oysterbabe · 21/05/2017 08:26

I wonder when this horrible taste in my mouth will go. I can't remember anything from my first pregnancy and it was only 2 years ago 🙈
Are any of you planning on NCT? I booked my place on the course after the 12 week scan, they fill up fast round here.

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 21/05/2017 08:29

@Oysterbabe Ooo yes, I was waiting till after tomorrow's scan to book my place in NCT. Worried about places now! Confused

That taste is awful, isn't it?! Metallic and mucusy all at once. I swear it's half of what contributes to my queasiness!! Sad

Mrsbluebell17 · 21/05/2017 08:32

Hi all. As a first timer can anyone tell me more about NCT as you have to pay for it don't you? Would you recommend it?

Oysterbabe · 21/05/2017 08:46

I did it and it the cost varies by area but it's about £200 for the course where I am. The course content itself isn't amazing, there was little I didn't already know, but the teacher was lovely and did help me feel more confident about it all. The only thing I used from the course really was a visualisation they taught us for breathing during labour.

The reason to do NCT is it will put you in touch with 6 other women with babies the same age. We whatsapped constantly and met for a weekly Wine and Whine as we called it, found a nice pub garden, put down a sheet, threw the babies in a pile and gossiped Grin This continued for a year while everyone was on maternity. Now we meet monthly for a baby free night out. I still meet up with one of the girls every week with our babies. We have a bit more in common than we do with the others and are both trying for our second (well obviously I'm not trying anymore)
For me it was definitely worthwhile and helped my sanity during the difficult first year. It is potluck as to whether you get a nice group though I guess :)

DoctorDonnaNoble · 21/05/2017 08:52

Hey all. Still trying not to be anxious after my reassurance scan measured name 8 days smaller than LMP date suggests. I go back for another scan on the 30th. It's really hard to not expect something to go wrong.

TipTop333 · 21/05/2017 09:21

Mrsbluebell I get it a fair bit and the good news is that once you know what it is you can relax a lot more when it happens and not force the 'wake up' as it were. Mine a generally coupled with hallucinations (very normal for sleep paralysis) and I actually had one last night - I hallucinated that my daughter was in the room and next to my bed and banging on the duvet to wake me up but I couldn't and I couldn't move. I worked out what was happening and just went back to sleep!

TipTop333 · 21/05/2017 09:24

I did NCT and was a bit gutted that I didn't get the experience others did. I had read too many books beforehand so knew all the info, and nobody was walking distance from me and without a car it made meet ups tricky. We did meet centrally once a week initially but it died down and I didn't have much in common. Eventually one moved away, and then I did, and now we're not in touch outside of general Facebook.
I made much better friends locally once she was born doing baby classes!

DoctorDonnaNoble · 21/05/2017 09:34

My best mum friend I met through my NCT class. We won't be doing it again though. From that group there's two others due this autumn (October and November!) so I think I'll be ok for zoo dates and coffee in mat leave (esp as I'll be having less time off this time).

MaryShelley1818 · 21/05/2017 10:02

Hi everyone!! Gosh you lot can talk...hope everyone is ok and those with sickness are feeling better soon!

Mumoftheark...what a scary time, at least all is well with baby xx

I'm still eating my body weight in any food I can get my hands on...I had a kebab last night as DP is working away.

Got my scan and NIPT tests on Tuesday, I'm so ridiculously nervous I could just sit and sob.

MaryShelley1818 · 21/05/2017 10:04

Oh and booked a course of 6 sessions of pregnancy yoga 😊

Carley27 · 21/05/2017 10:11

9+1 today, feel like we're actually getting somewhere now 😀 have actually been craving fruit the last couple of days so my diet has been much better. Struggling with being hungry so often though!

Good luck for Tuesday MaryShelley, hope it all goes well.

It's so hard not to worry doctordonna, I'm sure you will feel better after your next scan. Hope it comes round quick for you.

Sounds like you met a good group oyster! Hoping for an experience like yours.

MumOfTheArk so glad that you're ok but what a fright that must have given you!!

sizeofalentil · 21/05/2017 11:36

8+2 today. Morning, noon and night sickness. Got booking appointment on weds, then have paid for a private scan (I had groupon credit to use up) for the Saturday.

Oysterbabe · 21/05/2017 11:39

I have my booking appointment tomorrow. They've already said we'll be referred straight to a consultant because of my daughter's heart and her being early. I'll be interested to know what extra monitoring we'll have.

pauseplayrepeat · 21/05/2017 12:50

Glad everything turned out to be fine mumoftheark, bet you could have done without the stress!

13+2 and the morning sickness seems to have been replaced by blinding tension headaches Sad I'm thankful it's not both at the same time but...really...

Going to give reflexology a go this week and see if it helps. Anyone found it helped with sleeping/headaches? Acupuncture helped in my last pregnancies but can't get an appt this week!

MontyPants · 21/05/2017 13:37

Wow, I haven't been on for a couple of days. Lots to catch up on!
Can't believe what happened with your scan mumoftheark but thank god everything was ok.
I'm feeling a bit annoyed as my scan letter has still not arrived. 12 weeks tomorrow, and no idea when I'm gonna see my baby. Definitely ringing the hospital tomorrow if the letter doesn't come in the post.

ScotsLamb · 21/05/2017 14:12

pauseplayrepeat I thought reflexology was one thing to avoid when pregnant! I'm now hoping I read it wrong somewhere or I'm getting mixed up. Off to do some research. I could do with some form of relaxation.

Just booked a private scan for 11 weeks. I'm away with work for two weeks from 29th and the only day all the family are together is 4th June before I head away again with work so private scan booked for then and then we can tell them the hopefully good news. Not sure what I'll do if it isn't good news.

Mumoftheark · 21/05/2017 14:31

Gosh @MontyPants you should definitely have a scan date by now, wonder if your letter has been lost in the post.

I didn't do NCT with either of my two. However my area do a postnatal class (same as NCT but free) for first time mums. The mums I met have become my closest friends and 5 years after we met one was even my bridesmaid. Meeting local mum friends is a saviour in my opinion. I'm thinking of doing NCT this time to meet people. With my 2nd 3 of our group we're pregnant at the same time again so that was perfect. This time it's just me so need new mum friends with December babies :)

Thewinedidit · 21/05/2017 15:44

Is anyone that had bleeding still troubled by it? I went to epa Monday due to it and baby was ok thankfully but today I am bleeding a lot heavier and I don't know if this is all part of the implantation bleeding or if I need to go to EPA again. My first pregnancy was nowhere near this stressful.

Mrsbluebell17 · 21/05/2017 16:22

Thanks for the detailed advice re nct oyster. Much appreciated.

Thanks tiptop for your sleep paralysis and nct guidance too.

Re nct I looked and there's no classes at my local one at the moment. The next one is in the city which isn't easy for me to get to, but there are local baby groups so maybe I'll go to those instead and hope to meet some like minded new ish mums at the same time.

Sorry to hear some of you are still being sick. I still keep feeling sick throughout the day.

Monty definitely give them a call so you can get a date sorted.

Sorry to hear you're struggling wine. Maybe go to EPU for more reassurance.

dirtygrubbybikerchick · 21/05/2017 16:44

@pauseplayrepeat I'm getting more and more headaches too! First thing in the morning especially. Morning sickness still alive and present tho Sad

GadgetgirlUk · 21/05/2017 17:10

Ha! Found you, been lurking for a while! Am 12+1 today and feeling unbelievably sick. DH and I went to Handmade Burger today which is usually my favourite, took one bite of my vegan burger and felt like projectile vomiting 😞 Still have a week and half before "12" week scan so hoping everything is OK.

Mrsbluebell17 · 21/05/2017 17:13

Welcome back gadget. Sorry to hear you're struggling and have a while to wait yet for your scan. Hope the wait doesn't go too slowly for you.

Pause and biker I was complaining of a headache yesterday and this morning too. I didn't associate it with the pregnancy but perhaps it is related.
