Thanks for the thoughts Carlotta. We are thinking about me doing the first so many months and then DH doing two months. We need to work out the finances but we think it's going to make sense in all ways.

Zaberwocky · 30/05/2017 21:30

I think she bought it a month or so ago! I'll double check with her 🙂 I did find a few reviews here;

CarlottaJo · 30/05/2017 21:31

Do they get SMP? I'm NHS so my maternity is quite good, not sure what his would be like. I think he'd be reluctant to take half a year off too being a teacher. I won't be having a year though I don't think, probably 9 months with added on AL, we couldn't afford the months with me getting no pay unfortunately x

There's not loads - but enough to convince me along with playing with it that it looks like a really good buy!

CarlottaJo · 30/05/2017 21:32

My friend said she loved seeing the bond change with her OH and her DD when he was off xx

Bisquick · 30/05/2017 21:42

Just felt too awkward to chase today. Will call tomorrow if I don't hear anything!
The mothercare journey looks really nice!
We've picked a BabyZen YOYO - mostly because of how light it is + relatively easy to fold.

glastogal · 30/05/2017 21:43

Definitely going to be me taking all the time off.. sadly without any SMP or anything as I don't qualify and even if I got a job tomorrow I wouldn't get enough weeks in to qualify. Dammit.

Glad you have found a pram zaber - especially since you have got to see it in action 😀

I'm excited for all the scan pics on Thursday. Not long to wait now!!

I'm with Carlotta on the parental leave.. all mine Grin although we would both prefer it was me at home with baby anyway. I think it's great that shared leave has been introduced though, I bet it works great for some people.

Anyone had any success with a doppler at home? Just picked up a cheap one on ebay for a bit of fun.

Beardy1 · 31/05/2017 07:21

carlotta me and dh are both nhs and have thought about taking shared leave but have decided for me to take around 8 months. Yet to figure it out as I'm currently going through the process of figuring out what I get as I'm on fixed contract until June 2018. Eek!! Watch this space!!

Beardy1 · 31/05/2017 08:20

Hi all, has anyone got any tips on flight socks? I've been told to wear them by the mw for our holiday flight in just over a week. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

CarlottaJo · 31/05/2017 08:56

Oooh @Beardy1 where are you going? I'm super jealous. I think Boots sell flight socks, you'll just need under the knee ones.

I'm a member of the feel better in week 10 feel grim in week 11 club! Very nauseous past 3 days, and also very grumpy haha. My OH is having a wonderful time with me. We're off up to Edinburgh today though, it's a gorgeous day Easter Smile

LapinR0se · 31/05/2017 08:57

Can you believe a colleague at work yesterday asked me if I am pregnant?! I'm not even very close to her.
She said oh Lapin have you got something to tell me??? I said No...? And she goes yes you do and prodded me in my belly !!!
So embarrassing

Chamonix1 · 31/05/2017 09:11

Beardy
I'm going away Friday for a week, got my flight socks from boots. They had boots own and one other make, I got the other make as were half off. They come to just below the knee. Smile not the prettiest of socks but will do the job!

Carley27 · 31/05/2017 09:26

Oh my god Lapin Shock that's shocking, I can't believe anyone would have the cheek to say that!

Peachi82 · 31/05/2017 10:34

Lapin, this is very rude!

Regarding the pram, I thought we probably get a very cheap second hand one as an emergency, I want to carry the baby most of the time in a sling and will just get a nice coat that covers both of us. And then later on, we get a better buggy, because we will use a buggy for a lot longer. Not sure if this is a good plan or not... We will see.......

Not been sick yet today and had a good night's sleep, I feel a lot more refreshed.

Bisquick · 31/05/2017 10:52

I bought flight socks from Boots as well. They got a bit loose after a few washes which defeats the purpose I imagine - but cheap enough to replace (and they can become regular socks once they're a bit loose).
Lapin that is so rude! Why would anyone ever think it's a good idea to ask if someone is pregnant? Either they are and they don't want to tell you or they aren't and who knows how they feel about that! There's no upside (apart from a ridiculous ego boost).

I once had an acquaintance on FB message me to say are you pregnant - your recent picture suggests you're either pregnant or have had one too many tiramisus. Hmm

Southy84 · 31/05/2017 11:28

Sorry you're still feeling so ill peachi hope telling your bfs parents goes well.

So glad your scan went well drdonna :) lovely scan pics

Thanks carley and glasto we had a lovely holiday, weird being back to reality now though!

Sorry to hear about your oh parents carlotta dementia is so cruel :(

Hope you're ok mrsbluebell Ive got myself all worried about Friday too, I just find pregnancy such a anxious time!

Id definitely chase the dr bisquick don't feel bad its been long enough to wait.

Glad you had a nice weekend lixon I am a bridesmaid in a couple of months and haven't told the bride to be yet.... I'm terrified about the dress not fitting Sad

How frustrating with the midwife situation brens! That sounds annoying to say the least!

Feeling your pain on the double buggy situation oyster I am so torn about what to do, I don't want to part with our single but don't think it will work not having a double... but I don't like any doubles really!

beardy I also got flight socks from boots :)

lapin I am Shock about what your colleague said!! How rude!! And bisquick what did you say back to your facebook acquaintance!?

Hi to anyone Ive missed.
I called the dr today to say Ive still not heard from a midwife or had a scan app, and got told I wouldn't hear anything until I'm 12 weeks, well I know that's not true but I couldn't even be bothered to argue! Will just sit here until I'm huge and when I finally get picked up out of the system and asked why I didn't chase it I will just respond with I was told to wait! (Feeling annoyed)

Bisquick · 31/05/2017 12:00

It was just an FB message so I just replied saying haha lol, while fuming inside.

Finally called the doctor and his receptionist said all looking reassuring and normal with bloods etc. She's waiting for last set of results on toxoplasmosis hence the delay apparently. Anyway, will try to relax now, while counting down to scan tomorrow morning.

I'm still throwing up twice a day at 10+4. Those of you whose nausea has finally eased - when did it start to get better?

My mum is coming to visit next week so really hoping I'll be able to enjoy her cooking!

Carley27 · 31/05/2017 12:20

Southy annoying that you haven't heard anything re MW or scan :S
I'm being BM soon too and was worried about dress but they said they can take it out 1-2 sizes so should be fine! I think it depends on the style of the dress but I'm sure they have all sorts of tricks to make it fit if needbe!

Bisquick the rudeness of some people is unbelievable! Good you finally got some news about your bloods and all looking good :)

mamalovesviolet · 31/05/2017 12:44

I was looking at the Phil and Teds doubles. But I got confused with all the options and different seats.

This buggy will definitely have to be tried out first unlike my trusty Mamas and Papas single which I still like loads.

Zaberwocky · 31/05/2017 13:46

Lapin ! I'd give her a bloody slap and probably tell her not to be so bloody rude!

Haha. Well. One pram sorted. I'm still on the lookout for a pram/pushchair for running! I came to the conclusion I was never going to get everything I wanted in one travel system.

Bisquick without wanting to upset you, I'm 13 weeks and the nausea is still going strong! Whilst I appreciate that your FB friend is a prize twunt, I now desperately want a tiramisu!

Brens13 · 31/05/2017 14:05

Southy that's terrible - I'd be going mad! Can you find the number for your local midwife team and call them directly? It doesn't seem right at all.

Bisquick · 31/05/2017 14:11

Southy that's annoying af. Surely you need to have your 12 week scan booked in! Grr on your behalf!

Peachi82 · 31/05/2017 14:41

Twunt! Never heard this! Made me laugh out loud in the middle of the office!

Zaberwocky · 31/05/2017 14:46

Peachi Grin bugger ... now I'm trying to think where I heard it from!
