Fingers crossed this works, no idea how to make a thread but giving it my best shot. Let the May babies continue!

Wow barnes congratulations! That's insanely quick! Did you make it to hospital in time?

Congratulations too to peach. Can't remember if I already said??

This little one is over a week later than it's big brother. Hmf.

PeachIcedT · 20/05/2017 14:11

Congratulations @Barnes79 , 2 hours! Glad no treatment needed for the shingles, hope you can get the tongue tie sorted out quickly.

lullaby23 · 20/05/2017 14:27

Crikey barnes no messing around there, so all those contractions you had early must have been helping after all? Congratulations, lovely photo and good news the shingles hasn't affected baby.

EsmesBees · 20/05/2017 14:35

Wow Barnes that's very quick for a first timer. Congratulations! Great news on the shingles. If you want to get the tongue tie sorted so you can breastfeed, it's pretty cheap to get it done privately if you don't want to wait for the NHS.

Due date tomorrow and no sign of anything. I'm being sent for a growth scan next week as the bump is showing no growth over the last two weeks. Both me and the midwife thinks that's because the head is engaged and the bump has dropped loads, but I suppose they need to follow procedure.

uptown8617 · 20/05/2017 14:37

Wow, congratulations to the all the new babies. It's nice to read some positive birth stories on the other thread. Hope you recover well Barnes.

teainbed · 20/05/2017 15:29

Congratulations @Barnes79 !

mightymouse76 · 20/05/2017 15:32

Congrats @Barnes79 !
Lovely pic. My boy is also tongue tied but I'm managing to bf after getting a lactation consultant in to help me with his latch (best seventy quid I've spent ever). I have a ton of info on the procedure too if you'd like me to send. I'm sorry I can't remember where you are but if London based, Kings has the fastest turnaround. Wishing you a speedy recovery

MrsJW15 · 20/05/2017 15:34

Congratulations @Barnes79!

Quick question - and possible TMI - but just looking for reassurance! I've been losing my plug for a week and had some brown blood after my first sweep. In the last 24 hours I've had some streaks of red blood as well. I'm fairly sure that's ok but just wanted to check!

EsmesBees · 20/05/2017 15:41

MrsJW, have a Google for images of bloody show. That's ok, but just red blood (like a period) probably needs to be checked out.

Autumnsweater · 20/05/2017 15:47

Congratulations peach barnes and dream!!

I had an attempted sweep today on my due date but cervix still closed so feeling a bit demoralised, been having lots of pains and braxton-hicks in the last week so was convinced was further forward than that.. silly of me but there you go!

MrsJW15 · 20/05/2017 15:59

Thanks @EsmesBees. I'm sure that's what it is. Hopefully that's a good sign. I'm a bit demoralised after being told how good everything looked 48 hours ago - still uncomfortable but not much else.

FoxMulder · 20/05/2017 16:37

I'm feeling a bit fed up too. Don't know what to do with myself anymore.

RasperryInAMelon · 20/05/2017 16:39

@Badgerbird lots of regular contractions today since 7am, every 10 mins or so but can have times when it goes upto 15-20 mins.

Not particularly painful, but I've been having a very watery discharge today, will be calling MLU later just to update them.

RasperryInAMelon · 20/05/2017 16:40

@FoxMulder same here lovely, just want to meet my baby now. The thought that it could still be 2+ weeks is really getting me down 😔

teainbed · 20/05/2017 16:56

That sounds disappointing @Autumnsweater

@RasperryInAMelon sounds like things are happening!

@FoxMulder Flowers for you, what's happening? Anything or nothing? Hope you feel better soon. Have a whinge if you need to!

BabyTea had his first bottle of expressed milk today. Took 70ml. Bit sad that he did ok with it but it is a good thing really. I don't want to go out often but a haircut would be good and I would like to be able to go to my older DS's end of term play.

FoxMulder · 20/05/2017 17:39

Nothing happening here. 40+3 today. DS came at 39. Oh dear, I'm comparing them already! Just bored now, can't think of anything nice to do.

MissMooMoo · 20/05/2017 17:58

Congrats peach and barnes and anyone else I have missed!
40+3 today. Had my 40 week appt and midwife did a sweep. Cervix is still high but very soft and she was able to get a finger in and sweep around, could feel baby's head etc.
Baby is 3/5 engaged and she thinks I am in early labour anyways.
Had a bit of eggwhite jelly stuff come out straight after and lots of cramps and back pain but they seem to have tailed off now.
DH and I are going out for some food locally and then I may even try sex.
Really hope I deliver before my next appt next Sat when I will be 40+10!

MrsJW15 · 20/05/2017 17:59

Same @FoxMulder - lots of discomfort but nothing starting. And struggling to know how to fill the days other than constantly questioning if anything is happening!

newbieho · 20/05/2017 18:08

@teainbed which breast pump are you using?

vanilla8 · 20/05/2017 18:34

Congrats @Barnes79 @dreamofhungarianlanterns @PeachIcedT

39+4 and no sign, just increased discharge and irregular braxton hicks. Tried sex this morning and just about to wash the skirting boards and a few doors with sugar soap!

Sweep on Wednesday if I want it.

Anyone recommend a sling/stretchy wrap.?DH liked the baby bjorn miracle when we tried them on at John Lewis, I think because it was easy to put on!

teainbed · 20/05/2017 19:13

@newbieho it's an Avent manual one. I've had a couple of them and they've always worked well for me. They tend to not be rated as highly in reviews for some reason. Maybe they just suits my boobs!

teainbed · 20/05/2017 19:19

@FoxMulder that's so hard. And anything that might bring relief is pretty temporary. Hope your OH being sympathetic and looking after you. Flowers

Autumnsweater · 20/05/2017 19:35

Fox MrsJW Rasperry I feel the same. Can't do most of the things I like doing due to annoying late pregnancy symptoms (hip pain, heartburn, carpal tunnel) and feel like I'm wasting this time off without the baby when I know I'll want it at the other end..

Dates, sex, walking, curry, raspberry leaf tea, gym ball - none of it has done anything!!

EsmesBees · 20/05/2017 19:37

I'm fed up too. Torn between wanting to embrace our last days as a family of three, and wanting this baby out ASAP. It's really hard to plan anything when you don't know know when labour will start. Plus, I keep stressing about my childcare arrangements for when I finally do go in to labour.

MrsMoo and Raspberry sounds like things are well on the way for you both!!

BouncingBlueberry · 20/05/2017 19:40

Can I join the fed up club? Utterly miserable now and just want to cry. Just been working out maternity pay as HR finally wrote to me about my entitlements. Does anyone know if we get taxed/national insurance/pension and Student Loan reductions whilst on reduced pay?
