Fingers crossed this works, no idea how to make a thread but giving it my best shot. Let the May babies continue!

And I love all the baby news and photos, I am just struggling to keep up with the thread in my woozy state but with you all in spirit!

teainbed · 30/05/2017 12:41

Hi @notasillysausage hang in there, not long to go now!

@Rabbitykins55 you could, see if expressing works for you but you don't necessarily want to stash too far in advance as the milk you make now will be different from the milk you make in 6 weeks.

Lovely picture @MissMooMoo !

RasperryInAMelon · 30/05/2017 16:11

40+6 today... just been for a second attempted sweep aaaaaaaand nothing. Still posterior and closed. Am I even actually pregnant!!??... 🙈

I've booked a 3rd and final sweep for Saturday and outpatient induction is scheduled for Monday morning. Silver lining I guess is that LO should be here by Wednesday / Thursday next week!!

teainbed · 30/05/2017 16:19

Argh @RasperryInAMelon that's a shame! Good that you've got a plan at least.

BabyTea and I have had a good day! He spaced his feeds out quite nicely on his own so I didn't feel like he was feeding all day. He's done some proper naps too so I've been able to do a few bits and sit down as well. We even managed to nip to the shops to get some clothes for DD1 although it was the quickest trip ever!

teainbed · 30/05/2017 16:24

Should have said I got some nice bras from Jojo delivered today. I was a bit surprised that the sizing was S, M and L etc rather than cup sizes but they fit really nicely. Probably not great if you've got very big boobs but they feel lovely on.

I'm sure breastfeeding is slightly cheaper than formula because you don't have to buy the milk but for me it's definitely not free! By the time I've bought bras every few months, pads, a pump, steriliser etc not to mention the extra food I eat it all adds up!

mrspage1985 · 30/05/2017 17:30

Had an attempted sweep today, cervix not open so couldn't do it properly, though she did say cervix is soft.
So irritable today - everyone has spent the last few months saying what a big baby and he will def be early, that now I am so annoyed. I don't do patience at the best of times. Had so many people calling and texting, I know they mean well and just care, but I seriously wish I could just switch off my phone! (I daren't because then people will be popping round!)

Going back into my moaning misserable hole now AngryAngry

newbieho · 30/05/2017 18:20

@teainbed The graph is very motivating, thank you!

@PeachIcedT @Sipperskipper I agree that BF is hard to learn. I wish I knew it before the baby arrived do I could prepare mentally and avoid shedding do many tears. We'll get there.

@MissMooMoo Hi Felix!

@teainbed Good news on tea baby settling in 😀

Thank you @dreamofhungarianlanterns @mightymouse76 we did manage the visit to the BF group (incl. trip by the bus and by train, nappy change, one hour and a half feed) and both survived. Baby newbie was referred to King's for assessment so I'm waiting for an appointment letter. There was baby mini meltdown on the way but I kept saying to myself what @EsmesBees said. We even managed to pop in quickly to two shops on the way back home. I know it may sound silly but I am so proud of myself 💪 It gave me a confidence boost so important for the first time mum. Thanks everyone for your support. This group is a godsend.

@CoxsOrangePippin I have in mind your message too. Gentle hugs 🌷 would you try a pillow with a hole in the middle? I've used one while being pregnant as the office chair seemed to be very uncomfortable.

PeachIcedT · 30/05/2017 19:05

@newbieho I am super impressed, bus and train! I feel a very long way off that. I have to take baby to an outpatient appointment for her hearing test this week and I'm nervous enough about that, and that's with driving there with my husband! I hope that's given you confidence that you can do this. And hope you soon get an appointment for the tongue tie.

My mum came round today and it happened to coincide with beginning of baby's nap, meaning me and DH popped out to the local pub. It was such a freedom! Although I was obsessively checking my phone, out and back within an hour and drank less than quarter of a pint. Baby never even realised we'd gone.

EsmesBees · 30/05/2017 19:47

I'm super impressed too newbie! When you said you were going, I assumed you were driving or walking. You should feel very proud of yourself.

Mrspage and raspberry I had two failed sweeps with dd1, no signs of labour at all, induction booked for 40+12, and she arrived spontaneously and quickly at 40+10, so please don't give up hope.

Fox that's a lovely post about having a newborn. I'd forgotten how amazing they are too.

First day with dd1 at nursery here. It was so peaceful. Basically stayed in bed for most of it watching Netflix and feeding, apart from one trip out for a coffee. Feel a million times better than yesterday.

CoxsOrangePippin · 30/05/2017 20:56

@newbieho a doughnut cushion doesn't seem to help, but I should probably just be more patient - with the infection and then the stitches undoing, I suppose it hasn't even had a 'real' ten days to heal...

@esmesbees, @peachicedt, @newbieho am impressed with your trips for coffee, pub and bf cafe! I aspire to get that mobile and you're proof it happens Grin went outside the flat today for the first time - just a little walk to the communal garden and back - then needed a good nap and some more painkillers!

mrspage1985 · 30/05/2017 21:15

Thanks @EsmesBees it's good hear stories like that - I find myself clinging to them with a ridiculous amount of hope!! Xx

1004Rise · 30/05/2017 21:51

Wow

MrsJW15 · 30/05/2017 22:39

Good work getting to the pub @PeachIcedT! And @newbieho I'm very impressed with your trip out.

@mrspage1985 that's so frustrating! People saying you'll be early is so unhelpful and the messages drove me mad.

Big news here is that we are finally home! I nearly flipped at the midwife on the post natal ward today as it took so long, including basically an hour debating who should give us what paper work. There was a brief suggestion we might have to do another ward round which i said I would refuse.

MrsJW15 · 30/05/2017 22:46

Sorry hit send too soon!

Anyway we got there in the end and home is lovely! Now just trying to calm the flow of visitors.

Milk has come in and baby W has had a disruptive day of tests and things so we've had lots of small feeds and some posset. Hope she settles soon and my boobs get a bit less solid!

mightymouse76 · 31/05/2017 04:50

Congrats @MrsJW15 !

I'm in the hourly feed zone...ten minutes at a time...argh!!! 🙈 sooo sleep deprived now....3 weeks today...roll on the bit where it gets easier...

Paige84 · 31/05/2017 05:01

mighty I'm so with you. This little guy has also vomited all over us both twice since midnight. So exhausted and DP just left for work. First day alone on zero sleep and have so much to get done. Trying not to get overwhelmed by the day already as it's not even 6am! On the plus side, the birds outside sound glorious and I've just been watching a deer potter around in the garden.....

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 31/05/2017 07:24

Well done mrsjw

Yep I'm also with you ladies, DP just left for first day back at work and before he'd even gone I had 4 fountain pees and 3 poops all over changing mat. This would normally be dps first day change duty but he was downstairs making me a coffee listening to it all unfold. Grrrr.

1004Rise · 31/05/2017 07:29

Just realised yesterday's post didn't work at all 😳

@newbieho wow, I'm super impressed with your travelling yesterday you should be proud of yourself!

@MrsJW15 Welcome Home! Hope you had a good night!

@mightymouse76 yesterday with the sling was much better, we hired 2 from an online company and the one I tried yesterday was a lot less stretchy so she felt more secure. She was in it for about 3 hours in the morning and I had 2 hands which was awesome!! Unfortunately it ended when she has a poosplosion which meant it had to go in the wash but was great while it lasted! Hope your consultation goes well today😊

Hang in there @RasperryInAMelon and @mrspage1985 fingers crossed it starts happening for you soon

@CoxsOrangePippin hugs 💐 & 🍰 hope it all gets better for you soon

Went to doctors yesterday for new patient appointment which meant I left Baby Rise at home with my Mum, was away for a whole 30 minutes and came back to my Mum, Gran and Auntie singing random songs to her to keep her calm.... to be honest I'd have gone to sleep just to escape their signing 😱😉

newbieho · 31/05/2017 08:20

@Paige84 @dreamofhungarianlanterns good luck with your first day alone. Take it easy and don't be too hard for yourself. Remember to get some rest too.

Sonnet18 · 31/05/2017 09:03

Wow, I really do take my hat off to the breastfeeding mums. You really are way tougher than me and I have a lot of respect for you all!
Baby sonnet doing well, signed off from midwife yesterday.
Hope all those overdue are keeping their chins up and getting as much rest as possible between now and their new arrivals! Looks like we may have some June babies on our hands!

CoxsOrangePippin · 31/05/2017 09:35

@1004rise @newbieho thank you for sympathy. So many varied experiences on here it makes it hard to feel alone Smile

Little Pippin has regained his birth weight!

CoxsOrangePippin · 31/05/2017 09:37

@paige84 @dreamofhungarianlanterns I'm rooting for you! Hope it goes ok.

Sipperskipper · 31/05/2017 10:02

Impressed with those of you journeying out!! Currently in the drs & dh is outside in the car with baby sipper. We've been on a couple of (very very short!) walks out round the block, and going to venture to the country park today (5 min drive, will be another short walk!). I feel ok with DH with me but the thought of when he goes back to work next week is terrifying.

Sending best wishes to those of you having difficult recoveries.

FoxMulder · 31/05/2017 10:19

We have been out 3 times. 1st was on day 1 when we had to go 45 mins to the hospital for the newborn checks! Normally they come to your house but no-one was available over the BH weekend!

teainbed · 31/05/2017 10:44

Good luck those of you flying solo soon! You'll be fine. You'll probably enjoy it eventually!

Sympathies to the frequent feeders overnight! We also had a busy one which I know is normal by still annoys me as I know he can do longer stretches.
