@newbieho that's good that he doesn't seem phased- but the poos do seem to change don't they? Hope you feel better soon.

Yes, still pregnant. Can't believe there are so few of us left. Hope the spotting turns into something vanilla.

Barnes if you'd like some unsolicited advice, then my DD was exactly the same, she would happily take the easy to access milk on let down, and then fall asleep, waking up shortly after still hungry. I was advised to strip her down, tickle her feet and blow on her face, and basically do everything to encourage one long feed rather than many tiny ones.

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 25/05/2017 11:31

Mighty ha ha re swapping for the night, we already told the hospital staff that if they had made a mistake and given us wrong baby they were just to keep quiet as we rather liked him. we were back on 3 solid feeds in the night last night which is way better than the cluster feeding some of you are getting I know but come morning when he went down to sleep DP tried to cuddle me and I was like 'don't touch me, desperate to sleep and I know you'll move at some point'. He took the hint Grin. Hope things improve for you, you can only do what you can do and mum needs to be healthy for baby to thrive Flowers

Autumn Shock you should do some sort of motivational exercise video you sound like you're racking up more daily steps than 95% of the rest of the population!

Parenting hack #1
If you don't have a soft brush for babies luscious locks using DPs beard is a great substitute and creates exactly the same neat and tidy baby hair effect.

Parenting hack #2
When finding self at supermarket with baby and sun so high in sky that car affords no shade whatsoever and DP is trying to bag up loose shopping from trolley into boot, a bin store affords relief for mum and baby. Whilst you're there, you really may as well wang a boob out and feed to complete the happy picture Wink

Anyone else done anything really weird re baby care?!

1004Rise · 25/05/2017 11:33

@newbieho feel like a whole new woman 😉

@Autumnsweater golden is too daft to notice, also only 11 months so there's something else round the corner. My lab is a bit grumpy, think that's more about missing me and being in a strange house, hopefully when my slings turn up I'll be able to take him out for a walk (too many kerbs to negotiate with a pram after a section 🙁) and that'll help him settle a better. He has given her hair a "wash" a couple of time though 🤔

WishIWasSleeping · 25/05/2017 12:33

Congratulations Peas!

Wow Red - quite a day! Glad you're both ok now. x

Hot day here again and we're off to watch my nephews sports day... I'm not sure why that sounded better to playing in the garden at home to be honest!! Smile

Badgerbird · 25/05/2017 15:21

Wow redblu!!! What an entrance to the world and a shock for you all. Hope you are all doing ok and congratulations Smile

Oh god barnes and mighty I hope you're not feeling tooooo frazzled today and have managed to sneak a nap.

Oh barnes and newbie that clusterfeed marathon looks/sounds like some form of torture Confused You mamas are made of strong stuff! I remember tea talking about them too.I'm scared...

rise that sounds like a very successful night :)

autumn it sounds like it could be the beginning of things but as you say could be days yet....

Badgerbird · 25/05/2017 15:23

Don't forget me! I'm still preggo!! Smile
Another one for your list tea
Although to be fair I seem to be a freak of nature and enjoy being pregnant Confused

mrspage1985 · 25/05/2017 15:46

Very definitely still pregnant Shock nails and toes are now matching after this mornings manicure and pedicure combo, so baby is welcome anytime soon....well once the heatwave has subsided somewhat - so all in all Sunday would be convenient (did u hear that baby I said Sunday!) xx

I think bean is still pregnant too? And unless I've missed an announcement MrsJW too.

1004Rise · 25/05/2017 16:12

Things I've learned today.... take painkillers before getting in the car... now I know why they don't want you driving for 6 weeks after a c-section Confused AND more importantly when you go out you need to take as many changes of clothes for you as you do for the baby, clean baby & sick coved Mum is not a good look!! Confused Definitely a rookie error! Blush

Still baby Rise got a cuddle from her Great Granny which made DGM's day!! Grin

jennymac31 · 25/05/2017 16:33

Afternoon ladies

Had a nightmare of an evening last night trying to get nate to sleep. Dh wasn't prepared to help as he wanted to get some sleep before returning to work today. Told him first thing in the morning that he won't get away with behaving like that again and he concided that he did behave like a dick!

Badgerbird · 25/05/2017 16:51

mrspage we've decided to have our baby on Sunday too! Now someone needs to let her know Wink

Last time I knew missmoo was still waitung to pop too...

Here's hoping to a better night for you all tonight jenny!

mightymouse76 · 25/05/2017 17:29

@jennymac31 oh man I empathise and sympathise. Have had some similar issues here. I have actually been volunteering to manage as much as poss on own at night as I'm bf, and want him to be as well rested as poss so he can help us in the day, but last night was a mega stress with a very fractious baby, and so DP stayed up a bit later with me. Had it thrown back at me today that we can't do things together, we need a system, etc etc so we're not so burnt out. He's 2 weeks old and I'm recovering from a section FFS. Show me a newborn that gives a shit about a system! I just want to feel supported whatever is happening, however tough it is. And we all know here it's tougher on us, regardless of how involved DPs are.
Ok rant over!!!

@1004Rise Lol on the clothing changes. Also had agonising afternoon on the car on Tuesday. Has to be the most uncomfortable seat type ever post surgery! I was in the back with LO too as to paranoid to leave him rear facing and unattended so couldn't recline the seats. And don't even get me started about speed bumps again..I thought they were bad enough when heavily pregnant!!

1004Rise · 25/05/2017 17:35

@mightymouse76 exactly what you said, cursing myself for having a car with sports suspension, in the back seat from the same paranoia and potholes AngryAngryAngry

LouiseJayne23 · 25/05/2017 19:09

I'm still pregnant too! Although not for much longer... plug went this morning, waters went about an hour ago. Now just waiting...!

teainbed · 25/05/2017 19:10

I'm sorry to hear about unhelpful OH's. DH and I have had our moments over the years but I think once you muddle past this bit it's easier.

Division of labour is very personal to couples but I don't think men necessarily deserve a full nights sleep just because they're working (unless they're a brain surgeon maybe and the other exception would be driving I suppose). I have heard of couples splitting the nights, mum goes to bed at 8 or 9, dad stays up with baby and a bottle until midnight or 1 and gets to sleep 1-7 or whatever. Which gives everyone a bit of rest. Or dad does weekend nights but gets to nap during the day.

I don't think it's acceptable for a new mum trying to recover from giving birth to be dead on her feet basically!

EsmesBees · 25/05/2017 19:55

Good luck LouiseJayne sounds like it won't be long for you.

Completely agree with tea on sharing the nights. Looking after a newborn is way harder than most jobs. Even if you are breastfeeding there is still lots they can help with.
