Yes we are all fine. Still in complete shock, I had gone to the bathroom and didn't realise what was happening until she started crowning and felt the "ring of fire". From me shouting for help and her being born was literally a matter of minutes. He caught her as she was born. It was really scary. Had to then wait half an hour for the paramedics and another 1.5 hours for the midwifes.

I had second degree testing but was stitched at home, could have been so much worse.

The midwifes decided we had to go in to the hospital as baby Red was a bit cold, probably due to the half hour we were stuck on the bathroom floor! Also due to everything that happened we didn't get skin to skin straight away so she is having trouble latching on.

We are home now, just very tired

MrsJW15 · 24/05/2017 21:22

Wow @RedBlu how scary! Glad you are all ok but what an experience.

Sensible call @mrspage1985 - the hospital was so hot when we were in earlier! Coming home was frustrating but much more comfortable.

mightymouse76 · 24/05/2017 21:22

@RedBlu that is absolutely bonkers...huge well done for getting through it- what a shock! Sending hugs to you and your DP...what a huge thing to go through. A story to recount on LO's birthdays through the years...Congratulations on her (crazy) arrival!! Flowers

vanilla8 · 24/05/2017 21:34

Wow @RedBlu congratulations. Hope you recover from the shock soon and you have a better time with baby latching on. Well done to you and partner!

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 24/05/2017 21:36

Congratulations peas nice to hear about an induction that went how you wanted.

Oh red what an absolute shocker. Make sure you do / ask for what you need to process it. I've just read your post to DP and he said 'you see I told you what happened to us (emergency section under general anesthetic) was a blessing in disguise. Enjoy your little one you deserve it Flowers

Bright ahhh so nice to hear you're so in love with Rupert. They are divine aren't they.

Take heart those with tiny ones, ours is 8 days old today and last night went from midnight to 7.30 waking once for a big feed half way through. I feel amazing for a good stretch of sleep Smile I'm sure it was a one off and that's fine!

lullaby23 · 24/05/2017 21:44

Congratulations peas and wow redblu what a dramatic entrance for your little one. Not surprised you're shocked, hope things are a bit calmer now and they get the hang of latching ok.

EsmesBees · 24/05/2017 22:25

Oh my red that's one way to make an entrance to the world. Many congratulations, hope you all recover soon.

Tickyboovicki · 24/05/2017 22:52

Wow @RedBlu congratulations! What an entrance as well. Sending lots of love, glad to hear you are all doing ok

Autumnsweater · 24/05/2017 23:51

@redblu congratulations, I bet you are both a bit shocked to say the least though!

@1004rise @savagehk makes sense that. Must be so many other factors anyway. Intuitively I would have thought cloth comfier!

@mrspage1985 Grin me too I'm terrible in the heat!

Barnes79 · 25/05/2017 02:37

In the midst of a 5 hour cluster feed. 😫

dreamofhungarianlanterns · 25/05/2017 02:50

Hang in there Barnes plenty of nip cream and a face set with grim determination?! Brew

teainbed · 25/05/2017 04:16

Sympathies @Barnes79 been there!

We've just had to do a full change of clothes and blankets for a leaky nappy......Angry

mightymouse76 · 25/05/2017 05:29

@Barnes79 hope you slept! I had wide awake club from 8pm, followed by inconsolable screaming and feeding until 2am. Feeding again now. I feel amazing Confused

Really worried my antibiotics have made it into my breast milk as he was really struggling with farting and pooing last night. Seemed to be in pain with every fart and the poo is slightly mucusy almost? Going to alternate boob and bottle today (last day of course) to lessen the impact if that's the cause...feel so guilty on top of the sleep deprivation!!

On a positive, my pain is now manageable, which leads me to suspect I had the bladder infection pretty much since discharge...nobody checked my urine until I took myself to the Gp...I realise now that the pain was more than after pains! I was baffled and jealous when reading of women who felt great a week post section. I felt no better!!

Crikey I'm tired.

Congrats to those with new sleep thieves, and I look forward to seeing the FUC on here at 3am soon!

mightymouse76 · 25/05/2017 05:31

@dreamofhungarianlanterns fancy a little nighttime baby swap? Grin

Barnes79 · 25/05/2017 05:46

I may have underestimated the 5 hours. And he's just woken up again for another feed...

EsmesBees · 25/05/2017 06:37

mighty I could tell the antibiotics were affecting DD as her nappies were green and full of mucous. I just pressed on and regretted it as she didn't put any weight on that week and became really ill. So good idea to supplement, but if you are bottle feeding with mastisis don't forget to pump at the same time. Good news the antibiotics have made you feel better though.

Lots of sympathy Barnes, and seeing the tracker app took me back two years. Honestly, this bit gets better within just a few weeks. Is he feeding for very short bursts but over several hours then?

No sign of anything starting here. Had my last acupuncture session yesterday which hurt way more than the previous one, but nowt happened.

teainbed · 25/05/2017 07:23

@mightymouse76 what are you taking? Check the breastfeeding network website if you're not sure but the amounts coming through the milk are likely to be very small. There's probably no need to give formula (unless you want to of course!). Glad you're feeling better.

Sonnet18 · 25/05/2017 08:13

Oh redblu how frightening. I hope you are all ok now and just settling in to family life. Sounds like your baby might be a little drama queen as she gets older!
Congrats to all the births I may have missed- we are just settling in to life as a family of four so not really been online at all.
Hope all the mummies who are still pregnant are staying motivated and coping ok in this heat!
Milk is coming in now- not breast feeding- forgot this pain...makes it even better with a toddler pounding on your chest and demanding to be picked up and danced around with!!

1004Rise · 25/05/2017 08:14

Wow @RedBlu that's some way to make an entrance! Hope the 3 of you are feeling ok! 💐☕️🍰

So co-sleeping that's a revelation! Spent yesterday doing a lot of reading and asked HV about because I was worried about falling asleep with her when feeding at night. HV was really good, obviously she couldn't recommend it but she did point me in the direction of some stuff to read. We slept from just before midnight all the way through til 7, with just one semi wake up for a feed about 5 am which we did lying down. Much calmer too because she was so close so only had to stir to wake me up. Don't think I could do it in the winter but I was impressed how I didn't move through the night. Definitely try again tonight to see if it wasn't a fluke!

@mightymouse76 glad you're starting to feel better!

@Barnes79 hugs, sounds like a tough night! Hope you get some rest today!

teainbed · 25/05/2017 08:57

So hot today, even up here! Could be nappy and vest day for BabyTea, though he might have some short dungarees somewhere.

Autumnsweater · 25/05/2017 10:12

@1004rise @barnes79 how are the pooches coping with the new arrival?

So I took both dogs to our usual agility class last night in the hopes of running this baby out Grin, DH came with me in case I was too successful!

Have definitely had some stirrings since - quite significant dragging/period type pains at the front and going around my back, with mild contractions every 10 mins at 2am for about an hour (fell back asleep) and continued for two hours when I woke up - just long enough for DH to decide to work from home, then hardly any since Grin. No blood/mucus show yet though.

Hoping things are moving along although I guess could still be days yet... Just walked the dogs and going to have a ball bounce in a bit once I've cooled down!

newbieho · 25/05/2017 10:16

Wow @RedBlu what an entree Shock

@Barnes79 Baby newbie is kind enough to do cluster feeds during the day. It sounds better but makes leaving the house impossible. I don't dare to interrupt his feeds as the punishment is endless loud screaming.

@mightymouse76 I have the same feeling on my mastitis antibiotics affecting baby newbie bowel movements. No poo since yesterday but at least the baby does not seem to get distressed.

@1004Rise Good night sleep does make a difference, doesn't it? Great to hear you've got some rest.

RasperryInAMelon · 25/05/2017 10:20

Congratulations to those who have recently welcomed new arrivals!

mightymouse76 · 25/05/2017 10:42

Thanks @EsmesBees that's pretty much my fear. He's posseting/puking more after breast and just doesn't seem as chilled. Bottle seems more relaxing. I've just figured out the hand pump for the first time and will pump and dump for 24 hours. Wish I'd had some clean expressed milk as a back up now- going to get some of those freezer bags and get going as soon as this crap is out of my system.

Thanks for the website @teainbed, it's nitrofurantoin which apparently does make it through in small doses but apparently isn't harmful in most cases. I def think it's upsetting his stomach though, so we'll have a day off boob. The gp didn't even ask if I was BF despite having baby with me at the time, and I was so poorly I forgot to question it . Amateur mistake...

Thanks @1004Rise !
Hope you have a lovely day- that goes for everyone!

Barnes79 · 25/05/2017 10:51

Esmes yes, he is. He starts dozing and not feeding so I take him off and he cries and roots so I swap sides and he starts eating like he's starved! He probably only slept for about 2 hours between 9.30pm yesterday and 6am this morning!

Autumn Pooch is doing well. He comes for the odd sniff but seems to be adjusting okay.
