Yet another new thread, because just like all the remaining posters the old one is about to go pop.

OP posts:

Mossie · 15/03/2007 15:15

Well, Piffle's muffins - should be called Piffins! - are in the oven now... ready to take out at about quarter to four!

Dolly I'm sure your stew will be lovely. I have only recently started cooking, and stew is one of the things I can make because it's very hard to get it wrong, I mean if I can make it how difficult can it be? Thanks for the bras!

Chocolatepenny happy birthday to your dh for Sunday; it's my dh's 29th on Saturday! We're not doing much though, it's my 30th on 4th April as well, so we'll probably have a joint 30th this time next year! I can pretend I'm a year younger then!

Kitty lol at Dawn French... you know that means you are obliged to eat a whole chocolate orange now don't you?

Morocco hope you enjoy the swimming!

Right I'm off to have a tidy upstairs, it's not nesting btw, the place is actually a mess!

Chocolatepenny · 15/03/2007 15:19

Thks Mossie, Happy Bdays to you both too and happy Muffin scoffing

Mossie · 15/03/2007 15:47

I can highly recommend Piffins! They're delicious!

Now I really am going to tidy up instead of MNing!

Piffle · 15/03/2007 16:28

Glad they turned out lovely for you Mossie.
Oooh went to Tk Maxx and got divine pram lambskin for £15.00 down from usual £45
It's going in the crib over the horrid plastic covered mattress!

I've had a very intense day of contractions.
I've just had 4 exactly 20 mins aprt am just sitting waiting to see if another turns up before I jump in a bath to truly test their reality or falseness

Mum keeps saying really helpful things, like
"I can tell by the shape he's coming out today"

Great news about Rosys little lad being born too! Wonder when Sazzy will get in to update us.

Golly the thought of plugging on like this for another week or 3 is really

Jaysecond · 15/03/2007 16:37

huge congrats to Rosy and hubby. Great news, hope you are all doing well and baby is being good for his Mum!! Looking forward to hearing about it all

Dolly, i might fet round to complaining, i was put out that i couldnt spk to the doc, then wehn the receptionist called back instead of my doc i was miffed, but thing is i REALLY cant be bothered right now, i might take it up with them when i next visit.... Good luck with your dinner for the girls tonight, sounds nice, wish someone would cook me a lovely meal!

Madhide, i applied for the mat allowence to start from the 19 Feb. I was a bit late in applying becasue my work dicked me about... but i have had confirmation today that it will be backdated to that date and will be paid into my bank next Tuesday, i have opted to be paid weekly, so then the next payment will be next Friday and its paid in arrears. Not sure if this helps at all, but give them a ring to chase it up, i did and they were quite helpful, good luck!

Muppet, i do have a support belt, which does help a little but at this stage it doesnt do anything, and i cant quite get the belt all the way under my bump as i am so big now..... but thanks for the thought! The pain isnt quite so bad today, i think its becasue i had a day of no lifting , no housework, and used the crutchs all day to bear the weight, I have been taking paracetamol every four hrs without fail, so i think all that combined may have something to do with the lessening of the pain!

I have also had my reflexology session this afternoon, which was amazing, the points that were really tender DIRECTLY related to aspects of the pregnancy, especially the uterus... which was really painful when touched and worked on.... She showed DH where he needs to press and has instruced him to do it at least three times a day!! so that coupled with the MW visit tomorrow, i have my fingers crossed the baby will come this weekend, infact i think i wil have a vindaloo tonight too!!

I cant believe that 16 of us, according to blondes list, are still waiting for babies, of course i know not everyone posts and some of the 16 may well have had them, but to our knowledge this is gospel! What is Boo's situation, i havnt managed to keep up, can someone enlighten me?

Right off to find something exciting for DD tea, she seems to be on a diet of bread and jam at the mo, followed by fruit pots.....not very varied but its all she wants, anyone got any ideas what a 14 mth can have?

Mossie · 15/03/2007 17:38

TK's is certainly great for bargains Piffle! I am due a trip soon, I want to get a full length towelling dressing gown, the one I have atm is dh's and it barely covers my growing bump or bum!

Jay your reflexology session sounds lovely!

I am a bit bored now, I might have a second bath, get me!

TheBlonde · 15/03/2007 17:43

Hi all
Any word from Boo?

Went to the clinic today, they seem a bit induction happy and wanted to book it for 41+3 which is too soon for my liking
Declined a sweep which seemed to shock the doc

Anyway no sign of labour here (40+2)

Mossie · 15/03/2007 17:50

Yes where is Boo, I wonder if she went naturally or if she had to be induced in the end? Or is still lurking somewhere waiting to pop one way or the other?

TheBlonde Liverpool Women's Hosi induce at 41+3 as well, which does worry me a little, I would prefer to leave it until 42 weeks if I go over, iyswim.

TheBlonde · 15/03/2007 18:06

I said I would be okay with 41+6 which they seemed happy enough with!

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 15/03/2007 18:47

I agree with you regarding sweeps Theblonde. I don't want anyone poking anything up there, thankyou very much

Piffle · 15/03/2007 18:51

they induce here 10 days past edd too, offer you a sweep at 41 wks

Well I've had a show adn contractions getting stronger and longer, and more regular. and more painful.
Am getting dd off to bed, will then take a shower and see what transpires
Am ever hopeful
If I wake up tomorrow without a baby I may start pulling hair out
You think on my 3rd child I'd know....
Not sure about Boo cos she said she was staying away as she could not bear anymore births when she was so overdue but hopefully she, Rosy and Sazzy have flooded us with babies galore...

Anyways will update later with news of progress or lack thereof...

Jaysecond · 15/03/2007 19:24

not sure when they induce here, although i guess i will find out on Monday as i have a consultants appointment then. I am due to have a sweep tomorrow, i have only heard good things bout them, have you all heard different?? or is it just a personal choice not to have one done. I understand it can be uncomfortable and a bit intrusive, but the ladies i have spoken to have been both positive and pro them.... maybe i need to hear other views?

DH just ordered me a madras lamb curry, hoping it might help in the stirrings!

Piffle, hope this is it for you my dear, sounds like you have all the right things happening for you, fingers crossed!!

muppethasakitten · 15/03/2007 19:26

Hey Piffle... will your mum be unbearable if you do infact have your lo tonight!! She could go into shape assessment for pregnant women! Seriously though, it does sound promising doesn't it?

I read today on another thread that around 50% of inductions end in c-section? Can that be right? Clearly it all went fine for me but if i'd have known that statistic i may have been slightly more concerned. Makes more sense to me as to why people are so wary of getting induced. Surely though, if all is well with the pregnancy and you don't want to be induced 10 days after your due date you can refuse?

Foxy's gone quiet on us today...

Come on Boo and Sazzy...

Any piffins left Mossy?

TheBlonde · 15/03/2007 19:35

Jay - sweeps seem to vary a lot, I had one with DS (didn't realise it was optional) and it really hurt and generally upset me for the rest of the day. I personally think describing it as sweeping a finger round your cervix is not exactly true more like someone giving your cervix a good hard jabbing (imho)

Muppet - I also read that inductions thread

Mistiek · 15/03/2007 20:38

Hello Good Evening all

Been really busy here today and have not had any time to sit and go through everything.

Congratulations to Rosy and hubby - well done hope all went well.

Well everything is done on my side, bags are packed, house is sort of tidy and last minute things are done. Even steralised some bottles, dummies and breast pump just in case I need them when I get back form the hospital.

I am now really nervous about tomorrow and keep getting an upset tummy Just waiting for 10pm to take my anti acids and then going to try and get some much needed sleep. Dont know if my nerves will allow that though.

Hope all is well with everyone and that things happen for those who are waiting. Good luck to anyone who has their babies during the weekend. I will update everyone when I get home.

OonaghBhuna · 15/03/2007 20:38

Hello I just want to gate crash to say many congratulations to Rosy!!! I hope everything went well, cant wait to see you and your new baby!!!!LOL xxxxxxxx

morocco · 15/03/2007 20:46

thinking of you, mistiek, sounds like you've got everthing organised!
can't wait for a sweep, myself, but would be well suspicious of anything more along the lines of induction, that phrase 'cascade of intervention' doesn't sound too fabulous and I've been that route before! mind you, there's plenty of people it's worked out fine for, but with a previous c section already, I can already hear the knives sharpening .
my lovely lovely mw who I adore is coming out tomorrow to, according to my notes, give me a foot massage!! to stimulate all those pressure points. isn't that lovely? can't wait.

Jaysecond · 15/03/2007 20:52

morocco, sounds great, i had reflexology today and she worked on those ' pregnancy pressure points' even gave DH a crash course in stimulating them, and he has obliged tonight, albeit a little heavy handed, but at least hes trying! Youre lucky your MW does that for you!

TheBlonde · 15/03/2007 20:57

Mistiek - good luck tomorrow

Muppet - I meant to add, apparently induction due to being overdue doesn't increase your chance of a c section (according to NICE anyway)

Morocco - foot massage sounds lovely

Jaysecond · 15/03/2007 21:02

lol.... is it just you and me around theblonde? am having quite severre BH atm, and hes moving sooo much. Wonder if the ole reflexology did anything!!

TheBlonde · 15/03/2007 21:03

oooh hope it is the real thing for you

I had reflexology at the weekend but no joy
I am even contemplating sex that's if DH ever gets back from work

eidsvold · 15/03/2007 21:07

wow - what a lot to catch up on - don't come on for a day.

had an eventful day yesterday.... ended up having to go into hospital as it was thought I was losing amniotic fluid. Well - I had the 2 dds here - dd1 was still a little too spotty to go to work. My usual emergency childcare fab person is doing jury duty and was called up for a trial on Tues, my other friend has a 2 month old and did not want to subject her to my spotty virally children - just in case it got passed on, could not get hold of dh who was in a conference all day. Finally phoned my mum in desperation and got her to come home from work!!

Turned out to be nothing - well no amniotic fluid lost - after a heart trace for baby, a lovely internal examination and unltrasound for me - internal made my eyes water ( almost). Doc happy with the amount of fluid around the babe.

Finally dh calls to ask why he has 19 missed calls and three text messages as I am leaving the hospital!!! I should have been able to get hold of a secretary who could have gotten a message to him but someone had not forwarded his phone to them!!!

Cue - late night home for 2 dds - macdonalds for their dinner - too knackered to do anything else and I was in bed by 8pm!!

congrats rosy and family.

at this stage all still going ahead next Friday.

Dd1 off to sn kindy today and dd2 and I off for our last mother and toddler swimming class.

38 weeks today.

eidsvold · 15/03/2007 21:08

all the best mistiek.

Piffle · 15/03/2007 21:11

Mistiek - good luck for tomorrow, I expect you'll be in for a good few days aferwards, hope you get rest and baby does well. Good healing vibes for the section too.

No more news from me, had a bath, end of activity for an hour, back to 15 mins apart now.
Not noticing any great increase at any rate so guess this is simply another stage in the great pre labour warm up.
Tis very energy consuming all this obsessing!

Jaysecond · 15/03/2007 21:36

off for a clary sage bath now, wil check in b4 bed!
